Her eye color swirled, fighting between sapphire and black. One could see two entities fighting for control in the reflection of her eyes: One that was ready to accept defeat and death, while the other trying to save her and trying to shake her out of the mindset she was falling into. They fought hard, trying to achieve their desires in any way possible. One argued hard about why she needed to live, but she wasn't having it. She had lost. It didn't matter if he could heal her; it felt like it was time. She didn't look like she was exactly seeing, but only staring. "It's over," she said in her normal voice, her breathing ragged. Her eyes managed to turn into her normal color as she said that. Black enveloped. "Don't say that," her distorted voice said, concerned and panicked. "People are here––" "You... don't get it." Sapphire returned. She coughed up blood, her gaze fading. "I don't... need help. I want... the pain to... stop." "I know it hurts, but you have to stay awake. Let. Me. Help." "No. You know... of all people that... my mind is a... dark place. If I live... any longer..." She started to grow limp, her eyes fluttering to stay awake. "I... I just want... to be numb. I don't... want to feel anything... anymore. I want... to be... free..." "I'll save you. You're not done." Her breathing became more and more labored by the second, showing restraint to letting the power help her. The pain was becoming unbearable, paining her to even breathe. It hurt her to even think, which amazed her. It had been so long since she felt that kind of pain, but it was almost a new type of pain. It begged for her to just give up now. She lived for this long, might as well–– Q finally noticed that someone was holding her. Ellis. She managed to smile, if only it was pained. "I'm... sorry," she rasped, "for thinking I... could be free... For thinking... that you would... be fine... For believing that... I was... not a killer... I'm sorry... for loving you..." Q hacked up blood, her body shivering violently, gasping for breath. Yet, she had the strength to raise an arm to touch the back of his head, positioning him to have their foreheads touch. She looked into his eyes, the two entities still fighting for control, continuing to smile. She pulled closer to give him a soft kiss on his lips, lingering for a few seconds too long before she grew limp, her eyes fading to black. "Thank you," she whispered, pulling away. "I'll... be back... I promise... Mors will... find... a..." Black took over, leaving her limp, tiny smoke trails exuding from the corners of her eyes.

He held his sword in one hand, and Melody's arm in his other. An impassive stare came over his face, hiding broken sorrow and burning anger. Eyes still on Dr. Who Octopus, he whispered a silent plea to Q's silent form. If we don't save you, Q... then I want you to know that I'll never regret any of this. "If we don't save you, Q... then I want you to know that I'll never regret any of this." Another tear came out. "I'll never regret loving you." Little do you know, she's not dead yet *cough* I mean, beautiful writing, man.

The blast struck the ground behind Ellis, launching debris into the air. Dr. Who Octopus calmly continued to swing, sending blast after blast of warped space in Ellis's direction.

Either Ellis didn't hear Melody or he simply didn't care, because he weaved around all the bursts of warped space and launched his first attack against the octopus, feinting at one of his tentacles before stabbing at his face.
