Cruz was shocked at Trace, but before he could think to do anything, he noticed a truck driving across the shore at high speeds, and Cruz stepped out a bit in its direction to get a better look. Was that...? Ten figures in robed garb stepped out of the truck and onto the shore, facing Cruz. No sign of modern weapons, but that didn't mean they didn't have them. What it did mean, was that these were Dusters with dangerous Aspects. The garb indicated they were likely trained in Sugando as well. And, finally, Lena steps out of the passenger door. "I'll take Cruz," she said, "The rest of you, we need to kill Trace." Quote Vespyr will probably have heard that. Feel free to NPC up these Dusters, if you like.

"I'll take Cruz," she said, "The rest of you, we need to kill Trace." Vespyr looked across the field, at Trace and her band of frienemies, then at the oncoming figures. Ten of them. That was nothing. But it couldn't afford to treat them lightly. Speaking with its cracked, low voice for the first time, Vespyr said, "I apologize for the inconvenience," out loud to Trace and those she was fighting. It was, after all, a rather inconvenient moment for everyone who happened to be standing on the shore. The air SCREAMED. It was a pure, high, tone, keening and vibrant, vibrating and sinuous. It exploded in the air, and Vespyr lifted into the air a mere six inches, just enough so no part of the creature touched the sand. The sand began to shift. It moved, bouncing up from the shore, shifting, swallowing, as every soul on its surface found themselves sinking alarmingly fast into the sand. The moonlight glinted across the shore, and patterns shot up on the surface of the seaside, shifting in a myriad of shapes, a world of patterns, many of which were tragically going unappreciated by the shouting, shocked, and altogether surprised henchmen who had moments ago considered themselves safe. Vespyr didn't even raise a hand. It floated, drifting towards the the men, now thigh-deep in the shifting sand. "I apologize," it said, and finally moved, lifting a hand. A wave from the ocean split, and a shaft of water shot from the ocean, gliding into Vespyr's outstretched palm, rippling water made living blade in the monster's palm. "Your orders contradict my own." The moon shone through the watery glaive as it sliced down and through the necks of two men, then across the middle of another, cutting him in two. The water-weapon turned pink as the blood tinted the core of the weapon. Vespyr turned toward Lena, who in her own way, would be dealing with the shifting sand. "I told you not to interfere. You. Fool." Vespyr sounded almost... angry. 1

Lena, however, brought her hands down by her sides and the air roared with the sound of flame propulsion, and Lena streaked off into the sky and landed on solid ground a little further away. The air surrounding Vespyr turns to flame and an intense heat overwhelms them. Lena pulls out a flaming sword, glowing with a soft light. "Burn, demon." Quote What's the lighting like? Quote Nighttime, about 1 1/2 hours pre-dawn Vespyr extended a hand and absorbed the momentum of the bullets. They slowed, then tapped against the robes, then fell to the sand, buried. Vespyr tilted its head up, then looked at Lena curiously. Fire. That was what she thought would defeat this creature? That was... cute. No, that wasn't the correct word. It was... infantile. The men continued to sink. Their car lurched, rolled onto its side, then vanished suddenly. Two men shrieked as a sudden change in the pattern buried them completely in the sand. Vespyr turned to look at Trace and her friends, then willed the air around them to be still, the sand there stopping. It wouldn't do to accidentally murder its charge. Fire. Fire was vibrating electrons trying to get to the lowest state of energy. It was elementary. Vespyr absorbed it as well. "That's... that's not how demons work," Vespyr informed, a little annoyed. "Flame inspires no fear for demons." The air slammed down onto Lena, like a tornado of bricks, slamming her to the ground. 1
