She is more like Ruin+Odium with less power, in my opinion. At least Rashek didn't use the Well with the explicit intent of destroying Scadrial Scadrial.

Divinity is... subjective, so to say. Some may say the Shards are only very, very powerful people, some may believe there is a God beyond the powers derived from Adonalsium, some may worship mortal men as gods on earth because of their power and virtue. The Heralds... they were the choosen of Honor, and it is implied he altered them in a way that makes them greater than normal humans, even without the power of the Honorblades. If they count as gods or not, that is subjective. The closest comparison to the Heralds would be somewhere between the Elantrians and Returned, but they get more credit for their previous role in the protection of mankind in my opinion.

While I agree our kandra friend is indeed suspicious, I don't really want him to be with the Set/Trell/whoever was behind Paalm and Bloody Tan. Maybe he wants to bring old man Rashek back, or thinks there has to be another Lord Ruler if humanity is to survive... whatever Sazed thinks is happening in the future. Another point against Sazed not telling his followers enough: ressurecting ancient tyrants because they though that is what he wanted.

Better than a bloody civil war.

That is completely irrelevant to the discussion of bureocracy. While Lift's presence saved Azir, its well stabilished legal system kept it together long enough for her to arrive.

He would watch the world crumble. As in, he wouldn't save Roshar if it meant even more destruction. That does not mean he would kill some thugs he could sneak, run, teleport or talk his way around.

Proof? They fared way better than Jah Keved.
-
False. Bureocracy saved Azir from civil war. And on Azir you can petition for shardblade acess.

Roshari magic is not just about gems, that is only the way investiture is stored. While it is the closest thing it has to Scadrial if you think every planet must have a single, especific material focus, all magic on Roshar we know enough to draw conclusions from is spren-based. Plus, the interaction between the shard and planet are more complex than effect+material. If Ruin was on another planet, its magic woukd be equaly ruinous, but not necessarily a copy-paste of hemalurgy. I believe that while a Ruin's magic system is based on its investiture being "filtered" by Scadrial's spiritweb, it happens only in the spiritual Realm and does not need to be filtered by local shardworlds before being broadcast.

I myself believe Ruin already gives extra investiture to make Hemalurgy possible, possibly to "pull" the piece of the victim's spiritweb into the spike. That means atium alloys wouldn't be needed.

Bondsmiths as "divine" ambassadors
DreamEternal replied to Full Metal Rithmatist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I believe the Stormfather is an overseer of spren bonds, considering how the he seems to be present everytime a listener bonds a spren, and how he (unwillingly) said "The words are accepted" the two times we see a Radiant speaking an oath with the explicit intent of (re)forming a complete spren bond. The Bondsmiths, throught their bond with the Stormfather (yes, I believe they all share one spren) and the similarity between the Nahel Bond and the Heralds' bonds to their Blades, would be capable of somehow interfering in the Oathpact. -
Hoid avoids killing. I think he will just let they stab him and then heal.

The metal plates contained very little information, if my memory serves well. There could be another plan he was organizing before being killed, for after he took the Well for a second time and maybe tried to unruin the planet a little. After all, Rashek wasn't immortal, and probably knew he couldn't use atium to keep himself alive forever. It does not need to be a contingency plan, only preparation for what could happen in... 3,000 years? More than enough time to procrastinate, that is for sure.

If you can store the capacity to use allomancy, but need to be an allomancer first, then I think nicrosil should work more like cooper and store specific fragments of your spritweb related to investiture manipulation.
-
Considering almost every native animal of Roshar needs spren-bonds, the entire world is shaped by a magical storm, the planet shouldn't support life because of its sun( it is too young, I think?), and its three moons were most likely artificialy placed, I don't see how Roshar can be natural. Scadrial... That depends on how you interpretate Sazed when he says a rock is half-ruin and half-preservation. Plus, we know whatever Ruin and Preservation did was not the standard procedure for shards seeking to invest.
-
The way I understood, it would be like storing part of your spiritweb. Since Rashek was so ridiculously powerful, he could have stored a third of his feruchemical and allomantic power and some of his memories if a sucessor was needed.

I think you mean this.

As a researcher of applied alleymatics, I must inform that the roundabout surrounds all the alleyverse. Plus, this would work much better as a space opera...

Awesome (witch?) dragon. I can see how that game can distract you. -
For being an anarcho-primitivist Ps: If anyone says anything based on my username, I will change it. Might change it anyway.

I actualy don't really believe that all worlds have "focuses" in the way Scadrial has. It is just that on Roshar, gemstones are the closest when it comes to crystaline structure interacting with investiture. Bonds are the true center of Rosharan magic. On fabrials: they use gemstones to contain spren, so it is a mix of both, in a way.
-
The magic systems arise from the unique interactions between shard and shardworld, that extend beyond material focuses. If Ruin were in Roshar, we wouldn't get gemstone hemalurgy but a very different, yet probably equaly ruinous, system. Since hemalurgy can be used across the whole cosmere I'd say Ruin's power is broadcasted throught the Spiritual Realm, being filtered by Scadrial's spiritual aspect. This means the focus on another world has no bearing, and you only need to find out the right metals and new bindpoints.
