  1. Not so much collected as "already had," but I see your point. Come to think of it, I don't think they've ever been under suspicion until now either...
  2. It's Canon actually, but it's close enough It's Shadows of Self(SoS) [...] The Lost Metal is gonna be a lot sooner than ten years, You had me worried for a second there To @Lord Maelstrom: I have a few suggestions you can use to catch up on information. Ask Questions: All of us remember info that others don't know off-hand or forget things from time to time, so questions are always welcome. The Coppermind: Wiki of all things Sanderson, and although some articles are a bit out of date because of the wealth of recent signings, most everything is sufficient enough to give the basics The Events and Signings Subforum: Counter-intuitive as it may sound, it's a good place to learn new things. Every answer is straight from Brandon, accurate and verbatim. And since most of the discussions there try to find new meanings, you have explanations and interpretations already written down for you. All else fails, read a few theories: You aren't the only one who is new/confused about things, so someone may have probably asked the thing you were wondering about and got an answer. if they haven't, then do the asking yourself. If you can deal with the wounded pride about being wrong, post a theory about something related to your limited knowledge. You'll get flooded with corrections, most of which will give you new information that you didn't have before.
  3. My source is a half-remembered comment by someone in another Hoid topic. I'll search through them for it (Not likes there's too many) and edit it in. Editing in an @Name will still notify someone right? (I'm under the impression it doesn't since the post is already posted, but we'll see.)
  4. Hoid was born (in the natural method I believe, not directly made by a Shard) before Adonalsium was Shattered. He was there when it happened, and was even offered a Shard by Leras(I think) So I would say probably not to your question. We currently have no real clues to his motivations and goals. We know he's collecting Investiture, but we can only guess why. He has a Fortune-esque power that lets him know where and when he needs to be, though not always why he needs to be there, so his decision to not run from Odium is definitely important in some way. Odium is afraid of Harmony for the exact reason. However, Odium is not above working with other Shards either as long as he gives the orders, so even Harmony could have his work cut out for him. The biggest issue is that the Shards would have to physically rip themselves away from the planets they are Invested in, separating them from a portion of their power(along with probable mental repercussions) in order to team up with any speed. Up till Honor trapped him, that's something Odium was very careful to avoid happening to himself so he wouldn't be weakened. The Worldhoppers in the Purelake Interlude chapter are members of the in-world Seventeenth Shard, a group that is tracking Hoid for unknown reasons, and has a policy on non-intervention(at least, the fellow in charge of them does) All that said, Welcome to the Shard, and congrats on your first theory!
  5. All things considered... maybe. None of the 5 WoB's Extesian linked explicitly say no, but Taln is a main character since he is getting his own book, he should know that he still has it. So Brandon's "not known to the main characters" line would be a little suspect. Additionally, Brandon says "Taln's is gone" which should probably mean something important. All in all, its a clever idea that nobody's thought of so far. Well done
  6. Oh boy... The answer to this question is "there are a lot" In no particular order, there are people on here suspecting: Liss (Assassin meeting with Jasnah in WoR Prologue, May have still been in Kholinar at the time) Chana (Herald of Dustbringers, started as a "Liss is Chana" theory that branched out) Lone Greedy Diagrammist (No specific Guesses, but they'd have to be high up to know what an Honorblade could do) Diagrammist under Orders (Taravangian may count as a main character knowing, so it's up for debate) Bordin (Dalinar's agent in Kholinar for unknown reasons at the time, Brought Taln to the Warcamps) Shalash (Herald of Lightweavers, her "No Shardblade" comment was before Taln arrived) The Skybreakers (People think they're hoarding the Lost Shardblades from the Recreance) Amaram (His "precious cargo" comment, semi-disproved/doubted) The Ghostbloods (With exception to Extesian's comment 4 hrs ago, I don't think they have ever been under suspicion for this) Any others that I've missed? I personally favor it being Liss, but we'll have to wait and see if we get more answers(or suspects) in Oathbringer
  7. This one? (Spoilered for size(Argent likes being thorough)) I'm aware of it, and nothing in it disproved the idea that Windrunner squires having Stormlight was the abnormal "power of the squires," which is why Radiant_Jaeger had to quote a scene in the book.
  8. Well, Dakhor bone shapes are reminiscent of the old Fjordell alphabet... Lets wait until Elantris 2 when we learn more about Dakhor before throwing the idea away altogether. I'm curious what building another Elantris would do though, since it acts as a power amplifier it would expand the area where AonDor is strong, but would it also expand the area where people can be taken by the Shaod? I doubt it since the Shaod predates the city, but who knows?
  9. Short answer to this is that Honorblades are a "hack," and not part of the natural system. Meaning that Honorblades gave them access to the whole spectrum because Honor cheated, so to speak. We don't know.
  10. He did, but we still have nothing set in stone for what that actually entails. Pretty much absolutely everything that TLR is on record for having done can be explained away without using Hemalurgy.
  11. Basically, all of the Spiritual stuff is based in the spike(the power it grants, how strong it is, etc..) but it still needs the connection to a physical body in order to grant the power to someone.
  12. Yes, although you can copy/paste links into your post as well. It might also be useful to copy the WoB itself into a quotebox so that it's in the discussion(because some mobile users and links don't always work together)
  13. Not quite. See here. So Elantrians had to exist to learn the Aonic language, which they had to do in order to know what shape to make the City Edit: sorta ninja'd by Yata
  14. Normally I would say no, as you get the same amount of power from the metal when Nicrobursted as you do without it, just faster. So it stands to reason that you should get the same out of your compounded stores, but faster. And to bring Spool's comment from earlier back to this:
  15. Only thing I can think of against that right now is that when asked about how far away a Radiant can be from their Spren, Brandon said that the Stormfather is a bit more omnipressant than normal Spren. Omnipresant defintition 2 is: (of God) present everywhere at the same time. So.. your idea is a bit of a maybe/maybe not situation. It's still a good idea though, especially after Honor splintered.
  16. Warbreaker is ... ~300 years before Stormlight Archive, and MB Era 2 is roughly concurrent to Stormlight. We know for a fact that Vasher only visited Nalthis and Roshar, so it wouldn't surprise me that the others didn't go exploring either. Wouldn't put it past them to actually go exploring either. I would say almost certainly not, because Arsteel is (Warbreaker Spoilers)
  17. An Eon is an established amount of time? Fascinating, I just figured it was a phrase used to mean very long ago like "the time before time" and such. Either way, we know that the Prelude of Way of Kings is 6,000 years after the Shattering. Mistborn Era 2 takes place at the same time as modern day Stormlight, 4,500 years later. The Shards themselves only came into existence 10.5K years ago, and R&P had to travel to where Scadrial would be, realize they couldn't make life alone, and then make their deal first(not too many years, but it adds up). Even compared to length of recorded Human History, Scadrial isn't very old.
  18. Carapace isn't metal. If he embedded coins into their carapace then it might work, but that isn't very different from the OP's Scenario 3. While easier, it's more fun of a thought experiment to find new and creative ways to wreak havoc with the Fullborn Powerset. Limits may be more interesting than powers, but creative usage of the powers you have is well within that category
  19. If that Mistborn was actually Hoid, then he most assuredly was not burning Copper. He would be a Lerasium Mistborn, which means that Vin could not have pierced his Coppercloud at all, A-Bronze spike or not. This doesn't prove this person is/isn't Hoid and/or a Mistborn, but its something to think about. Brandon has stated that copper could block other manifestations of Investiture(though we have almost no idea which ones..)
  20. Lightweaver.. which is unexpected. Considering the influence the Book of Lord Shang has had on me, I was fully expecting Skybreaker(which took 2 tries to purposely get) I tried to purposely get Skybreaker because of the above but got Lightweaver again, so I really feel that it's accurate now. I'm curious what that implies now...
  21. There's a daily cap of 16. It doesn't reset at a certain time(that I've found yet) and seems to reset whenever your 16th upvote ago was at least 24hrs ago. We've speculated that this could become a plot point in a later book, but it depends on how the Stormlight gifting works for Squires
  22. Did they? hrmm... must've forgotten that If that's the case, then they should all get Stormlight access, and Windrunner Squires get the contrived boon of being able to hold more Stormlight since the Dustbringer squires only glowed faintly.
  23. Just because this is cross-platform, it should probably be in Cosmere Theories. (Oh, you mentioned that.. Mistborn might be good enough since it's basically a "how could TLR wreck an army today?" thread if you put a spoiler tag in the title) @Rubix I leave its ultimate destination up to you. Idea 1 works. Idea 2 should work, but I'm not sure how survivable it is. Idea 3 is (HoA Spoilers)
  24. I don't really have enough evidence either way (the reason this is still under debate to begin with). I still think it's bonds but never really had a solid "why".. I will say one thing, because it's currently in my headcanon until proven otherwise: I think that accessing Stormlight is the "strength" part of the Windrunner Resonance and that normal squires might not have that. I'm curious where you put the "Bond" in Fabrial-Tech, since I'm not 100% on whether a Spren trapped in a Gemstone would count as a bond or not.
