  1. Finished Recursion - was impressed enough even if I'd strictly call it an upper B-tier read (maybe getting picky in my old age.) I like the concepts and how Blake Crouch handles light sci-fi. Makes me nostalgic for a Dark Matter re-read. Also finished re-reading A Last Song Before Night, on to Fire Dance, and then The Poet-King. I want to finish the trilogy just to have finished it. ALSbN is not as good as I remember it being. It's probably 0.5 a GGK at best in terms of prosody, and I felt the plot was middling. Many characters aren't particularly interesting and I just read a section in FD where two allies are stabbing each other for no particular reason. I'm curious enough about the worldbuilding to see this through, but lower B-tier.
  2. Unsurprisingly in light of recent news (RIP Matthew Perry), Friends rerun. Not a superfan but my school demographic had a significant number of ESL students, so we watched it for English classes and I have the nostalgia and still bust a gut laughing at some scenes.
  3. Not music per se as I tune it out when writing and in the zone. But sometimes I have a certain mood I want to capture and I have a playlist for those scenes/ideas. I have done some GMing to the Batman soundtrack before when trying to build scenes. Currently using the Dark OST for this NaNo.
  4. Probably too busy but still going to give it a shot. I haven't been as good about completing NaNo as I used to be, but on the other hand, nothing can ever beat the year I cleared it in one week and everything got borderline trippy because I was existing off caffeine and half-hallucinating paragraphs I didn't write. Might've been somewhere between GCE A levels and undergrad, so I didn't have enough time except for the one week.
  5. You needed to edit this into your post at the end of that QF and link people to it
  6. Nonsense. The power of broreads tells me both of you are always Village and trustworthy
  7. Surely Araris is simply always Village. My broreads tell me so!
  8. Isn't that a MatTunnel on stilts That's the occupational hazard when no one kayana enough to take a chance on V!you is playing
  9. Excellent, I can now broread E!Araris as V or paranoid on V!Araris and try to kill him again
  10. JSYK if there's another secret role in this game that's Nale and it turns out STINK is Truthless, I'm rage-quitting so hard you'll think you were roleblocked @Fifth Scholar Sir I did not sign up for this kind of Orlok kraem all over again
  11. Two Dustbringers, gone missing. Just like that. Word was already moving through the squad, as much as Callar'd kept his mouth shut until he made the report to the Blackthorn. Doggedly, Keleran moved through the katas, feeling the weight of the practice sword in his hand. Callar'd said to keep doing it, until they felt natural. Keleran wondered what'd happen if they never felt natural. He'd never wanted to be a Knight Radiant. It wasn't his sort of thing, Keleran thought, and Ellu'd agreed, even. Life had been simple enough; his father was a surgeon in the city of Shvekar and he'd known, even though his father'd never said a word, it'd been there, always, in the way he talked about the clinic, the way he talked about the practice, that there was nothing more that Merin would've liked than for one of his sons to grow up and take over the clinic. His grandfather and great-grandfather and great-great-great-grandfather, all the way through, as far as Merin could remember, had always been surgeons. It was easier, when you knew what you had to do. Vedeneth was going to be a surgeon somewhere far from Shvekar, and Nahalen had, unexpectedly, turned to work as a Stormwarden. Which meant that Merin wasn't going to say it of course, but there was only Keleran left, and as much as the sight of blood made him sick to his stomach, so did the thought of disappointing his father. Which meant that Keleran had known his future, right until that storming spren had come along in the midst of the Everstorm and— Sometimes, he couldn't help but resent Ellu for choosing him. Maybe Ellu knew. "Keleran, this is boring," Ellu sighed. But at least she wasn't making the pebbles of the training yard dance. Keleran counted his blessings. He ignored her, moving the wooden length of the blade through the sequences he couldn't seem to get right. "Keleran, you're ignoring me!" Ellu complained. He wasn't a fighter. Couldn't even stand the sight of the battlefield. The kata weren't sticking. But Ellu'd picked him, and she never said anything about unpicking him, no matter how much Keleran tried to pointedly suggest she'd made a mistake. Which meant that he had to figure things out, somehow. "Keleran!" "I'm practising," he ground out. "Callar doesn't practice this much everyday," she said, pointedly. "He spends time with his spren." Should've picked Callar then, shouldn't you? Keleran had wanted to say. But it was unworthy. He sighed. "Look. Let me just get through this last kata, and then I'll do what you want, alright?" Ellu cheered. Signing up as Keleran, probably the most reluctant Knight Radiant ever, -20/10 would not answer the Call again.
  12. Platinum, to me yes, and yes. I could take it back to the store and ask them to reseat it as I suspect them swapping the nib was what started the problem to begin with, but I just dislike taking nibs out for no reason. I'm just not sure if the failure to seat fully will be bad for the pen.
  13. Anyone knows if it's a problem if a nib can't be fully seated in the section? It juts out by just a little. In theory it should be able to, but I spent over an hour trying to fix the nib and it's not going in all the way. There's clearance in the cap, so it's not causing any problems, but I'm worried anyway. And no I didn't take it apart on a lark - the nib either was badly sprung or badly aligned, as the tines were consistently bent and so I wanted to check if there was debris between the nib and feed and that required stripping.
  14. It's a UK franchise I believe, that spread all over. Amusingly for Toot-toot, they had (at one point I think?) a more casual sub-franchise called Za Staying on-topic: for this one, I'll offer something I do when feeling too absurdly lazy to make my pizza dough from scratch: I stick the toppings in a bao and then just make a demonic hybrid of pizza (honestly more like an open calzone) and bao. Might not be non-traditional techniques, might be outright abomination, not sure
  15. Whose?
  16. Oh hell that's useful! Now to close the tab... >>
  17. Laksa pizza, I've had it before and liked it. Laksa sauce, prawn, squid, mussels, clams, quail eggs, and fried beancurd.
  18. Oh, how does it work?
  19. I have a LG ideally designed for 9-11 players (can take more), but if anyone above me wants to run, I'm game to let them go first. I believe Drake's (as the guy with the main priority slot here) intending to run an anon LG which theoretically can accommodate most player counts but is one game away from the minimum to run one - how tight are the requirements here?
  20. I'd add that my view was that I never considered it realistic for the Village to figure it out. I expected that if the Village were to break the loop, it'd be through sheer frustration-complaining, something like us frustration-exeing Archer in MR56 after circling aimlessly from fliplessness. In that sense, the point was to give the Village enough room by design to be wrong that they could plausibly get there. (I'm not going to comment about the changes between RAS and what happened in the game as my view is that it's not my job to, and that's Elan's job )
  21. LG side will likely be even less rushed than MR as Fifth hasn't yet sent in his ruleset. Nevertheless, options, i.e. get prepared, maybe 1. @Experience 2. wilson / El (unlikely) 3. @Random Bystander (unlikely) 4. @The Known Novel 5. @Karnatheon (unlikely) 6. @Araris Valerian 7. Me I'll add three wildcards: @StrikerEZ, @DrakeMarshall, @|TJ|, all of whom have inactive high-priority slots, and could jump most of the queue if reactivating. Striker and TJ would still come after Experience, if not TKN in TJ's case, but Drake would be right on top of the queue.
  22. Indeed, what sort of genius depraved mind would come up with such a game, Drake??? :EYES:
  23. My game just ended yesterday, and of course a new MR won't start so fast. But let's flag the MR list so people can prepare, especially if you need to finalise a game. 1. @Fifth Scholar 2. @Matrim's Dice 3. @Quirksliver 4. @Karnatheon (missing) 5. @Ashbringer 6. @Steeldancer (missing) 7. @JNV
  24. I wouldn't have without some hard questions about the circumstances of the scan, and the fact you were implicitly claiming one. But fake scans have been a major part of the games I've played, as have Evil Seekers. In a cycle not lylo, fewer questions and probably more willing to believe, but the numbers dictated otherwise at that point.
  25. As a GM, this would be my pick for MVP as well. It takes time, yeah. We all gotta start somewhere, and usually it takes falling for the trick once to be more careful the next time.
