  1. You see @Wreith? People forgot this entry existed altogether. Windrunner Gemstone is a Sapphire, and Kaladin's Eyes turn Blue when using Stormlight(and I think having his Shardblade out too, but I may be wrong.) Dustbringer Gemstone is a Ruby, which are indisputably Red. Also bear in mind that Red is not a color tied exclusively to one Shard in the Cosmere.
  2. Preservation almost certainly would, but that's because he and Ruin actually created the planet and everyone on it. Odium didn't do that on Roshar, so he shouldn't have to go as far. He might out of spite, but I do not believe he would absolutely have to. It's still probably worth clarifying with Brandon either way.
  3. It's still subject to debate. Brandon is partial to 15 years, but he's said 10, 15, and 20 at one time or another. He's also said that MB Era 2 might be after SA 5, but it might also be after SA 7. He hasn't pinned down the exact timelines yet, and he wont do so until he writes the books themselves.
  4. I don't think Wrath has ever been given to Odium by anyone other than random speculators on the forums. Also, Wrath is too similar to Retribution and Vengeance. I, and Calderis, continue to hold Wrath(and/or Retribution) as an Honor/Odium pairing. I will say that I approve of you putting Vengeance and Justice together, as people often forget how similar they are. This reminds me of Nemesis actually, Greek Goddess of Revenge, Justice, and(depending on which legends you read) Balance(Adrestia was handmaiden of Nemesis in some stories, but since she was equally associated with justice and vengeance, some stories have mixed the two over the centuries). Hrmm... maybe there's something to that.. Odium is Divine Hatred removed from all it's context. I trust Frost on this one. And to foray into definitions again: Given how Dislike(Hatred definition) and Displeasure(Anger Definition) are synonyms, Hatred and Wrath both appear to be strong/intense anger. Hatred includes Hostility, which can be passive(ill will) or active(military actions are hostilities). Wrath can be passive(indignation) or active(retributory punishment). The two terms seem to be a lot of the same, yet they are two distinct words. For the linguists among us, why is that? Why makes them different in human language? As I've said to Tobar14 and John203 before: So I don't think randomness will actually have precedence in the Cosmere. But that's my opinion, feel free to disagree There was a little more discussion on it in the thread you linked in the OP, but something else to consider is that "letting the chips fall where they may" is essentially "Anti Future-Sight The Shard." It just doesn't mesh well with the rest of the Cosmere, at least to me. As for the rest of your Shard suggestions: Charisma: It's not the name, but something related to the concept itself that feels off. And I can't pin down what. Enlightenment: I'd still prefer to call it Wisdom. Enigma: I don't really consider Mystery to be a Divine Attribute. The Lord Ruler was rather mysterious too. Mystery is simply the shortage/absence of Understanding. God is mysterious because he didn't see fit to explain himself. Sazed can quite literally have a chat with spiked individuals if he so chooses. He has knowledge behind unraveling his mystery, and he doesn't provide it because he chooses not to. I don't see a quality like that being a Shardic Intent. As for Paradox and that Alcatraz WoB, the world of Alcatraz isn't bound by rules the way the Cosmere is. You can make a case for Chaos, but not Paradox. Purity: I'm just as unsure as you are it seems. I'm not particularly fond of "holiness" being a Divine Attribute, but I don't know if I have the capacity to explain why. As for Locations: You didn't really discuss the "where to find them" for Chaos, Charisma or Retribution. Wisdom being at Silverlight seems reasonable, but it also feels too obvious. I'll stay 50-50 on this one. I don't think Yolen's disappearance has to do with the Shards anymore, as surprising as that might sound. But as Weltall pointed out, Yolen is "hidden," rather than inaccessible. Mraize can get there, Hoid and Frost can exchange communications to/from there. Khriss cannot find Yolen, which is something quite different from Ambition Autonomy isolating Taldain. I wonder if it's like that for all of them.. say: For the purposes of finding Yolen, you are blindfolded. But for the purposes of getting to Yolen, the planet is still there, even if you can't see it. Purity being on Purity is even worse than the Wisdom/Silverlight connection when it comes to being "too obvious."
  5. You'd be surprised how few people even remembered this WoB existed until I was hunting it for Maxal. I really haven't seen many people using it to justify that, so I imagine people are simply making assumptions that aren't there. Out of curiosity, would you mind linking a few posts/topics that misuse it as reference for that so I can parse what people are actually saying(and correct them if need be)?
  6. Have this: Not directly contradictory to what you said, but it provides an interesting perspective shift on the topic.
  7. I kinda think he will. Or rather, a facsimile that is essentially the same. I've been persuaded recently thanks to a discussion about Cosmere easter eggs in The Stormlight Archives. Nightblood should grant the normal powers from a literary perspective. Brandon will either have a heck of a time explaining away why he grants something else in order to appease the average reader's suspension of disbelief, or have him grant the same powers. He might even blame it on Szeth and the Skybreaker's "Perception" of what it should grant.
  8. Oh right. I forgot about that entirely. That makes a lot of sense. To add to my "Shalash takes over in Chana's place" theory, maybe a proper Dustbringer teaches her the basics of using the powers. It'd make for an interesting scene. Although.. we have a WoB that some of the Heralds have swapped Honorblades in the past, so she might be somewhat familiar with the powers too. (unlikely, but if we already have a proto-Dustbringer before Shalash's book, it's better for Brandon to keep increasing our understanding of the powers rather than starting from scratch twice.) Which WoB specifically? There have been quite a few posted in here, and I want to be on the same page before discussing further.
  9. I disagree based on Shardic Intents. A Mistborn or Misting is only "Invested" when burning Metals. I'd consider a KR to be the same, only Invested when holding Stormlight. A Shard can choose to directly power their champion, but due to the risks, they'd probably only do that when their champion needed it. So I'd imagine that their respective Champions will only be heavily invested during that final confrontation. The "hyper-invested ness" would be a last minute thing, but I don't think Cultivation or Odium would choose a Champion last minute. Ruin might, but Ruin works in the here and now. Odium and Cultivation have more.. long-term Intents. I'd imagine they would have a Champion lined up already.
  10. The term would be "Divest," and I am fairly certain that I've read a WoB to the effect that they'd have to divest their power or rip themselves away from it. There is this one from November of 2016, but the word is used in the question, rather than the answer, so the canonocity is.. incomplete. We obviously thought the concept of divesting existed for the purposes of the question, so there's that. The earliest usage of "Divest" in regards to Shards is from Oudeis back in 2015. Without a WoB this is only speculation, but something made us think it was possible, and I can't find what it was. (Which is annoying me)
  11. My Favorites... Character: Szeth(Conflicted Characters are the best characters) Runner-Up: Rysn(She fascinates me the way everyone else seems enthralled by Lift) Chapter: WoK Interlude I-9: Death Wears White Battle: Szeth vs King Hanavanar and his Guards(How could I not? It's the "Windrunner trashing fools" fight we all want Kaladin to have in the future) Runner-Up: The Arena 4v1(Standard Favorite Scene Fodder) Runner-Up: Szeth vs Gavilar(The Hanavanar fight but with an opponent who knows what he's doing) I'm pleasantly surprised I have opinions people agree with this time around, given my favorite character in Game of Thrones is Cersei Lannister.
  12. Steel Lines are Spiritual in nature, so I don't think they count for the purposes of F-Tin. Any Coinshot or Lurcher can do the fancy sight. Granted, Marsh isn't giving any hints, but... I don't think this will get anywhere. Remember how abilities cap out at certain Heightenings? Life Sense is one of those abilities, and I don't think extra Preservation Investiture(Compounding) will be any different from extra Endowment Investiture(Breaths).
  13. The topic being resolved notwithstanding, this needs to be corrected anyway: The Mists do not automatically snap people. That is a very recent change. Leras sent the Mists into action as a reactionary response, not as a preemptive action.
  14. The WoB says hi. Doesn't necessarily make it easy, but it is definitively doable.
  15. Have a Sel WoB that the magics were Programming based even before the Shards were Splintered.
  16. Insert Edgedancer Resonance Discussion here. Warning: Link leads to the Edgedancer Spoiler Board.
  17. We have a WoB to the effect that Brandon had planned for each book will center around an Order. Book. It's the reason why we branded Eshonai a Willshaper-to-be and Shalash a Dustbringer-to-be in the first place, so we could have one of each in the Focus Characters. But Brandon has not specified anything further than each book will delve into an Order. And that distinction means everything. Baseless Speculation: Shalash's book could be the one where we learn about the Dustbringers from a Proto-Dustbringer(like say.. Adolin) who is working with Shalash for some reason. Say Chana died in battle, and Shalash is picking up the slack in the meantime. That is just as feasible within the above WoB as Shalash being a Dustbringer herself. Fun fact, that question pertained to Dustbringers.
  18. You become a Cognitive Shadow upon death regardless of Investiture Levels. Investiture Exposure during your life determines how long you can stay as a Shadow before being pulled into the Beyond. NB is something similar to a "Robot Spren." I don't know how Spren fit into the whole Cognitive Shadow spectrum.
  19. The Front Five: Kaladin: Survived Shallan: Survived Dalinar: Would it count if he dies before his final flashback in Oathbringer? (I doubt he will, but it's a sneaky way for Brandon to loophole us) Eshonai: Too soon. Don't think Brandon will bring her back in early-mid Oathbringer only to kill her before the end. He's not killing people off mid-character arc like GRRM yet. Szeth: I hope not. He's a personal favorite that I'd like to be in the back five. That and Nightblood will eventually have a part to play. The Back Five: (In Brandon's preliminary order from September 2016) Lift: I don't think he'd kill off Lift without exploring how she's matured over the 15 yr gap between the front and back five. Renarin: We'll have to see how his character develops in Oathbringer, but he's a definite maybe. Shalash: Wild Card. Taln: After 4,500 years in Braize, I don't think Brandon is gonna send him back anytime soon. I also feel like viewing flashbacks from past Desolations interspersed between him viewing the current one will be a wonderful compare/contrast exercise. Jasnah: She's currently the the last book, so she's got the best odds of being dead before the book happens. No matter their actual order: I doubt the first character in the back five will be dead already, for literary purposes.
  20. I'm.. not sure you can lash a Shardblade, even if it is your own. Lashing in your Shardplate is one thing, but Lashing your Shardplate itself is another. I would apply the same to Blades, given how heavily Invested they are. To quote myself from last time:
  21. Well, there is this thing called Atium... (This is the SA Forum, so a namedrop is all it gets) So in the Spiritual Realm, time and space mean little to nothing. One can see massive amounts of information in the form of connection. That information can be understood by the Shards, allowing them to see into the future. Honor likened it to a shattering mirror, which is the best metaphor I can give. The immediate future is predetermined, and people can react to it if they can see it(shown by Atium. If two people can both see it, they get into a feedback loop of potential futures a la shattering mirror. There reaches a point where there are just too many variables and uncertainties that anything you "see" in your future-sight would be a possibility, rather than a guarantee. The further forward in time you peer, the worse it gets. So to answer your question: .. sort of? Immediate future is decently predetermined, but far future is not.
  22. I'll hold to the logic that you'd still be constrained by the oaths of the other Order Spren, as the person they are bonded to is still technically you. I don't consider different personalities as separate enough when the Spiritual Realm is involved. CR maybe, but not the SR.
  23. I noticed. I obtained the other WoB on them yesterday from the last time you posted a mass-set on the Rhythms. I'm rather interested in them too, but not from a Realmatic Perspective. Yulerule's WoB is more my area of interest.
  24. Reasonable enough. Assuming they knew which was which, I'm curious why Hoid turned it down. That'd make at least 2 of the conspirators who didn't particularly want the spoils of war from it, which seems.. kinda low actually. I've been thinking about the WoB on the subject of the Shard Hoid was offered. The fact that we "haven't seen that one yet" tells us nothing about whether they knew which Shards they were getting. However, it tells us that the person who offered it is not one of the vessels we know of, as that person likely would have taken up the Shard after Hoid declined it. Oh right. Forgot they could (potentially) step down from Shardhood. My entire line of reasoning upended again
  25. Edit: I found the WoB. The Rhythms are of the Spiritual Realm
