Cruz laughed. “Trust me, we’re both not. Luckily we have one on our side. Now, while we’re still out of the way...” he glanced behind him. “Where’d you learn to fight like that?”

"All around. Tough world." He nodded at Cruz. "You look like you know that. Chances are, we've seen each other before." He paused for a moment. "So, what should we do?"

“Unless you’re from the isles of Raodea, I’d think not. Some  assassin just murdered a good chunk of their government recently, so I’ve been here waiting for it all to blow over.”

He neglected to mention that he was the one who assassinated them, but he figured that didn’t matter right now.

"Um...I am. And I was a soldier for a fort-town there. That's where I learned the majority of my skills."

Cruz chuckled. "Hope you weren't a fan of the local government."

"Not at all. They didn't do anything for us towns. For the leaders of a recovering country, they were remarkably untalented. We had to get by and protect each others without any help." He sighed. "I hope that they're doing okay. But that's not why I'm here. Like I asked, what should we do?"

"I mean, we could try to help. Here, I'll show you my... acquaintances. I don't really know them much more than I know you, but we can trust them."

Cruz made his way back down the alleyway to where the literal gods were fighting. He, once again, tried to catch Trace's friends' attention.

"Janet," he hissed. "Janet's friends. It's me! Is Trace here?"

Finn shrugged and ran behind Cruz. Ain't many types that can stalemate one trained like him, nearly kill them, and then survive their parting death blow. And then heal you after that. One you meet one of them, sometimes it's better to play along. Cautiously, of course. And the fact that gods were fighting helped.

Vespyr and Cumulo are currently fighting on the beach, and everyone else is at the Academy.

But...

Ah. I didn't see they were two separate locations, since Cumulo was first heard at the Academy and Vespyr basically just teleported there or whatever.

Now I seem to have made a fool of myself. Wish I'd known that four pages ago

Vespyr watched Cumulo's speed.  The flash of his form through the sand created a crystaline network of glass, which quickly rolled and shattered to dust at his passing.  Vespyr lowered his head.  He couldn't see Cumulo, but he could feel him.  He was a ripple of motion, throwing up air and wind.  Vespyr could absorb it, but it was nothing compared to the force that Cumulo could summon.  Vespyr could match that speed, but not for as long.  He'd need to go defensive.  Reactive.  Use the lightning he'd absorbed to fuel his attacks at just the right instants.

As children, he'd seldom won against Cumulo.  He needed to build up energy over time, whereas Cumulo could draw upon it practically instantly.  Now, though... Who could say what the outcome would be?  And Vespyr wasn't fighting alone.

While this was going on, Corwin glanced at his companions. “We can watch and still be safe.  C’mon!”

Alright. We're retconning Cruz yelling at nobody. And I'm changing this:
"I mean, we could try to help. Here, I'll show you my... acquaintances. I don't really know them much more than I know you, but we can trust them."
To this:
"I mean, we could try to help. I kind of know one of the gods, though he did nearly kill me once. He can stop your heart with a glance. But I'm sure we can trust him."

"There he is," said Cruz, pointing. "The Siren."

They were within shouting distance of the battle.

Cruz took cover behind a building and assembled his rifle. It was makeshift, designed to come apart easily and yet to be stored and hidden on the body easily. Twenty seconds later he managed to assemble the entire thing, then he breathed in and harnessed his inner energy, as he was taught. He barely leaned out from behind his cover, trained his aim on the lightning demon, and fired three sniper blasts.

@Channelknight Fadran

"That's how it's done," Cruz whispered, taking cover again, the barrel of his rifle already warm from the blasts.

Finn nodded, impressed. "My turn." He pulled out another rod-looking thing with three parts, and then formed it into a bow. Although it was portable, the care, effort, and quality put into it. He quickly nocked an arrow with three in his draw hand, and he fired them off in quick succession with the skill of someone who's been doing this for a very, very long time. The arrowheads glowed strangely.

The aforementioned lightning demon is currently moving at a fraction of the speed of light. How exactly do you intend to hit it?

Uh... I'm a bit confused. If they're going near the speed of light they'd be halfway across the world in a very short amount of time. If demon is not stopping and is constantly moving then I assume it's moving in circles? In which case Cruz would just fire in it's path. Unless the demon is zig zagging all around the place constantly, in which case Cruz does not shoot and we retcon that.

If they're not going that fast constantly, and by "fraction of the speed of the light" you meant very very very slowly, then Cruz still tries to shoot at him.

Just trying to speed things along in the RP... trying to do something.
