"It literally stopped just in time. Yay! We didn't get squished!" "Yeah. Wonderful. Doesn't change the fact that we're smushed against a wall." Val grunted and tugged, but to no avail. "Can you reach my spellbook? It's in my pocket."

Cara walked a little within the forest and jumped as she notice a shadow shift a little. Peering closer, Cara made out Ni clinging to a tree. "Ni, you gotta get outta here. There is a demon just over there that might try to kill you if he spots you."

Nearly jumping out of his boots in fright at the sudden voice beside him, Ni spun towards the sound that called his name. Trying to duck and turn to face the source of the noise though, Ni’s foot slipped out from under him. Falling away from the tree, Ni had nowhere to grab onto as he fell with a muffled grunt to the muddied earth. In a tarnished effort to achieve safety, Ni warily held out his hand in a gesture of warding as he scrambled away from the voice. Recognizing it was Cara though, Ni stopped. Making sure it actually was Cara, Ni shook his head and wiped the rainwater streaming across the eyeholes of his hood to see her more clearly. Dropping his arm back to his side, Ni tried to collect himself between trembling breaths. The pounding rain had masked Cara’s approach in both sight and sound, and Ni still felt disoriented and uneasy from the blast of lightning that had struck nearby. He could feel his hands and legs were still shaking from the combination of shock, cold, and danger he found himself in. Quickly sliding forward and using the nearby tree to pull himself from the mud, Ni flashed a shaking finger to his hood where his lips were before waving his hand forcefully downward in an effort to get Cara and her steed to stay low and out of sight. He knew how much damage one could do with just some magic. A dozen or so silvery elves approached them from the side, armed with maces, chains, and axes. Continuing to run was no longer a viable option. Minuet turned and faced the elves with a grim smile.

Quivil Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Quote Yvris was planning to attack Xeus once she reached the other group but that'll take a while and nobody's saying anything so time isn't passing.
Onimur he/him Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Rylan woke to a very sudden CRASH! He sat bolt upright on his bed, halfway through casting Light before he realized that he could see just fine. “What was that!?” Rylan shouted, looking about the room for signs of damage or intrusion.

Quote You are aware that what's attacking next to you is (for now) only one demon, right? The rock was thrown by Gal. Sorry about that. Oh, and Oswald might return to Val after he finishes with Rylan. Or maybe another ghost servant will come - maybe you can name the next one.

Val grunted and tugged, but to no avail. "Can you reach my spellbook? It's in my pocket." He arrived to Valzwyn. What is your wish, mistress? He howled. Quote I decided to make Oswald speech in italics, because he doesn't exactly speak; he's more of making howling sounds that can be interpreted as words, which is why he should usually use less words. All that is because... Well... I imagined the ghost servants to be more of living wind than actual ghosts. Sorry. But seriously, at least Oswald talks. The character he's based off - and named after - doesn't. (It's from Reaper Man, by Terry Pratchett, I believe.)

Knight of Iron she/they Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Quote Sorry, I typed all this out but the Shard kept eating it. Orpheus continued to fight, bashing his knife into the demon repeatedly, sending small shards and sparks flying. They began to drift back towards the demon, of course, but much slower than they had been previously. The demon shrunk to Orpheus's size, and the excess matter became a massive hammer. Alaxis smashed the hammer down and Orpheus was unable to avoid it. He panicked and released his control over his powers. Immediately as the hammer came into contact with him, to his surprise, his skin began to glow violently. He screamed in pain as it shattered around him, and yet lunged at the demon, plunging his arm into its chest, clawing at its heart... Alaxis grunted as the boy stabbed them, scattering their essence. Their presence in the physical realm began to falter, and they knew they wouldn't last much longer. They needed to win or lose, and quickly. They formed a hammer and swung at the boy, but the boy seemed to instinctively channel Zanidar's presence, and his essence shattered again. They had spent far too long in the physical, and exerted themselves far too much. Their essence moved toward them too slowly to be of much use anymore. They needed to escape back to the spiritual. No sooner than they had thought of this then the boy lunged at them, grabbing for their heart. A perfect opportunity to trick them into thinking they had defeated him. "Nᴏ... ɴᴏ!" they cried dramatically. They let loose a terrifying scream of agony, summoned their last remaining presence, and then bled away slowly and deliberately into the spiritual, where they would remain until they could manifest again. "Yᴏᴜ ᴄᴀɴ'ᴛ... sᴛᴏᴘ..." they whispered, and then retreated completely into the spiritual.
