  1. We've had a few reports of people being able to acquire The Emperor's Soul already! First, two days ago, our member Yados was able to grab one at the downtown Brooklyn Barnes & Noble. And today, Rubix (Josh) saw that the Jordan Landing Barnes & Noble in West Jordan, Utah had 23 in stock. (UPDATE: I have managed to spot six copies in Montana, and another member reports finding some in Maine) So maybe check your local bookstore and see if you can acquire a copy. If you do manage to get one, no spoilers on the forums on it, even in Cosmere Theories (for now, until the official sell date). We will probably make a special spoiler board for it soon, if you acquire it. It seems that street dates aren't really hard-and-fast for small publishers, but buying it earlier may have a negative effect on its sales ranking. Brandon's assistant, Peter, said this about it: So, obviously, you should just buy one copy now and one in November.
  2. Okay guys we need to stop calling a full Mistborn + Feruchemist a "twinawesome." That is the worst possible name for it ever.

  3. Zach is amazing.
  4. If you missed the livestream of Brandon's guest appearance on Patrick Rothfuss's show, Story Board, you can watch it right . Joining those two are Cherie Priest and Terry Brooks. It's really full of awesome, even if you're not a writer. Also amusing? How Brandon's subtitle kept changing. Our members Tien and InsurrectionFungus caught them all here. Brandon Sanderson: President: Pat Rothfuss Unofficial Fan Club.
  5. Very interesting, I will have to see if I can find it at my Barnes and Noble. EDIT: What! A book named the Emperor's Soul deals with the Spiritual Realm and its connections? Madness!
  6. It already exists (see the Chat tab at the top). Topic closed.
  7. I would like to announce that I have written the best word problem for my students, ever. Observe! EDIT: And yes, the numbers do come out to 91% tin
  8. Peter had said this comment meant "world", not universe. It was poorly phrased. EDIT: Specifically, this right here: I highly doubt that; I feel the rules for Investiture and magic will be pretty much the same. If anything, the fundamental mystery of "how Adonalsium shattered" will be logical and build into the overarching theory of magic.
  9. Haha, no worries. It's an easy mistake to make. Topic closed
  10. You saw one more of them than I did. I think you got them all.
  11. I saw you plugging 17th Shard in the comments there Good on you!
  12. Yeah, that's the problem with Stormblessed. They are nice and all (though pretty inactive), but I think you get more coming at it from more cosmere awareness. Stroniax, has anything been there that hasn't been talked about here?
  13. You like Zane and dislike Marasi? I can't be friends with you anymore (Just kidding. Maybe.)
  14. I would personally prefer if you wish to close your own post, you just post in the topic asking an admin or moderator to close it. It would certainly be possible, but I still prefer that extra layer of oversight.
  15. Wait, did you read all of Liar, or just those sample chapters? I'm not sure what the status on Liar is now. Last time Brandon posted his giant list of future projects on his site, he listed Liar of Partinel there. Maybe he scrapped it now and the plot threads will be woven into the main Dragonsteel epic.
  16. Astute watchers of Brandon's website may have noticed (before Stormlight 2's progress bars began in earnest) that Brandon snuck in a revision to The Rithmatist, a book formerly known as Scribbler. Well, last week, Tor.com revealed the cover for The Rithmatist, which you can see right here. So what is The Rithmatist? Well, it's a YA fantasy novel published by Tor Teen in May 2013. Brandon had finished the original draft of it in April 2007, but never had a chance to revise it (there was that thing you may have heard of--the Wheel of Time? Yeah). But now, it's ready to go. So while this year we don't get a non-Wheel of Time epic from Brandon, we get Legion and the Emperor's Soul, and we'll be getting The Rithmatist in May to tide us over until Stormlight 2. And you should definitely be excited about The Rithmatist. Here's what Brandon's editor at Tor Teen, Susan Chang, says on it: As you can probably surmise from the cover, it is also steampunk. Yes. Steampunk, alternate America, and chalk. Sign me up, please. Even more exciting is that Ben McSweeney (Inkthinker), who has illustrated things in The Way of Kings and the Mistborn Adventure Game, is illustrating The Rithmatist as well. If this excites you, then you'll be really thrilled to know that Brandon's agent's website says that books #2 and #3 are under contract. There will be plenty of chalky goodness to go around. 17. Okay Well, if you don't mind, I'm going to close this topic, since this has been pretty well debunked by now.
  18. In addition to the (incomplete) Coppermind, Zas has an excellent Cosmere 101 thread which gives a good introduction to this stuff.
  19. What post are you referring to?
  20. Um, are you suggesting that there are twenty Shards of Adonalsium, or twenty types of Shardblades, or what? This image actually represents neither: it represents the ten orders of Knights Radiant and the ten Surges. You see, each order of Radiants (the bigger symbols on that picture) utilize two of the Surges (the smaller circles). So, the lines there are connecting Orders to which particular Surges--abilities--they use. A few Surges are Gravity, Pressure, and Transformation. So basically this image relates to things on Roshar, not general cosmere. All evidence suggests that there are sixteen Shards of Adonalsium. (For example: "Three of sixteen ruled, but now the Broken One reigns." This definitely refers to Shards.) EDIT: Stroniax, please do not double post. The edit button exists for a reason, thanks
  21. I tried reading the Blade Itself, and while the characters were interesting, I got busy, put the book down and never picked it back up. The plot and setting didn't compel me enough forward.
  22. Moved to the Mistborn board. I do believe he will be releasing it eventually, but I don't know when. However, you know you can buy the ebook of the RPG for $15 right? It has the short story in it. I think the story itself is worth the money. (And you happen to get an amazing RPG too; great resource at the very least) Not too bad.
  23. All Hoid's base BELONG TO ME!!!! Wouldn't you like to know what's in there?
  24. Though that length also includes the question length, too, right?
