"The current one is pretty chill."

“From what I’ve heard, that’s only true if you don’t mind being enslaved or drafted. Though the Vorin don’t draft women, do they? Idiots.”

"I think it's stupider that they don't let men read, but okay."

“I don’t recall specifying that their idiocy was limited to a single direction.” Kelsier smirked. “That wouldn’t be nearly foolish enough.”

Lilliana sighed. Well, I might as well be productive... She pulled her notebook and pencil back out of the bag, and started marking off different sections. Okay. Section 1 will be for Chemistry, Section 2 will be for Biology, Section 3 will be for Physics, and Section 4 will be for engineering. I'll also make an extra section for Genetics. Yeah, that should work. I know quite a bit about genetics, as that is my favorite scientific field. She nodded to herself, and started working on drawing out different chemical structures. First: Sodium Bicarbonate, NaHCO3. If I am going to do any chemistry stuff at all, I'll need baking soda handy. Isopropanol could also be useful when cleaning up. Yeah, I'll put that down too. And I'll want to add common chemical formulas. Yeah. I'll add Sodium Chloride, Glucose, Ammonia, Acetic Acid... I guess I'll add Ethanol and Methanol. I mean, I do have Isopropanol. She kept adding different chemical formulas to the chemistry section of her notebook. I should add chemical structures for things I could use. Like Aspirin. Or Ibuprofen. Or Caffeine. Yeah.

I may have a tendency to look up different chemicals... I am a HUGE science nerd.

"What are you writing?" I ask, curious.

Her face reddened a bit. "Well, I was bored, so I started writing out chemical compounds." She said "These first ones are extremely common, like salt, sugar, baking soda, and vinegar. These other ones are some random, but useful, chemical compounds."

"Oh. Cool. Man, I wish I had a hobby that may actually help me in the future..."

She gave him a flat look. "Yeah." She said dryly. "It's not like reading could possibly be useful in this situation." She then grinned at him, fairly sure she had gotten her point across.

"I'm not sure if reading is a hobby- I think it's a pastime. Hobbies are more active while reading is more passive."

All right. I have to get in here. Not sure how logical is that, since I do get into reading when I read, but let's say...

Hoblim looks up from the book after finishing storing the relevant portions of the book.

"Reading? Pastime? Well, I guess it can be. But I think I count reading as a hobby. Maybe it's not exactly active, but it can get a little active with theorizers."

He stops talking for a moment.

"Not that I'm one, but still."

She snorted. "I'm not so sure..."

"Agreed." She said, turning back to her notes. "Would either of you know the chemical formula of ortho diethynylbenzene dianion by any chance? I can't for the life of me remember what it is... Bases aren't my strong suit. I tend to forget them."

I don't know why, but I am really bad at remembering bases. It's so weird.

This. You need to respond to this.

"Surrender? Surrender what? was the one who said the Rosharans were stupid. We were on the same page."

“The conversation.” He turned away from her, taking out a book. He leaned back as he ran his fingers over the letters, enjoying the story.
