Cruz rolled out of the way and, having freed his other hand, pulled out his handgun and pointed it at the man.

"We both better run for our lives, the adults are fighting just out there," he said, nodding towards where they had come from. "Scary stuff."

Posted

The man gave a devilish smile, and then, using his wings, leaped forward up and slightly up with inhuman speed and punched the handgun away and at the same time, held a knife to Cruz's throat. "I know that, Assassin." he spat. "But you and I have some unfinished business." He brought his knee up into Cruz's already-sore stomach, and then used his other hand to punch Cruz in the face.

Posted

Cruz sprung backward, his head flying back away from the knife and avoiding the punch. He rolled back a few feet away, then with a similar inhuman speed lunged directly towards the man, aiming for the very bottom of his torso.

Just as the man lifted off, Cruz changed trajectory and sprung off the ground straight upwards, his knife plunging into the man's upper chest. Cruz grabbed him by the back of the head as they hung in the air to hold on, and he was at a disadvantage, since he couldn't fly. But it was worth it to score the hit.

Lol we're just friendly chatting in one RP and then immediately switching back to trying to murder each other in the other.

Yup.

The man screamed in rage and then stabbed three knives into Cruz in quick succession, and then clocked him over the head with his staff, letting out a sick crack! He then flew up higher, ignoring the pain and then dropped Cruz from about ten feet. He dropped to the ground, holding his chest in pain, trying not to fall unconscious.

"Done playing yet?" Cruz asked, spitting out blood, pain wracking his body. "The poison'll kick in soon."

As he spake, he used his Aspect to heal himself, but he hid it from this enemy.

Vageuly. Somewhat. No.

Though I'm pretty sure that Aspects are limited to one Qhoral Element. I was under the impression that Vespyr could absorb vibrations, like with Intellect or Seismic. There are lot of forms of energy that have their own Qhoral Element.

It's possible, though, that Vespyr has more than one Aspect. That would mean that he has more than one soul (potentially artificial). Of course, I'm not one to retcon your own character after they've existed for over a hundred pages. It just bothers me that Vespyr's so insanely overpowered and seemingly unflawed.

Vibration and Kinetic energy are essentially the same thing.  When Vespyr first showed up, he was definitely not in a state to take on this guy 1x1.  He's on a minimal amount of nectar now to simply keep the long term effects of withdrawal at bay.

I thought you remembered his absorbtion ability, but then he got shot with thousands of lightning bolts.  Which says more to the OP-ness of his opponent.  If you like, we can retcon some of the attacks under the assumption that someone who underwent training alongside Vespyr would be wise enough to avoid supercharging him.  Say, we keep that first bolt of lightning because Vespyr showed up, but maybe retcon the barrage that followed.  That will put Vespyr acting as a safety blanket while the others move in to help take this guy out.

As to the "Wow... this is really OP and dreadful..." yeah.  I definitely agree to an extent.  Vespyr's ultimate goal in this RP is (if you prefer to keep things vague, do not open the spoiler..!)

Spoiler

to die absorbing too much of one of the Queen's attacks, vaporizing his body from too much energy.  This would serve to block a one-hit-total-party-kill on the rest of the crew, weaken the Queen, and allow an effective counterattack.  We have a really impossible-to-kill big bad evil guy, and Vespyr can be used strategically endgame.

On top of this, we have had characters that can literally rip someone's soul and stick it in themselves, stealing their ability.  This has been justified through a promise that it's not gonna be used on player characters, so it works.  Vespyr isn't currently using this on player characters, and the times that he did, he was acting as an antagonist, and people seemed to really enjoy that roleplay.

I'm honestly open to working through this with you; I don't want to stomp over your comfort or railroad this RP to simply be Vespyr taking on this opponent alone.  How would you like to proceed?

Knight, I would like to point out that Cruz was knocked unconscious with a metal staff, stabbed three times, and dropped from ten feet in the air.

The Slyvan grinned. Then, he bended the light from the sun into Cruz's eyes, blinding him. "That'll take effect immediately."

That's called godmodding and is not appreciated. Cruz is conscious. He's survived worse.

The light's good. Sorry, I was just a bit taken aback at how in the course of a single post, Cruz got one stab while your character stabbed three times + another action + another action. But you're fine.

Cruz shut his eyes immediately and raised a hand to shield himself from the light. He fired off several blasts in his direction, blindly. "No hard feelings?" he called. "I'd hate to waste good fighting potential."

Aight. I'll remember that.

"Fine. But why did you attack me? I thought that you were my cousin's friend! He was supposed to arrive next week, not today. I was surprised!" He said this as he jumped out of the way. "Here, sorry for the misunderstanding." He concentrated for a couple of moments, and then forced the blinding light away from Cruz.

"...oh. Here, let me heal that poison out of your system. It takes a couple minutes to set in but kills pretty quickly." Cruz reached his hand forward tentatively, seeing if he would take it.

I've done some RP in the past and created multiple groups on another site.  If it's helpful, I have a standard guide for fun combat.  In essential, give your opponent the chance to accept/deny a blow.  Usually, have characters 'attempt' an attack, and then let the other person choose whether or not their character gets hit by that attack.  Saying that all your hits land and that your opponent should be dead usually sucks the fun out of a fight.  Most people will take blows to further the drama and intensity of a scene, and then you two can agree on an outcome together to advance the plot.  I've seen many pairs get upset because someone writes that they hit every single time or because the other person writes that they always dodge an attempted strike.  It turns a battle into a competition for who can one-hit-KO the other faster, and not a fun encounter.

Ack, sorry, I was gone. No, you're fine. I've dealt with OP characters before; maybe school just got to me. If we're going with "Cumulo and Vespyr know each other" then yeah, I'll retcon my last post.

Apologies for getting worked up about it.

The sand blasted to the side as Cumulo dashed through, supercharged with lightning to go at ungodly levels of speed.

Yes, I stole Killua's godspeed ability. Don't @ me.

Vespyr watched Cumulo's speed.  The flash of his form through the sand created a crystaline network of glass, which quickly rolled and shattered to dust at his passing.  Vespyr lowered his head.  He couldn't see Cumulo, but he could feel him.  He was a ripple of motion, throwing up air and wind.  Vespyr could absorb it, but it was nothing compared to the force that Cumulo could summon.  Vespyr could match that speed, but not for as long.  He'd need to go defensive.  Reactive.  Use the lightning he'd absorbed to fuel his attacks at just the right instants.

As children, he'd seldom won against Cumulo.  He needed to build up energy over time, whereas Cumulo could draw upon it practically instantly.  Now, though... Who could say what the outcome would be?  And Vespyr wasn't fighting alone.

I'm acting off the assumption that they were all trained to become Qhoral corrupted by the Queen through her intensive methods that left many dead, including Rain, Vespyr's friend that he sees a lot of Janice in.

Thanks for the tip!

The man nodded. "Sorry if I hurt you. Do you have a healing aspect? If so, I have some nectar you could use. My knives can be nasty some times." He paused. "Oh. My name's Finn. Finn Faladore."

"I do," he noted. "Nice to meet you, Finn."

Finn handed Knight a bottle of nectar. "Here. Where were you going?"

"I was trying to talk to my friends over there, seeing as they're in trouble," he said, pointing to where they had come from. "But I thought you recognized me... as someone else."
