Straff's only a Tineye, and Zane was a Mistborn. So I'd say it's just to potential for power in general (as I highly doubt any of Straff's lovers were Mistborn, given how they allowed him to treat them) And Zane was a Skaa Mistborn as well, so Straff would have to have bedded a Skaa Mistborn and got lucky if specific powers were genetic

As Calderis said, Resonance is basically Power A + Power B +(Investiture Physics) = Resonance. Something to note is that if you get too many powers, Resonances fade out and you don't have them anymore. I personally think that happens around 4-5 Powers, but we really have no idea other than KR/Twinborn(2 Powers) get them, and Mistborn(16) don't.

If you mean a Savant, then they would basically ascend and we would never see how powerful they would be. If you mean something else, please clarify. (Metal Addict isn't really a term I've seen used on here before)

From Physlink: The Question was specifically if it was possible to slow down light, so I'm not sure if that really answered what you were asking about. Oh Yay, I can predict the future now That's actually a cool point. Can't wait for the history bit to get filled in

Questions about Shardblade Summoning
The One Who Connects replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Fascinating. Is this only while they are being Leeched, or does it stay blocked until they draw in more Stormlight? -
We know that Sazed's Rings survived. Not sure 10 Rings would be called "Harmony's Bands" as opposed to .. well.. you know: "Harmony's Rings" but oh well. Brandon also said that his Rings may show up in later books.

The Heralds and the Silver Kingdoms

Yep. Mid 2014 - Late 2016 has a very noticeable gap in my posts. Also I know the feeling, I still haven't finished all the stuff he's wrote so far -

Questions about Shardblade Summoning
The One Who Connects replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
1: Irregular Heartbeat should follow ten of those beats like it does when your heart-rate is elevated. Pacemaker tries to get the heart to beat at a normal rate, so it should still be 10 actual beats (Also see 3) 2. Not sure, but I think that unless they make a functioning circulatory system that is designed to be run off 2 hearts, they will have to use the 10 beats of the heart being used and not the back-up heart. 3: Here. 4. It would seem faster to us, but it should be the same amount of time for them. Like summoning while in a Speed bubble. Normal time for you is an instant to outsiders 5. Separate summoning time. 6. We don't know. We know there is an upper limit to Kandra size, but their lower limit is nowhere near Shardfork size, so I'm not sure they equate... 7. That's just RAFO territory. I doubt they would, since the space inside is not actually part of the backpack itself(and therefore not part of the summoned Spren-item). 8. Same as 7, We don't really know, but I think it would stay in the Cognitive since it isn't part of the Spren. After they've eaten it, it should become a non-issue, as it'd be inside the Spren and not need to manifest. -
I did say I wasn't sure why he had to do that, just that people mentioned him saying it. Now that you mention it, I do remember the "timeline catching up" conversation from somewhere. Maybe you're right

The Heralds and the Silver Kingdoms
The One Who Connects replied to CabbageHead's topic in Stormlight Archive
He's not the first. I "caught up" on my 2 year absence by reading everything that looked interesting. You people have way to many pages devoted to Stormlight theories -
Last paragraph, Magic Spoiler Tag. That said, I really like the "power needs to recharge" aspect. Only have a few questions (They're in bullet points because I like neatness) Can Fire Users mess with heat in any way? That could potentially help with your problem. The H2O trio is pretty fleshed out, but can they only affect water or can they affect other liquids? So Lightning is an Elemental of Electricity. That alone might actually validate the science; by throwing one of those absorbed charges at wherever they want the bolt to strike, it alters the charge between the sky and the ground. And then boom Can Sound Users use their power for Sonar/Echolocation? Darkness: What does "They can spread shadows, though this still just causes the light to be pushed back somewhere else" actually imply? Does the light just move and make somewhere else brighter than it was? All in all, I like it. It's well thought out and detailed. The same could be asked of a lot of elemental systems that made Earth and Stone separate powers. There is almost always gonna be moments where multiple powers can affect the same stuff because life doesn't evenly split on the element lines that we use. ... Now that I think about it, StrikerEZ didn't actually use "Earth" in his list. Given that Stone mentions "rocks, stones, giant boulders, and earthquakes" I imagine that it differs from Sand on a matter of scale. It's not my system, so I'll defer to Striker's explanation.

Why didnt TLR take all the lerasium beads for himself?
The One Who Connects replied to Gizmosowner's question in Cosmere Q&A
This may relate to a query I posted in the Ultimate List a few days ago about whether he became "as powerful as the Well could make him" or "as powerful as he could physically be." To give a real answer, we know that he gave 9 of them to foreign kings that supported him, sowing the seeds of widespread Allomancy. The decision to do so was either out of the kindness of his heart , because he had a plan for the beads that involved him doing so, or someone else had a plan for them and manipulated him into following it. (2 Hours later, after the daydream/distraction wears off.... and post) -
Alright then. I may still do it from time to time since it's habit now, so fair warning(not that it's a big deal) Time to relearn how to edit the spellcheck dictionary...
-
Well, that's an issue. What do you think this could mean/imply?

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" ? Given the existence of the Voidbringer threat, I could see uniting mankind against a common foe being allowed, but the problem with uniting through warfare is that there is always an enemy. You can unify mankind during a Desolation and keep them united while you rebuild society, but how do you keep them unified after the work is done and they go back to their own separate homes? Since I was there the last time this was argued, I'll mention that we never found it, but there was one that said "different words, same meaning" without a specific Order attached to it. (Depending on when it was, we might have only known Windrunner Oaths at the time (since Lightweaver doesn't count))
-
I also remember someone mentioning that the Elantris Sequels needed to be finished before Era 3 Mistborn for some form of "reasons." I don't remember if it was Realmatic reasons (for our understanding) or Story reasons or something else, but I distinctly remember somebody bringing this up before and the Elantris Sequels were in the 2015 State of the Sanderson alongside Stormlight 4 and 5. I haven't checked last years SotS yet, so maybe thing have changed
-
What we Canonically know is the Currently spoken Oaths. 3rd Windrunner, (not-yet canon Skybreaker 2nd), Edgedancer 3rd, Lightweavers are just truths, (not-yet canon Stoneward 2nd), and Bondsmith 2nd. The only other thing we know is that there is an upper limit, and that everyone in-world believes it to be 5. Edit (didn't provide a point).. For the wording, I doubt they are identical in format, since the oaths convey a general message and if you convey that message with different words, it should still be accepted
-
Is it not? I've always capitalized it (but then again, the spell check dictionary on this computer counts any new words added as names, where capitalization makes it a different word, and thus spelled wrong) so I may be biased by the tech

I like this idea a fair bit, but I will point out that Hatred(and the mindset it spawns) can just as easily break the Unity before the Unity can stifle the Hatred. It's one of the reasons that double and triple-cross (and quadruple-cross cough Hakann cough) exists. People will always resent being forced to work with "that person/nation/etc.." and sometimes people snap. It'd be a Bondsmith's true power to breed understanding and/or have something that people would not dare defy to enforce unity.

As White Leeopard said, Vin pulled one of his out right before her Ascension(which prevented her from pulling the other one), and it's a matter of moderate debate whether he put it back in. There was a discussion ..somewhere that he might be using a fake one to cover the hole in his head, but I cannot find it at the moment

How the Vessels Killed and Shattered Adonalsium
The One Who Connects replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Not exactly. My best analogy likens them to Shards of Glass, but we all struggle to quantify raw power as a physical item since it isn't one. Picture a Mirror, and throw a rock at it. The Mirror splits into 16 equal pieces(because of magic) and they each pick one up. Each piece holds a Fragment, or Shard if you wish to call it that, of the overall Power. Long story short, this topic exists because we have no idea what the metaphorical "rock" was or how it managed to break a magical item. That said, I won't discount some sort of frequency related thing as the why Adonalsium broke so evenly, rather than a whole bunch of mismatched pieces. It's akin to the Cymatics discussion on Roshar, which gives precedent- 13 replies

I realize that there is almost no possible way that Rock knows Syl is his Shardblade, but if he somehow understood that concept then he could have falsely assumed that the Honorblade was also a Spren(the way Kaladin sort-of did before he learned) I don't know if Horneater culture has legends of the KR, but without character backstory, everybody knows more than they let on. Actually, what might asking "Is he yours?" imply? He doesn't recognize the Assassin in White's Shardblade He thinks that the Honorblade is Kaladin's Sprenblade and that he stole the first one to battle Szeth (since the spear failed him last time) He thinks that Kaladin bonded/was given the Honorblade at some point Some other illogical assumption.. As you can see, all of these ideas that could make Rock's sentence seem reasonable don't hold up in the overall context.

What characters do you want to be Radiants?
The One Who Connects replied to TheDoomsday's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well there's the WoB that Djar got us a while back. Spoilered for size, rather than topic It would depend on the Spren. Which is a non-answer, and what you would have expected.. -
House Tekiel has claimed Vin as one of their own and tried to use that to their advantage in Era 2. Given the fame that The Survivor still has, I have no doubt that whichever house he belonged to(if it still existed) would be all over that, and/or try getting in good favor with the Survivorist Church. Since we don't see that happening, and there isn't a mention of his Noble Blood in the Church, I don't think anyone except for The Survivor and Ironeyes know their noble parentage anymore. Thus I believe that Brandon is holding that secret from both us and Scadrial at large.
