"What does it matter, mind or body? For every one man you 'break,' I slaughter dozens, if not hundreds of traitors to the crown!" Caden scoffed, his confidence starting to become overpowering. "And your mythical age doesn't bother me, woman. All things must die."

"Yes." Riva's smile crept further up her cheeks and her eyes narrowed.. "Even you, General." Her blue eyes seemed to glow surrounded by so much black. She was insane, she was absolutely inhuman.

Caden's stomach sank, and so did his confidence. Just looking into the Ravenness's eyes for a brief moment made him feel uneasy, but the way they she said that made all of his perceived power flee. Caden shuddered, deciding to shut his mouth while turning back to face his food. He tried to regain the confidence that had just been there, but to no avail.

I won, Riva thought in a sing-song voice. She couldn't resist a slightly maniacal cackle. "Know your place, General Praetorium," Riva said, stabbing her cake pointedly. "Or I will put you in it."

Caden's better judgement seemed to disappear as a deep and powerful growl escaped his chest, the fork he had pick up in his right hand bent like wax in his grip. But he didn't speak, his mouth clenched too hard for any words to escape from.

"Grr," Riva mocked, voice dripping with sarcasm. She leaned back in her seat ate her cake calmly.

Caden stood up, his chair being thrown back by the abruptness of the action. He didn't speak an excuse, his mind far too hot with anger to even bother. He turned to walk away from the table, and his wife.

"Oh, yes, go throw your temper tantrum, Caden. We'll wait."

Alienor pulled out a small stack of paper. "Here, I think I'm done with these." The stack was made up of needlework patterns and various sketches Alienor had done.

Nico took it with the intent of folding them, but his eyes widened upon seeing her art. "Well, I'll be. You drew these, miss?"

"Uh... yes?"

"Aww, they's gorgeous, miss." He handed the stack to Arabella. "Here, you pick out the one you wants me tuh fold, yeah?"

Alienor blushed. "Thank you."

Nico blushed right back, grinning. "Well, don't let yer food get cold, miss."

Ara flipped through them, eyes open wide, then picked one of a hummingbird next to a flower and showed it to Nico.

Riva paled white as a sheet and dropped her fork in disbelief. "What? Y-you can't..." Actually he could. He was the king. She fumed, white face turning red. "Why would you do such a thing? You need me; an assassin is in those dungeons and you need to know why he was trying to kill you."

"Does an assassin need a reason to kill his king?"

"If he was hired," said Riva said tightly, "the person who did so will likely send someone else. You're, what, just going to execute him without me doing anything?"

Caden started coughing, as he had taken in a breath at the revelation while he was sipping his drinking. After firmly pounding his chest and clearing his throat, he tried to act as if nothing had happened and he continued to ignore the Ravenness; or try to ignore her, anyways.
