Kelsier smiled, tracking her with bronze and steel sight. He waited until she landed near the local tavern, then slipped away to change.

Adrienne pushed her way into the tavern and looked around for the sketchy hooded guy.

A boy of about thirteen entered the tavern a few minutes after Adrienne. Dark hair fell about his face, the right side of which was covered by a large, stained bandage. Several people in the bar waved at the boy’s entry. He was clearly a regular and well known to them.

The boy took his drink from the bartender, settling himself on a stool at the far end of the bar. Shortly thereafter he became virtually unnoticeable.

But, by 'virtually unnoticeable,' he became incredibly suspicious to Adrienne. She got a drink and sat down across from him.

Kelsier smiled. “I dimmed their Connection, but not yours,” he explained, mumbling the words into his cup.

Adrienne didn't complain. She slapped Kelsier. Hard. After that, she grabbed her drink and stormed away from his table.

She wasn't even acting.

Kelsier swallowed his ale, swiping the back of his hand across his mouth, keeping in character for the urchin he was pretending to be. Hopefully, Adrienne wouldn’t be taking too long; his alcohol tolerance didn’t transfer, even though his scars did. There was probably meaning to that, if he cared to look.
