The man reaches the top of the stairs. His eyes fall on the pattern etched into the floor directly beneath a hole in the ceiling. With shaking hands, he pulls an orangish-red orb from his backpack and moves to place it in the center. He can feel the power pulsing in the orb, giving off a feeling of anticipation as it approaches the symbol.

Just as the orb is an inch away from the stylized floor, something stops it in its tracks. A black knife, thrown from the hand of his opponent, carried by the wind the last few yards just in time to halt his goal before it could be accomplished.
He has just enough time for his heart to sink before a wall of wind slams him into the wall.
Miraculously, his grip on the orb remains firm even as the wind continues its relentless assault. He struggles to breathe, to move, to somehow fight the pressure holding him in place. A cold tingle races down his neck as his captor strides towards him. A few moments later, he hears her footsteps as she reaches out to pull the orb from his hands.
His mind is suddenly filled with a sense of deja vu as he recalls the first time he'd been pinned by the winds of his adversary. The day that had started it all. He'd failed then- but someone had been there to catch his mistake. There was no one to catch his mistake now.
Or... was there?
With one final act of desperation, the man reaches deep inside of himself and pulls on his bond with the orb in his hand.
And with a sigh of relief, the barrier breaks.

His pursuer is flung across the room as reddish-orange energy pulses from him.

"Hmm... I don't know. Maybe the Anti Hero is lurking around here somewhere." @Mystic Syn

"Oh, he wouldn't be so bad. I probably could evoke his justice or revenge to follow me."

“Ah, revenge, such an antiquated emotion.”

We should probably start moving. Maybe we should find a lair, or something?

"Indeed. Now, we need a LAIR. I would prefer a spooky old castle, but judging by the tech level of this world, I'm going to assume a castle is going to be difficult to obtain and nearly useless for defense. Any ideas?"

I see my chance to enter this rp and I'll take it for 500, Alex.

The man from earlier walked into the cemetery, not giving a second glance to the undead army. He looked up at the others and grinned wickedly, studying them up and down. "My dear," he said, smoothly, "as much as I love castles, I don't believe it's in the budget."

He tapped his chin in thought, the wicked grin still playing on his lips. "Although I hate to interrupt. . . whatever you were doing, I have someplace where you can set up shop around here. Who knew that when you play your cards right, people tend to give you places to live?" The man's wicked grin slowly crept into madness, lingering for a second before fading.

Okay.

Name: Concerto
Looks: Cheetah/human mix with gold eyes and shaggy longish sandy brown hair. He's got fur, ears, and a tail.
Powers: He's got shapeshifting, but only between cheetah and human. He's also got a cheetah personality in his head (whose name is Motif), but Motif's been stamped down.
Personality: Cocky.

Does this work?

It's all good for me, my dude. If anyone else has a problem, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Concerto strolled in.

The man glanced at the newcomer, taking notice of his ears and tail but looked as if it wasn't the most craziest thing he's ever seen. "Hey there, kitty," he said, turning fully towards Concerto. "Come to free us from this madness?" He gestured towards the undead army.

Concerto hissed and his claws unsheathed. "Don't call me kitty. I think you can all free yourselves just fine."

"Feisty kitty, I like you." A mad smirk tugged the corner of his lip. "I'm not sure if the others can free themselves from their problems, so don't assume about that, kitty."

Concerto leapt toward the man, slashing his claws just in front of his face. He watched the man's reaction carefully. "I said, don't call me kitty."

The man sidestepped with ease, his hand reaching inside his coat pocket. "Uh uh, I wouldn't try that if I were you." He cocked his head towards Concerto, noticing that Concerto was watching him. "It wouldn't end well for you, kitty."

He hadn't been scared. Funny. "Wouldn't it?"

The man didn't bat an eye. He shrugged, chuckling in madness. "Tell that to the people that ended up with a bullet to the head by yours truly." The man looked up, pursing his lips. "I don't think that would matter to you as it would for the passerby."

"I'm faster than you think. What are you all doing here, anyway?"

"I'm sure you are, kitty," he said with the hint of skepticism, not elaborating. "I'm here because they need to find somewhere to hole up. I have no clue what they're doing."

"We all do." He gave a mad chuckle. "I assume that yours is more accessible and doesn't have bodies littering the entryway, as mine does?"

"Yes, and not usually."

The man nodded. "Practicing patience, I see."

He glanced to the others, even though he had only walked into their conversation two minutes ago. "What do you think? It's not my 'quest' that we're talking about here."

Alein rolls his eyes. "All right, all of you. Let's get somewhere quiet and we can figure out a plan. Let's follow this guy. I can't illusion us all out of the public and people will start to notice..."

"You mean follow the cat, correct?"
