    I know we have a community here filled with individuals with vibrant imaginations, but do any of you have creative outlets that take tangible form? Crochet/knitting, painting, photography, just to name a few? I'm all excited to go buy yarn at the moment so that I can make an afghan for friends who are getting married in December. It's it's own kind of buzz, to have decided on a project and know I'm only a few supplies away from when the fun begins! Any others out there who are into "arts & crafts?"

    I had kind of the opposite reaction due to seeing/reading in reverse order from you. Funny how important your first experience is! I think what sealed DWJ as one of my favorite authors was reading the sequel to Howl's Moving Castle and finding I really loved that, too. So then I wanted to read more from her. Later I came to terms with the differences between the movie and the book, same as you. I should read the book again now that a few years have passed. I did like how much more Letty featured in the book, for one thing. Definitely adding that to my vacation reading list (vacation scheduled for September).

    Loving the engineering genes, maxal and Tien's! My dad is a chemical engineer. Maybe it's just skipped a generation and my kids (still non-existent) will be more fortunate.

    I'll concede some of the downpoints in your post. For me, though, I guess I like this episode more for what can be learned from it, however rough the telling is at times. When you got to the part in the recap about the sisters reunion, I started to tear up a bit. I hadn't ever realized that this aired around when Avatar was on. I only watched Avatar via DVD (my brother got them as they were released and loaned them to me), and also was a latecomer to watching MLP, so this connection is one I never would have made myself! Pinkie Pie definitely grows on you. I remember getting a little annoyed with her at first, but, to make another Avatar connection here, Sokka also used to annoy me to no end at the beginning of Avatar. He ended up being my favorite character in that show. I don't think Pinkie Pie will ever be my favorite, but it's much easier to laugh at her antics now.

    The lady who checked me out at Lowes last night and was experiencing lag-time on her computer claimed the slowness was due to the Supermoon. So, you know, could be. *shrug* I'm a paralegal a/k/a legal assistant. It's right smack in the middle of a secretary and an attorney. We sometimes do things secretary-ish yet need to have a little more expertise and quite often do things you'd think would be left for a lawyer. I've been one since 2003, a year after I got out of college. The first year out, I taught high school math. I learned my introvertedness was bad enough that anxiety medicine was all that would keep me going with that high of a social-drain rate. The stress skipped my brain and went straight to my body (elevated heart rate, got a lot of ear infections, etc.). So glad that's in the past! To keep the law thing in the family, my husband and father-in-law are both attorneys.

    Some good ones on the last three pages, a few of which I'll repeat. Sticking just with books, because if I were to go into film (live action or anime), this would be an even longer list. My first fictional love: Faramir (Lord of the Rings). Eowyn and Samwise are also favorites from LotR. In no particular order: Arya and Tyrion from ASoIaF Lightsong and Vasher from Warbreaker Alcatraz Smedry & Grandpa Smedry Syl and Pattern Elend Venture, Sazed & TenSoon (I like you, too, Vin and Kelsier, just not quite as much.) Valentine Wiggin from the Ender books Luna Lovegood (Ravenclaw all the way!!!) Aviendha and Mat (who really had to grow on me...hated him at first) from WoT Auri & Elodin from The Kingkiller Chronicles (can't wait for her novella!) Basically the whole cast from The Belgariad/Mallorean books, but if I had to pick a favorite, Garion/Belgarion himself. Taran, Eilonwy and Gywdion from The Prydain Chronicles Edmund from The Chronicles of Narnia Christopher Chant/Chresomanci, Conrad & Throgmorten (temple cate) from The Chrestomanci books by Diana Wynne Jones Morwen & her cast of cats from The Enchanted Forest Chronicles Harry Dresen, Thomas Raith, Mouse, Michael Carpenter, Butters, Molly, and bad guy Nicodemus etc., etc. from The Dresden Files Hercule Poirot and Hastings I'll stop there. I will probably remember more later. I love a lot of characters.

    I also really like Mozart, though I enjoy playing Bach a lot, too. Mozart just has this...flare...about his music. Still haven't watched it, but we finally got him to lend the DVD to us last night! So, hopefully this week!
