I live in Seattle. According to the rest of the world, everyone in Seattle is a hippie stoner dude bro. At least, that’s what it seems like half of the time.

I can generalize that Turkish men are fond of watching footbal match(of course there are exceptions) Most Turkish women complain about this and find it meaningless. But I can't say the same for weighlifting. Some like it, some don't.

somehow stumbled on this 3 years later and yes- im half turkish- this is so true in my family ahahaha im laughing so hard rn-

Idaho really is obsessed with potatoes. This is absolutely true

I don't see much of potatoes, but I guess. Since we're so famous for it. Also, it can get pretty darn cold.

Australians saying

“put the shrimp on the barbie”

No Aussie would ever say that

No. 1 we wouldn’t say “put” we’d say ‘chuck’ :]

No. 2 WE DONT SAY SHRIMP! WHAT IS A SHRIMP??! THEY’RE PRAWNS

also who barbecues prawns???!!??! Ewwwww

another one:

naur. Just no. I’ve never heard any real Australian pronounce it like that before except in jest. It may be a regional accent but I’ve never met anyone who sounds like a Mako mermaid. :P

ahem…

rant over.

edit:

This one is for my state. People say that everyone from Melbourne loves coffee. I definitely don’t. Never had it, except a sip once. It was gross. Never want to have it again.

Also technically I’m from California

Spoiler

*in French accent* immigrants. We get the job done

And I live in Australia right now. I can’t surf .-.

I’m like a disgrace to my cultures or something

Alright time for me to rant about Texan stereotypes!!

Yes, the summers are very warm. We’re talking 95-105°F every august.

No not everyone says “howdy” and wears a cowboy hat and boots. I can say that most people who grew up in Texas have done all of these things, and I have probably done them all simultaneously.

Also not everyone has a southern accent. My grandmother does, but I have no accent. Like I have a standard flat American accent. Newscaster accent. There are a few people around me who have southern accents but there are fewer than people think.

Any other Texan stereotypes y’all can think of?

(oh yeah a lot of people use y’all)

I know everyone is supposed to be like "oh i don't fit my stereotype at all" but I do actually worship McCormick spices as my deity and Old Bay as my lord and savior, so.

I do think the flag is ugly tho

HEre's a beautiful musical documentary about a convert to McCormickism:

A'ight people. Australian stereotypes.

We definitely do not all have that awful accent that people adore for some reason. There are some people with strong aussie accents, but they tend to go to the footy and stay away from us sane people.

Next, yes many of us love footy, but the bulk of us just wanna chill. I personally am not a fan of footy (I watch Supercars and F1 instead lol) and do not enjoy seeing people getting concussions and losing brain cells in general. Not pleasant.

Now: Bogans. I don't place myself in that category personally - a bogan is a person who walks around in thongs, always wears shorts, swears every breath, drinks beer, has barbeques for no reason, treats footy like a scudding religion and drives a ute everywhere. Most Aussies don't particularly fit the stereotype, including yours truly.

And finally: Swearing. I think... this is the one idea that kind of fits most Australians. You'll walk out and a bloke with shuffle behind you and swear, or a group of guys will swear every sentence, or a few girls will swear spontaneously. It honestly depends on the person - and I'm certain it is the same in other places in the world. Personally, I don't swear. I use Sanderson cusses instead :P And even when I don't use those, I use other expletives like "Goodness!" "Wow!" or "heck!" I'm PG rated, peoples.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk! K bai

no one laughed at my hilarious use of the bdg jingle *sad noise*

It's ok. i'm ok. does anyone here like bdg?

Anyway, stereotypes (fr this time): I do fit into a lot of east coast stereotypes, actually. I am usually stressed and have an unfortunate tendency to assume myself more in-the-know on US political stuff than people who don't live close to the capital (working on it ;-;). If i don't like someone i can definitely come across as unfriendly (also working on that ;-;). I dress in a very east coast way, usually (kind of busniess-y but in a teenage way because i am a teenager lol. like for example right now i am wearing straight leg khaki pants and a green and white striped button up. also a bunch of rainbow bracelets for good measure). However, i don't think i'm uptight and rude like some of the stereotypes dictate- though i do know some east coasters who are that way lol (though i think that's just a them thing, not an east coast thing). Now, i'm not a huge Maryland person because i haven't lived here as long as my previous place of residence (dc), but i do enjoy some good old bay on my microwaved corn now and then. I can't actually remember the last time we ate crab. as for the flag obsession some Marylanders have... i honestly don't like it that much ngl. but i hate most state flags, so that's basically a compliment. the only ones i genuinely like are Colorado, New Mexico, and Alaska.

My state’s stereotype: 100% of our population is Mormon.

Which is kind of funny because it’s more like 50% :P

I myself am not Mormon, and nowadays it’s weird to find independent adults who still belong to the church.

Silly silly place, Utah is.

Oh also that thing about us having the best snow on earth for skiing?

100% true no arguments. :D

I just wanted to know if you know.I actually thought oil wrestling was a purely Turkish sport, but I just found out that tournaments are also held in Greece. It's funny because I can swear I saw Greek comments on the oil wrestling video I watched before I quitted watching YouTube, making fun of the homophilic nature of wrestling
