Why the embarassment? It's a sign of physical prowess. It is more likely tp attract a mate or frighten predators than it is to embarass anyone.

Which, as it happens, is the name of a topic created just so new users could be brought up to date on Cosmere knowledge, so lucky for you. And don't think you're duller than normal for not figuring this out on your own. I'd be completely clueless if it weren't for the 17th Shard and the wiki. Again, welcome and happy worldhopping!

Maybe he found a way to trigger Returning deliberately? Then he could have (somehow) used copperminds to fill in the memory gaps. Copper Compounding, maybe? In any case, I'd be curious to see if a Feruchemist Returned could access previous copperminfs.

I feel bad since you keep posting questions I can't answer... I haven't seen all the Writing Excuses episodes, and I'm usually pretty detached from modern movies. Have an apologetic waffle. If you're looking for other works of fiction featuring AIs, I can point you towards I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein. Those are all written by the three most influential sci-fi writers of the 20th century, show if you haven't read them all I'd definitely recommend doing so.
