Also, @Elandera what is the order of actions for kills vs. actions? That is, if Araris tried to create PMs between two people other than themself, would that action have gone through? And do PMs stay open indefinitely? That was something I wasn't sure about from the phrasing in the rules, I think...

PM creation comes after the kills, but everything else comes before. And PMs are only open for one cycle, so any started at the beginning of this turn close when this turn closes.

I’m sorry; I’m still not quite sure, based on that explanation . Would someone killed in the night be able to open a PM, or would the action fail due to their death? I can’t help but think about this in TCG terms of resolution sequencing haha

If a Heklo is killed or deposed, none of the PMs they attempt to create will be opened.

Order of actions:

  1. Detritus Spy Research/Figment Spy
  2. Dione/Cambric Vote Manipulation
  3. Varvax Leader Protect
  4. Tenasi Pilot Kill/Elim Kill/Deposing
  5. Heklo PM Creation

Breaker. You were in an easy position to misexe Ventyl (see my first post.) And hopped on Archer who is currently my strongest village read.

Yes! Yes! Kill him now! Do it! DO IT! >:)

Unlimited Power!

(If I die, I achieved one of my personal wincons. Besides, playing aggressive is just fun. I hope no one takes issue with that.)

But I do intend to go after you if Archer exits my sights. I’m half voting Archer just to keep up on my threat from last time, and most of the rest is because I wanted to make a joke. I may have voted for you as a joke, too, but I find you suspicious.

I was not a confident supporter of exeing Ventyl, and did so because I oppose ties or tie risks. Most have me as a villager. The sort of person you might want to turn up dead, huh, since it’s harder to get traction on killing me? Someone who trained a bead on you most of last round? ;)

So, I’m just letting you know you’re top of my sus list.

If I wanted you dead because you are trusted village I'd just NK you and go for an exe that would be guaranteed to be supported.

Inactivity warning! @Ookla the Shadowed and @Somebody from Sel, if you do not post in the next 24-ish hours, you will be replaced or find yourself tossed into the nowhere.

Sorry, my phone broke and I was unable to get on. I've at least skimmed everything, but I have pretty much no reads.

That’s ok! How about joining the vengeance train and voting for Archer or Matrim, the targets of the deceased? Cui bono and all. Beating up people until someone cracks! Violence is Golden!

Vengeance train is never a good idea :P. Confirmed good doesn’t mean confirmed right (don’t quote me on that; not my saying) but flip flopping that, confirmed wrong doesn’t equal confirmed evil. (Besides, Archer wouldn’t even be a vengeance train.)

Okay, so here goes something. Let's see if we can figure out who decided to kill Araris.

  • Ookla the Shadowed, Quinn0928, Straw, Somebody from Sel, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, Archer, Snipexe, Liranil, Ghanderflaffle, StrikerEZ, Ashbringer, xinoehp512, Breaker, BrightEyes2.

For one thing, I doubt that Breaker or BrightEyes would lead a night kill as new players, and Ookla the Shadowed hasn't been on in quite a long time.

  • Quinn0928, Straw, Somebody from Sel, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, Archer, Snipexe, Liranil, Ghanderflaffle, StrikerEZ, Ashbringer, xinoehp512.

I also doubt Liranil would lead a night kill in their second game. However, Archer might, as he was an Elim alongside Araris in the QF... and reading the doc, I could see Archer being both a scary Elim and scared of Araris's potential, particularly after a vote on the first post.

I also doubt it was Straw, for opposite reasons. Straw's an old enough player to know the pain of fear-kills, so I doubt he would inflict that on Araris. It tends to be others who do that.

  • Quinn0928, Somebody from Sel, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, Archer, Snipexe, Ghanderflaffle, StrikerEZ, Ashbringer, xinoehp512.

Ghanderflaffle and Somebody from Sel were mostly inactive last cycle. So they probably weren't super active in the doc.

  • Quinn0928, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, Archer, Snipexe, StrikerEZ, Ashbringer, xinoehp512.

This is where I remove myself, because (surprise) I'm not an Elim.

  • Quinn0928, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, Archer, Snipexe, StrikerEZ, xinoehp512.

I believe there's at least one Elim in this group. I could probably narrow it down further on different lines, and it's... not as narrow as I was hoping, but I don't see an obvious group to cull here. Or rather, which group. You have the Returned (Snipexe, StrikerEZ, and xinoehp512), the New Talkatives (Quinn0928, Matrim's Dice, Dannex, and me), and then Archer as a wild card. Could be any, although I'm leaning away from the Returned.

I'll cast a vote tomorrow, most likely.

I’m willing to follow your reasoning and use this as our preliminary suspect pool. It happens to include most of the people who have already been voted for. At least it’s a plan.

I definitely think a lot of this reasoning is sound, although I'm not entirely sure that this was a fear kill. It could also be a more experienced player trying to make it look like a fear kill, or (especially if the elims are less experienced) a more random kill with not as much thought put behind it. I also disagree with your assessment of Breaker; based on their brazen play style so far, I would not be surprised at all if they proposed a kill first round if they were an elim. Additionally, Ghanderflaffle and Somebody could have been less active here because they were more active in the elim doc. So I'd probably have a larger list of suspects than you, but other than that, this mostly makes sense.

For right now, I'm voting Breaker. I'm kind of sus of Archer too, but I was suspicious of Breaker last round, especially because they are playing like Archer did in their first game (as Archer said). Plus, after Straw asked Archer for clarification about whether they were sussing Breaker or not, Breaker's response was kinda accusatory. If it starts to look like a broad tie again, I may switch. We'll see.

Because you’ve posted since, so I can’t check activity based on when you were last on. You were definitely greatly inactive, but permanently? I don’t know.

(And you didn’t put it in blue... although I’m not certain that that’s something that could be put in blue as a retroactive. So right now it’s your word.)

I can put this in blue:

My phone died on my trip to my Grandparents temporary home, I was unable to access any form of internet and only just got a new phone for Christmas.

That's the whole story.

I'll continue with your list, because how you took that down makes a lot of sense. Likewise, I know I'm not an elim, so out my name goes! (Though I'm inserting yours back in )

Gut village read on Quinn, same for Striker, maybe because of his hesitance on Ventyl. (iirc he said that he read Ventyl as just being normal, not elim)

I trust Archer.

There's a much more narrow list. I realize Ash's is much more useful, as he narrowed his down by fact (or some form of it) and I narrowed mine down by reads, sort of thinking out loud. I'll keep my vote where it is, though.

With regards to a brazen play style, there should be obvious reasons, like the fact that dying doesn’t prevent me from winning, and I’m not a high-value target, so attracting aggro is efficient. Mainly, however, it allows me to fulfill two meta goals. first, it allows me to learn and experiment more with the format. Second, it allows me to control my own reputation, for fun and/or profit. All for future games, and the decision of whether to continue. Also, I wanted to win a bet that I could die in the early rounds. I’d rather die at night than during the day, though, since a day kill is resource inefficient.

as for my comment about the fact that the list contained many of the votes-for suspects, that was intended as a downside, in that it was a convenient list that likely suffered from an elim hand. Hence why my next sentence was “at least it’s a plan.”

ultimately, however, I repeat that I do not object to being killed overly. I win either way, until next round starts. And I’d rather establish a pattern of only ever revealing my role when it’s absolutely true; a reputation for total honesty, and a means for believable information being believed, are useful tools. I am, unfortunately, a muggle, without any power but my words and a lone vote. I will also sus anyone who susses me right now, for aforementioned reasons, so you’re on my list until further notice.

Before you say 'but I was completely inactive' that was simply an effect from Ash grouping you with Ghander.

While I more agree with this - probably makes Breaker and SfS switch positions - just because Breaker suggests it doesn’t mean the others won’t check it first. The group I have are much more of... leaders, I guess. People will listen to them. And while Breaker has that potential, I can’t really make a judgement.

Plus, if it was Breaker’s idea, I’m not sure he’d fear Araris. It would be more random. I’ve been killed for less Elim reasoning, but I’m not trying to find all the Elims, just the one who decreed Araris’ death.

On mobile, will likely respond to Mat’s megapost later.

So, a list full of gut reactions, meaning no evidence. Just muddying the waters and whiting out a good resource. No accountability or explanation, really. I’ll vote for Matrim’s dice, my initial vote I held onto until the end of last cycle. sorry if I’m sounding mean; I’m still learning the proper etiquette and limits here; dramatic talk is fun. I truly apologize if I overstep.

That was the pre-narrowing-down list. One that included a bunch of people. You didn’t make the final. You’re fine!
