  1. Rylan barely hesitated before he followed Valzwyn through the tunnels in the tower.
  2. “Woah, hello! That would be nice, thank you!” Rylan said as he followed Valzwyn.
  3. Rylan dashed towards where he thought the noise was coming from, but quickly became confused by the echo of sound in the tower, trying to find his way down to the ground floor, to no avail. “Does anyone know how to get back out of here?” Rylan called, hoping someone would hear him.
  4. Rylan nodded slowly, returning his sword. “I think I can find it,” he said, as he stepped out the door into the hall, looking for the source of the noise.
  5. Rylan felt the presence of the ghost before he heard it. “Well, perceptive, aren’t we. Now where is my... found it!” Rylan looked around the room to find his sword, hopping out of the bed to quickly don his belt, drawing his rapier with one hand, and putting on his hat with the other.
  6. Rylan woke to a very sudden CRASH! He sat bolt upright on his bed, halfway through casting Light before he realized that he could see just fine. “What was that!?” Rylan shouted, looking about the room for signs of damage or intrusion.
  7. So I’m just beginning a new D&D (5e) campaign as the DM.

The players are each making their characters, but don’t know each-other’s backstories just yet.

One player’s character (PC) was once an assassin, eliminating high-value political targets, but had a change of heart, and now is trying to run from his bloody past, which continues to haunt him.

Another PC is an aristocrat who loves to gamble at high-stakes games. His wife was murdered on the night of their wedding, by an unknown person. He has literally sold his soul to an arch-demon to find and kill his wife’s murderer.

    Guess who the murderer is.

    *Completely maniacal DM laughter*

This is DM gold. Let us know how it turns out.

  8. Rylan nodded with a smile and followed the direction of the sudden wind with only a slight pause, as if ghosts were a common occurrence around him. As he made his way down the hallway, he quietly mused to himself; “Dragons, magic, ghosts. What a day!”
  9. Rylan nodded to Valzwyn with a wide smile, and with a wink, tipped the brim of his hat.
  10. Rylan followed Sef into the tower.
  11. "As I said, nobody believes me." Rylan smirked, looking down to his feet. "Possibly I can prove to you my tale, however I will need rest before I can."
  12. Rylan felt the man’s discontent. He glanced up, then spoke to Sef. “When does the sun go down? I am exhausted.”
  13. Rylan smiled, his green eyes seeming to spark ablaze with mirth and madness. “The very first thing you should know about me, is that when I am around, rules tend to break, bend, and be broken.” He paused a moment, then continued “The second thing you should know about me, is that most people find it hard to believe anything I say or do. I’ve had five separate warlords offer hundreds of Tav for my head, because they didn’t believe me when I told them their gods were all false. I had already spoken to three separate deities on the matter, all of which agreed with me!” Rylan shook his head and laughed lightly, then muttered; “Hah! Vaandor.”
  14. Rylan watched the interaction between the three, then spoke again to Sef. "Is there something wrong?" @Tesh
  15. “No... they’re physical worlds. Each with their own planes of existence.”
  16. Rylan thought for a moment, then responded. "Well, you see, I'm not from this world. At least, I don't think I am. I tend to... unexpectedly... travel between different worlds. I don't completely understand it myself, but that's the best I can explain it."
  17. “No... I simply ask, for the slaying of a dragon is no small feat. If I wasn’t a stranger here, I would have the power to grant you a title...” Rylan trailed off.
  18. Rylan turned to face the other man, apparently called The Shadow. "Greetings and Salutations, I am Rylan Ryan, the Seventh. Are you the slayer of this mighty beast here?" Rylan gestured to the dragon beside him. @Tesh
  19. Rylan shrugged. "Is there a way I could talk to him, possibly you could translate?" @Tesh
  20. “Possibly, but I have no idea how it works.” Rylan looked up to the tower above him, and continued speaking, not looking to Sef. “Your group, does it have a name?” He paused for a moment, then motioned to the darkly dressed man near Sef. “What’s it with him?” @Tesh
  21. “Well, I was running from prison, awfully dirty I must say, and I was caught in a dark alley with one of the nastiest, meanest guards I had ever seen, and he was about to kill me, and then everything went black, and I woke up here. I call it being Kicked. I have no idea how it works, but it does.”
  22. “Oh, you see, I don’t really know. From what I can tell, it’s somewhere between the stars.”
  23. Rylan put his hands up defensively, and took a step back. ”No, of course not. You seem to be a man of great wisdom and intelligence, a speaker of tongues like myself. I have never heard a language like yours before.“ Rylan dropped his hands, and adjusted his hat before continuing. “You see, it’s been a long time since I last saw the stars. They remind me of someone I once knew...” His expression turned distant for just a moment, and a warm smile replaced it.
  24. Rylan turned back to Sef. ”Ahh, you see, I am not exactly from around here... When that big light in the sky goes beneath the horizon, are there little points of light in the sky?”
