I have not read any of the prerelease chapters. I have restrained myself, so I can experience the whole book all at once.

I'm going in virginal, as well.  The anticipation level is tempered by a growing sense of panic as I haven't even got a shipping notification yet. Course I'm only on ch. 78 of my OB reread so I should get back to reading.

You know, assuming you're planning to sleep tonight, you could spend this evening reading the Prologue and 19 subsequent chapters of Rhythm of War already released online by Tor. There would be no break in reading. Just sayin'.

I wonder why they chose a Tuesday for a release date. This really messes up my work/sleep schedule! Why not release it on a Friday?

That is a good point, but that hinges on Amazon delivering my book on time (It has been preordered for months, but you never know what might happen). It also depends on my ability to complete schoolwork quickly so that I have time to read.

Wait... IT IS!!!! IT IS BEING RELEASED ON THE 17TH!!! Maybe we will get a better understanding of the 17th Shard and their magic/purpose... Also, how many Cosmere books has Brandon released? Maybe that could have something to do with it...

I dunno. I went back to check and Oathbringer was released on November 14th, 2017. A Tuesday, again. And before that, Words of Radiance on March 4, 2014 - also a Tuesday.

It’s a retail thing. If it was released Monday it would have to get to stores Friday and take up space in storage over the weekend without generating revenue because they can’t sell it yet.

They don’t do it Friday because that’s movie release day (pandemic has changed that but even Netflix and still Disney+ drop new shows on Fridays)

Thats why most books, games and such have Tuesday release dates.

Why not Wednesday or Thursday? I dunno.

About fifteen hours to midnight for me...  I can't even focus on The Emperor's Soul, which I'm rereading.

You didn't throw it into the fire when you finished? Tsk tsk.

WAIT. It isn't released Tuesday at midnight? Do I have to wait until 8 pm Eastern Standard Time to have it released? That essentially means that I won't get to read it until WEDNESDAY!?!?!

I believe previous books were released at midnight... and the counter linked above corroborates that.

I'm positively stoked for the release. I preordered it and it'll arrive on release day. Although I'll be out of town release day and won't be able to read it until Thursday...

Oh man, I am SO EXCITED! I finished Oathbringer about three days after it was released and have been waiting for Rhythm of War for three years. I can’t believe it’s finally almost here! It’s going to take a lot of effort not to just read it all in one night.
