  1. Normally, I would agree. However, we have this WoB. There is "one" and "it," which lack plurality. And since he was considering making it a proper chapter, it's more connected to the main story than we'd think.
  2. Best estimate on the Origin Point of the "discord" discussion, thanks to Ookla's sister noticing the Epigraphs.
  3. No. I am almost certain that Taravangian has stated that Nergaoul moves too, and his area of influence should move with him. Line of questioning needs improvement. Try to ascertain their origin point and/or their order of travel(Q28). We know that you can make a weak spike from a Lifeless, but we don't know if you can give them powers. Good question. Additionally, we should ask about Lifeless that were made in "the old way" without using Ichor-Alcohol. Now for a few questions of my own. Hemalurgy... again... but only about the blood(which somehow makes it less morbid) For a species with an open circulatory system, where hemolymph is analogous to blood, would they still fit the "moving blood" requirement for Hemalurgy? From same source as 1: (I know this is mostly flatworms and jellyfish), but would a species with no circulatory system be viable to use Hemalurgic spikes? How about Lifeless made without Ichor-Alcohol? Are they viable to use Hemalurgic Spikes? What actually makes "the old way" different from the Ichor-Alcohol method? How does one actually prepare the body with the alcohol vs how the body is prepared in the old method? Would a Steel Inquisitor turned into a Lifeless after dying retain their powers? (Use generic Allomancer if need be) Would they retain the mental capacity to use those powers, the way Lifeless soldiers retain their muscle memory? Are Lifeless physically able to ingest metals in order to use Allomancy? Could a Steel inquisitor on Nalthis become a Returned, or do the spikes interfere with the Divine Breath? Would adding spikes to a Returned interfere with the Divine Breath in some way? A Nicrosil Compounding Returned could essentially live forever, no? Agelessness is from the 5th Height, but when Returned suppress their Divine Breath, they are not at the 5th Height. Would they grow older while suppressing, or is this another passive effect that they cannot turn off? Has anyone in the Cosmere used Hemalurgy to steal something besides a power?(Koloss/Kandra Spikes don't count) If yes, what did they steal? What is the strangest non-power attribute someone in the Cosmere has stolen with Hemalurgy? What is the strangest non-power attribute that can be stolen with Hemalurgy? (besides writing skill)
  4. There's the obvious "double shard's are a problem" motivations, but I'll ignore that for the time being. Ambition was the number one target, because pure ambition makes one reckless and unpredictable. Not someone Odium wants to deal with. Dominion could be construed in such a way as to want control. Odium dislikes being controlled, and would only work with another Shard if he were in charge. Devotion, on the extreme end, breeds fanatics and zealots. A fanatical Shard is just as bad as our friend Ambition, because the warped perceptions make them unpredictable. And if Dominion got control of Devotion, and tried to 2 v 1 other Shards... Odium likes to plan ahead, and he wouldn't want this. Honor is certainly the one to go "face me!" and/or hunt Odium down. Likely why he died first. Maelstrom summed up Cultivation quite well. Someone who has "cultivated" oneself, removing any unnecessary qualities, would be quite dangerous. And if they could do this to Honor too... Ruin and Preservation were ignored because they were such opposites. They wouldn't be able to be a legitimate threat because they couldn't work together like D&D could. The fact that Harmony can still hardly get things done proves this. Additionally, I cannot even remotely express that attacking R&P would be a really, really bad idea. Killing Preservation opens Odium up to attack by Ruin, who would absolutely want to "ruin" him. Odium is still recovering, and gets destroyed. If he goes after Ruin first, Preservation can use his power to "preserve" Ruin, giving him the strength to go toe-to-toe with and destroy Odium. While Ruin is recovering, Preservation betrays him just like he did in the Terris Prophecies. Endowment was almost certainly ignored because they were a single Shard. If she had another Shard to "endow" their power to, Odium would have a bad day. I cannot speak to Autonomy, because reasons(*and confusion).
  5. Semi-Relevant Annotation.
  6. It isn't. Gavilar was proto-Bondsmith, while the Machiavellian would be a Skybreaker or a Lightweaver.
  7. Personal opinion, I don't think we will see both splintering a Shard and reforming a splintered Shard in the same series. The "What's stopping some bad dude from rebuilding Odium like they did to Honor?" question might detract too much from the ending. Which of the two do you think we are more likely to see in SA? To throw out a third(or at this point, seventh) option, how about we end the Stormlight Archive with no surviving Shards? Haven't had the gods end up killing each other off in centuries, and so long as some of humanity survives, the casual reader gets their "happy" ending. We've suspected the future of Roshar will be Fabrial-Tech anyway, which should still be powered by the Highstorms. Surgebinding currently functions with Honor dead, so him staying dead shouldn't mess with too much. Brandon can do all manner of things with Cultivation's power permeating the world. Possibly get an answer about why Shinovar is the way it is in the process. Odium's power could end up affecting Roshar or Braize, even some of the Unmade might still be around(The Thrill isn't all bad).
  8. This from the one who still goes "I haven't seen that WoB before." I'm just as guilty of this, but still
  9. Which means one of two things. Szeth knows this, and has to mentally command it to disappear when he drops it, or it's another instance of cognitive perception, like the heartbeats. Because Szeth has dropped his blade on purpose and had it disappear. [WoK I-9 Death Wears White]
  10. Jasnah struck me as the one to not let her pupil show her up, so she's got to be at 4th Oath minimum. I know that she can't actually know how far Shallan has gone, but..
  11. You didn't. It's a line from Jofwu's transcript of the Oathbringer Prologue reading, which has a few audio unclear question marks/bolded words for the sentence in question.
  12. In all politeness, please don't. 2 and a half pages of trainwreck and thread hijackery are enough. Granted, we only came to the conclusion that it is not where Ambition died, nor where any of Ambition's shattered power ended up, but there is a small window where Ambition could have gone to Sel after D&D died. I don't see anything big enough to influence existing at the time, thanks to Khriss and her "human prehistory" comment. Additionally, given that D&D are the Dor, Ambition going there to hide from Odium doesn't hold up either, as the Spiritual Realm would be lacking in Investiture, as it's all in the CR. Ambition would stick out like a sore thumb.
  13. Curious how transcribing is going, and/or if the Theoryland entry has all the questions yet.
  14. Not originally at the very least. I'm still searching for the "co-opted" entry, but as Calderis said, it wouldn't really change the story. Found it. Now let's see if I can find the transcript.
  15. Regarding whether you could Soulcast a Fullborn, here's a snippet by Spool from the last TLR v Herald topic.
  16. Here's a relevant WoB. I do like your logic. However, assuming our Fullborn can overcome the shock of losing a limb in such an alien sense, they can easily rectify the situation. F-Speed(if necessary) and grab the Goldmind with their other hand. The arm isn't conventionally severed, so it's still within reaching distance.
  17. Fair enough. That's a good point that I hadn't considered. Now to counter with a point I don't think you've ever had cause to consider... Jury-rig the Pool in Elantris and ascend. Do you think someone utilizing that kind of power could move the Dor back into the SR?
  18. Shardblades cut the soul. So you can technically sever the link. Either way, the Dor is physically within the CR. Investiture has a spiritual, cognitive and physical aspect too, but when not in use(magic systems), all three are contained within the Spiritual Realm. The physical aspect is the one that makes the most difference with collecting something, and the physical aspect of the Dor is in the Cognitive Realm.
  19. Not necessarily. Once you reach critical mass and ascend (probably be half-done, enough to constitute a Shard), then it becomes much easier. Odium moved all that Investiture into the CR himself, did he not? I see no reason another Shard couldn't just take that power back out if they so chose.
  20. Not bad. I'll still go for Sovereignty or Unity, but as you say, it depends on who the vessel is. This I will argue, as I feel that Odium would have tossed D&D into the CR in their entirety if he could have. I think that splintering actually transcends the barriers between Realms, with pieces "falling" into the PR/CR, leading to Seons/Skaze/Spren. Odium is on a deadline to escape without becoming Invested in the system, so he doesn't search for those last little snippets, thinking them inconsequential enough to ignore(or not knowing they happen, thinking they are in the CR and will get absorbed by the Dor, etc.. take your pick) Absorbing D&D one bloody piece at a time huh? Can't really refute, as absorbing all the splinters first is a popular "reform Honor" idea that hasn't really been shot down yet. Turn Splinters of D&D into Splinters of Unity/mastery/whatever, and then going up the ladder. You could rebuild Adonalsium like this if you really tried. I like this method better, despite wanting a scene of someone taming the Dor storm. Why split the Dor at all? You'd obviously need to have someone who can absorb D&D for this plan to work, so you can cut out the middlemen entirely and have that person absorb the merged D&D(Dor as a whole) right out the gate. It's faster than splitting the Dor, and you don't condemn your temp Devotion and Dominion Vessels to death with a suicide assault.
  21. Oh you meant "something similar" in regards to Parshendi transformation. Derp.. I'm not even sure what I mistook you for saying anymore. I'd think they have to do a rapid change to pupate within a single Highstorm, unless they stay in those cocoons for longer than we've assumed.
  22. Thanks to this little WoP archive that I decided to reread, I found reference to this WoB. I think the word neuter makes a big difference.
  23. They go through pupation. It's not what you're thinking however. We know what they turn into, but not what they start out as. Unknown Creature, Pupate, Chasmfiend. Chulls too, and they aren't the only ones. Larkin, Unknown(likely pupation), Lanceryn.
