Just for review in The Dalles: Samurai pandas are flooding the streets. An army of pandas, pigs, and assorted mutants are invading the city's borders. The Panda himself is floating above them, born by angelic wings and issuing a battlecry. Edgerunner, Scribbler, and the Momentum Twins are engaging the ground forces in the city; Vondra's scouting out the situation in a helicopter. Reader's been captured. (And I'm not entirely sure where he's being held at the moment.) Does that all sound right? Anything really important that I'm forgetting about the general state of the battle? And does anyone know where Reader is, exactly?

"Astronomers call her 'The Mare in the Moon.' She's not a horse, nor is she ugly, but astronomers know how much it irritates her when they call her that."

Hmm. I was under the impression that she was pretty close, but it took a little bit more to trigger it fully. (I thought she needed to actually know what she was saying in order to activate it fully. ) But then, that was just the general impression I was under. We'll need to talk to Mailliw about it to be sure. Also, Lucentia's a slontze. An observant slontze perhaps, but a slontze nonetheless.

It wasn't his exact weakness. Think of it like how Kool-Aid effected Sourcefield. Sam came close to it, close enough to cause him to flicker, but my understanding is that she wasn't precise enough to completely shut it down. Lightwards didn't notice since he was tipsy and glaring at Funtimes. Funtimes doesn't seem to have noticed since... well, she's Funtimes and she was too busy giggling. (Great Funtimes post by the way, Twi.) Aldo noticed, and Lucentia probably did too. I can imagine either one of them cornering Sam after the meeting is over and trying to pressure her to reveal what she said that set AM off.

It's been confirmed that the prologue to Calamity takes place in the Knighthawk Foundry. Speak to Newan for details, he's the one who went to the signing and found out.

Granted. It is extremely anti-climatic, and it ruins the entire remaining series. Brandon Sanderson personally vows to have you banned from the forum for forcing the plot twist before it was ready. I wish for an obedient pet dinosaur. -
Great post, Mailliw! I do have one question, though. How difficult to get rid of is the Mrs. Trattner hallucination? We've seen from Thoughttown posts that Altermind can cause hallucinations in people even after he's left their presence. Will the sobbing Elizabeth stay put in the Sadry residence, or will she invisibly follow Sam around wherever she goes until AM's weakness is activated again? (If the latter, then Altermind would have just made a huge mistake--both by threatening her mother, and by giving her a direct means of testing which part of her message set off his weakness. )

"Once, there was an ugly barnacle. And he was so ugly, Nighthound died! The end." (I never watched that show often, but Patrick's barnacle story stuck with me for some reason. )

I like him. I don't have anything to say about him that I haven't said in the PM, but I will say that I think starfish loincloths will quickly become the fashion in Oregon.

Sorry. If I had infinite time--or Mitosis' power--I'd have a dozen characters in every RP on the forum. As things stand, I'll have to prioritize a little bit. I may find a way to include Jingleberry at some point. I mean, she has a pony and everything. It'd be a downright waste if she never appeared at all. (Perhaps if Aldo or one of my characters in another RP dies.)

What Happened in Oregon predominantly takes place eight years after Annexation Day, in a world completely dominated by Epics in most regions. The RP is thus set two years before Steelheart.

Annexation Day. That's when Steelheart took over Chicago and turned the city into steel. It was also when Nightwielder shrouded the city in darkness, and marked the beginning of the end for society as we know it across the world.

I lurked for about a month, reading thread after thread in dewy-eyed fascination with the Cosmere. I eventually decided to join since I wanted to join the community. I wasn't a contemporary of Zucchini, but I'm pretty sure he was just a jerk who was picking fights on the forum. Hardly worthy of [REDACTED].

Unrelated, but I need to announce this somehow. I'm dropping out of What Happened in Astoria, with the exception of occasional Sharkbait scenes. As Edge pointed out on the Paidiá thread I haven't been reliably keeping up with Portland and The Dalles , so I won't be participating in Astoria. That is all.

Framework: An Epic capable of controlling skeletal matter, reinforcing his own bones into an indestructible skeleton and creating bone spikes from his arms and legs. The rest of his blood vessels/muscles rearrange around the new bone structure. Can instantly pulverize the skeletons of other human beings with a touch. Miasma: Can spontaneously create a cloud of purple, lethal gas, with the ability to control it as well. Uses her ability to create toxic, corrosive barriers between locations, and can create near-solid constructs out of the gas. Threeleaper: A former chess champion with a highly strategic mind. Line-of-sight teleportation, which allows three teleports in a row with a thirty minute cooldown period. Can teleport objects such as swords or daggers directly into the hearts of people. Those are all off the top of my head. I can try to come up with others, though.

Good question. Either the obvious shockwave-creating powers, or some kind of ability to control surface tension. Or any ability that starts in one place and spreads out from there, really.

That's the story of my life, minus the coppermind. -
Yeah, Yeips pretty much portrays the darker side of the chiskreven race. He is to chiskreven what Scar is to lions. (My goal is for people to begin chanting "And then Yeips died" at least once. ) Hael and Tsich will definitely get PoVs. I'm not sure about Yeips yet. Since magic in this world is entirely predicated on forming a relationship with a god, my guess is that a chiskreven who'd been raised by humans would be able to worship and use the magic of a human's tribe deity. You'd have to ask Mrs. Voidus to be absolutely certain, but that's my understanding of it. (It's CHISK-reven.)

Great post! I'm quite excited to have this thing starting. Here are the basic bios for a few chiskreven characters. I'll flesh them out a bit more as we continue, but I felt it important to give a general idea of my characters now. Mrs. Voidus, let me know if anything needs changing. Also, if we're allowed to use character icons here like in WHIO, I'd like to use this as my general chiskreven icon:

Granted. The entire south island of New Zealand is torn apart by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Like Atlantis of old, it sinks to the depths of the ocean with you, Brandon Sanderson, and the rest of south New Zealand's population. I wish for a copy of the Necronomicon. -
It could fit if Adonalsium were an interstellar starship. In seriousness I like this idea. I love seeing outside-the-box thinking like this.

I wonder if to this day, people of Wyoming tell stories about the strange season in which the zucchini fairies left gifts of vegetables throughout town.

No problem! It's also implied by Prof that he loved the Lord of the Rings series, and that they're where he drew his name from. I'm not sure if that's noteworthy enough for the list, but it's one of the only details we have about him.

Cool map! I'm not entirely sure where the chiskreven forest atop the natural formation should go, so I'd appreciate suggestions. And I definitely look forward to the first post.
