  1. Yeah when you get close to the breakpoint, it does that.
  2. Those aren't going away! A while after Oathbringer I'll probably add some new OB inspired ones.
  3. Jebus is coming! Probably not on our podcasts (UK scheduling makes scheduling even more nightmarish) but he's making videos!
  4. Hi! I did remove the ability to downvote earlier today. I have long been a proponent of having downvotes. It's a very good way to censure abrasive people who jerks, after all, and the community can police themselves. Great idea, right? Then the community can see the average opinion on a post. That's all great in theory and it does generally identify abrasive, jerkish behavior very effectively. So I've been a pretty big proponent of downvotes historically. It worked when we were a smaller community. Downvotes were used sparingly. As things progressed, that's changed. Downvotes are given out flippantly, silencing discussion on some topics and people get very hurt. A lot of times it's just people hashing things out in discussion and downvotes--despite being anonymous--still causes discussion to escalate. If it doesn't help discourse be better, what's the point of us having it? Reddit's advantage to downvotes and upvotes is that posts are actually sorted by that amount and stuff people don't like is auto-hidden. It's nice. Topics do not sort by reputation, and instead are chronological. It's different. That means rep as a community average isn't as valuable here as it is there. Reputation is supposed to be fun and useful. Downvotes often are not this. If you are reading out there and worried about downvotes going away, there's still a report button. Jerks won't be tolerated. Use it I will say that in the next site update (December maybe) we will be moving to a reaction system, similar to Facebook, where you can more accurately say why you "liked" a particular post.
  5. I do agree with Argent, but I would also say you are likely to get epubs of Oathbringer for cheaper than $35.
  6. You can already exclude RAFOs by excluding the tag rafo.
  7. We are going to move Surge info to the Surge page off of Surgebinding. I don't think there's enough to have a page on each Surge yet.
  8. Discord is down again
  9. Also, discuss here:
  10. I know this isn't a death rattle, but this epigraph of a listener song certainly has new meaning: Pretty obvious in retrospect.
  11. There's still some issues: https://status.discordapp.com It is excruciating, I need my fix!
  12. You can upload this directly: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/173-oathbringer-san-francisco-signing/ In the future let's put new audio in the event thread, not buried in this corrections thread However, thank you!
  13. When you get a chance please upload audio here: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/173-oathbringer-san-francisco-signing/ Additionally if you have gotten stuff in signed books also post the image here so we can verify it.
  14. My US hardcover says "And Dalinar gradually realizes" on its inside flap.
  15. I agree; go to the Maya thread. I will close this one
  16. Definitely, this was a huge eye-opening thing when I reread the Death Rattles. This one could refer to the humans destroying Roshar with Surgebinding.
  17. Actually @Kapin I'd like you to post this in the Event thread, so Arcanists can keep track of this easier when we input stuff things into events. If you just came from the San Francisco signing, post here: Thanks for joining! Hope to see you around
  18. Post these here: I will be locking this thread.
  19. There are some full book spoilers here. Wait a bit
  20. That definitely could be!
  21. Welcome to Shardcast, the Brandon Sanderson Podcast. Today we are here to discuss the Oathbringer's Part Two Epigraphs. That means it does have Oathbringer spoilers, and actually full Oathbringer spoilers--we can't contain our excitement. But we want to dive into some of the most mysterious epigraphs in Oathbringer today. This podcast also contains spoilers for the first Mistborn trilogy (Mistborn Era 1). We're joined today with Kerry, Ian, David, Eric, and Alyx. We are also joined by Alyx's terrible mic quality and Kerry's crackling on her mic. Just the quality you expect, I'm sure! Guess what? We have a YouTube channel now! There will at least be monthly videos on it, though you can expect around the craziness of a book release, we'll have a lot more than that. Stay tuned next week where you'll find us squeeing about Oathbringer in a longer-than-usual podcast. Of course, if you want to listen on Soundcloud, that's perfectly fine! We'll be posting there too. And eventually you'll get to see our beautiful faces on camera, don't worry, but not this month I'm afraid! Shardcast is actually coming to iTunes soon (yes, really!), and we'll let you know when it's in.
  22. And we reported on it here http://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/apocalypse-guard-pulled-some-mystery-project-info-way-of-kings-chapter-5-annotation-r349/
  23. @Farnsworth planning to record the Q&A and the signing line?
  24. If you get audio, make sure you upload to Arcanum's event! https://wob.coppermind.net/events/172-oathbringer-san-diego-signing/
