Siren's Call: an RP

[Channelknight Fadran]

Cumulo, being the demon he was, got impatient after about three seconds and hurled another lightning bolt at the island. The people on the beaches were already screaming and running; he had been instructed not to harm them.

Cruz, who turned out to be in the neighborhood, rushed over, sending a spray of sand up on the beach.

"Ah, stars," he cursed. "Not this again."

Vespyr was suddenly there, and the lightning bolt was suddenly absent. The sand wasn’t even blackened beneath his feet. Vespyr began to glow with a sharp intensity, tiny shards of static darting from between his ear and skull, nostrils, fingers, toes. “Thank you, brother, for the meal,” he said, an predatory smile crawling over the man’s face.

"So you are here! Long time no see, Vespyr." Cumulo grinned.

Cruz gasped as the lightning bolt disappeared, and he noticed Vespyr. Whatever was going on, perhaps it was best if he stayed out of it...

Cruz spotted a small group of people gathered together on the ground, behind where Vespyr came from. He stealthily made his way over there, taking cover.

"Uh, hello? It's me!"

Vespyr bared his teeth.  "Do you mean of the old rules?  Do you remember the bloody battles to the death of our training, of the mettle of broken bones, grown stronger and stronger with each fracture?  Or do you wish to dance light and lithe, ignoring the screams of your friends and yourself, as you've always done?"

"Well, my instructions are to kill you, so..." Cumulo brought out his swords, "whichever works best for you, I guess."

"Uh..." said Cruz, looking at the young girl. Stars, what was her name? "Uh, Jan! Janelle? No, wait, Janet! It's me!"

"You must have fallen out of favor for the Queen to choose to execute you on my blade," Vespyr whispered, his voice carrying unnaturally.  "Are you sure you are prepared for death?"

A slyvan male with golden hair, eyes, khakis, and no shirt walks into the street. His torso has feathers all over it, and he has feathers down his arms and legs as well. Due to his lack of shoes, you can see his talons, and his arms are a mixture of wings and arms-they're aerodynamic, but he has hands, although they end in talons and there are are only three fingers and a thumb. His face is mostly human besides the feathers that replace hair. On his hands, he has two golden gloves cut to match his hands and leave the talons exposed. They have golden embroidery on each side. On one, there is an eagle and the symbol of Travailism, while there's a flag on the other. As he walks, the sun seems to shine perfectly on him, making him look like he has a sort of glow around him. He stops when he sees Cruz. "Wait-what are you doing here?" He slowly reaches towards his pocket.

Vespyr nodded, then stooped, lightly touching the sand.  It rippled beneath his fingers, then rolled, a mound of earth, rushing and arcing towards his opponent.

A thousand tendrils of lightning arced back at him, firing from every angle as Cumulo leapt into the sky.

Every single bolt met its mark, striking Vespyr.  And every single one was absorbed.  Vespyr stood like a star, staring up at Cumulo.  "Don't," he said, almost pleading.

Stars. Had he been recognized? He even had grown a beard. Why was it so hard for a man to run from his mass murdering past? Society was messed up.

“You didn’t see anything,” he hissed.

Yep, he was recognized. No doubt about it. Before he could finish his sentence, Cruz dashed forward and leaped into the air, twisting his legs around the guy's neck, the force of the impact sending them both tumbling to the ground in the alleyway. He clamped a hand over his mouth. "Shut it," he growled.

Cruz's assassin instincts kicked in, and he flipped out his knife and used it to push aside the strange rod, then stabbed at the man's shoulder.
