Shardcast: Oathbringer Part Two Epigraphs

Welcome to Shardcast, the Brandon Sanderson Podcast. Today we are here to discuss the Oathbringer's Part Two Epigraphs. That means it does have Oathbringer spoilers, and actually full Oathbringer spoilers--we can't contain our excitement. But we want to dive into some of the most mysterious epigraphs in Oathbringer today. This podcast also contains spoilers for the first Mistborn trilogy (Mistborn Era 1).

We're joined today with Kerry, Ian, David, Eric, and Alyx. We are also joined by Alyx's terrible mic quality and Kerry's crackling on her mic. Just the quality you expect, I'm sure!

Guess what? We have a YouTube channel now! There will at least be monthly videos on it, though you can expect around the craziness of a book release, we'll have a lot more than that. Stay tuned next week where you'll find us squeeing about Oathbringer in a longer-than-usual podcast. Of course, if you want to listen on Soundcloud, that's perfectly fine! We'll be posting there too. And eventually you'll get to see our beautiful faces on camera, don't worry, but not this month I'm afraid!

Shardcast is actually coming to iTunes soon (yes, really!), and we'll let you know when it's in.

Should I wait to finish the book to listen to this, or am I fine having read all of Part Two and about half of Part 3?

I think sometimes we think of "endowment" as being benevolent, just like y'all mention, but endowment also includes having natural abilities, so I can see her having problems with people who aren't "naturally endowed" or who don't accept those gifts. She's obviously okay with hierarchy and with some people being "better" than others (e.g., she chooses the Returned, and they are then placed in "power"). I can see this "endowment" working almost to segregate. Which would explain her almost "us" vs. "you" idea.

@FeatherWriter confessed to not having read Sixth of the Dusk, which actually made me happy. Now there's potential for another Splintercast!

Weeeelll I'm like halfway through it but then I got distracted. So I probably would not Splintercast that one just because it'd be weird.

I want Jebus!

Jebus is coming! Probably not on our podcasts (UK scheduling makes scheduling even more nightmarish) but he's making videos!

3rd Letter: Also, Hoid could have been using Nalthis as a sort of base of operations when Fortune wasn't tugging him one way or another.  He'd have needed to amass all those Breath somehow.  RE: w/r/t the letter's writer (the 1st OB letter, that is) saying that Hoid had come to her lands multiple times.

4th Letter: I am highly amused by the idea that Bavadin is essentially an MMO player with a severe case of alt-itis.

5th Letter: I let out the biggest squee when I realized Harmony was writing that letter.  Even bigger than the one when I twigged to Vivenna.  Also, isn't Mistborn Era 3 during the timeskip after Stormlight 5?  That seems like an excellent opportunity for Hoid to brief Harmony on things.  Although if this many things got dropped during Stormlight _3_ I've no idea what the status quo will be by the end of Stormlight _4_, let alone by the time skip.
