The guy from Legion he was talking about is likely J.C. The only one I could find who matched the description was Adam Baldwin.

I wish I were. But it would mean skipping out on class for a second day in a row, something I can't afford to do in chemistry. Maybe for Calamity... Nice profile pic!

I think that this one would be appropriate.

Would recommend spoiler tag. Nicely done though.

Investiture might interfere with breaking Honorblades, but on the other hand he might be able to reflexively break bones from a distance or something like that. Plus he'll probably have a couple of really un-cool glasses on hand. I'll vote for Alcatraz, even though I pity Szeth more. We'll probably have to wait until his flashback book to see if I like him outside of his misery or not.

Totally voting for Susebron. I've always liked him. No offense to Vin, but I am much more of the trusting type, which Susebron seems to be.

I meant with Feruchemy. Can you tap Connection with Preservation to enhance your Allomancy?

How could I not vote for Hoid? Yes, I like Wax, but he's a little too stereotypically protagonist. So I vote for the non-protag. Or at least he's not a protagonist yet.

A knock came at the door. A dark-haired man lugged a bulky package across the floor, his cloak trailing chocolate shavings. He cleared his throat. "Delivery of assorted 'bookies'," he said. With some uncertainty, he added, "For the spreniest spren who ever sprenned at the Halls of Awkward?" The awkwardness fell again. "I guess this is the right place. Just be sensible with these. One guy I know almost choked to death on the Sadeas one." More chocolate shavings fluttered in the air as the box thudded to the ground and the figure disappeared with a faint twang. The alluring lettering on the side of the package proclaimed: Try our new Lift flavor! The awesomeness is so pure you'll belch rainbows!

I expect The Lopen to win this round, so I will vote for Human, because he is my favorite koloss. And he would totally beat up that one-armed Herdazian.

I assumed that lumuoles were bacteria-sized, making it difficult to have a bug-sized thing attached to it. Perhaps this would be better suited to a virus or something? I do like the idea of an parasite that twists lumuoles against its host, though. In the mean time, I'll drop off some ideas I had for lumuole ecology: A plant that has a symbiosis with lumuoles and puts them into its own fruits as an incentive for consumers. This could be interesting if it was treated as a sacred tree. What if the plant was directly over a source of lumuoles, leading to the possibility of a Great Lumuole fruit? Alternately, plants that have flowers with lumuole or magic mineral rewards instead of nectar to encourage pollination. All of his would eventually lead to some kind of trade/industry of cultivating magical flora. (Huh. I think I just re-developed apothecaries.) Hives or nests of insects could center on lumuole clusters, with the queen glowing most brightly in the center. Or bee-like insects that pollinate magical flowers to make magical honey! Lumuole-lit fungi caverns. Beautiful. Perhaps a unique deep underground ecosystem can be sustained by a strong lumuole "hot-spot" if there isn't another source of energy? Spiders or other predators that use lumuole bait. Predators that don't have physical camouflage, but use purple lumuoles to disguise their scent and/or sounds. Ooh! Flowers that use flies as pollinators by tricking them into thinking that they're dead corpses! Prey using light-lumuoles (yellow, I believe?) to reveal these tricksy purple-lumuole-predators. And some questions to get the brainstorming started: What would happen to cheese, beer, or wine aged with lumuoles? What would happen if a red-lumuole "hot-spot" was underwater? What sort of symbiosis would happen there? How about blue lumuoles in the desert? Orange lumuoles way up in the sky? Do organisms that use blue lumuoles gain immunity to cold, or do they become cooler, enabling them to live in hot areas? Can it be used for both? (Extend this countering v. enhancing idea to other lumuole types.) How "advanced" does a species have to be in order to active use magic? Do "hot-spots" ever overlap? (e.g., a blue lumuole pocket overlapping with yellow, allowing mingling) Would there be sharing of genetic information and possibly mixture of power?

Can increasing Connection to Preservation enhance your Allomancy?

Hmmm... Szeth?

The city, once unified and grown together, is now divided between two factions. The people from Love and Hope are unrestrained and do whatever they want in excess, even to their own harm. The groups in Honor and Courage boldly stand out for what they believe and will not diverge from their path that they hold was revealed as the original purpose of the city. The freewheelers, for the most part, cannot understand the restrictive resolve of the west, who in turn hold the east in spite over their lack of understanding of tradition. There are those who try assuage everyone, saying that Liberty reigns, and there is no right nor wrong, only the individual. Meanwhile, Wisdom and Justice drift further and further from everyone's view. Some might say the name of the city is America...

Sorry if this is a necro, but I realized that I had not answered this and I feel bound to do so. I essentially made a promise in the OP and I don't think I've kept it very well. Special apologies to you, Scott. Definitely a morning person. I can do much more in the morning than in the late night. The quality of the work I do after 10PM is highly suspect. The first question I ask is highly context dependent. For example, if I'm meeting someone in college, then I'll ask what their major is and work my way from there to more interesting territory. Sometimes small talk is necessary to dig into an interesting conversation. I don't have a consistent plan, since every situation and person is different. Non-fiction book? The Bible. Another great one is How to Read a Book, by Mortimer J. Adler. I think that both of these books hold quite a bit of wisdom that isn't necessarily widely held right now. @Scott: If you're doing homework, morning or evening? How many quesadillas do you consume in an average week? And what's your preferred method of getting to know someone? If conversation, where and when?

My thought is that they may be physical manifestations of the Shard, like atium. However, unlike atium, they would be replenished with people's actual Breaths as they died. This seems consistent with Endowment's character. So if more and more Breaths are being lost, then more and more Tears would be produced. This would also explain why they are called Tears of Edgli, since some sort of deity could be weeping over the destruction.

Granted, but you must lurk in an alley waiting to mug passing Alethi nobility until one of them is a Surgebinder and demonstrates his/her power to you. I wish... for the ability to create portals using my closet door.
