Spockledorf he/him Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Quote Sooo... I'm in a room with some old computers (as Spark), my plan: Hack computers, get some data, and then fail a hack in my attempt to get more. This will trigger an alarm that (1) causes a distraction for others, and (2) puts me on a path towards running into one of the other groups. My introduction will be me (disguised as a guard) almost getting shot by one of the good guys. I'll leave the room with a flash drive, but not have enough time to view any information. I'm still writing this part

Harmony takes Vanessa's hand and steps timidly into the hallway. She looks about 14, wears a light blue slip with no shoes, and has black hair reaching to her waist, but it hasn't been brushed for a while. Her face is blemish free and very fair, with soft pink lips, a small rounded nose, and dark brown, almost black, eyes; and her expression suggests innocence. On 8/26/2020 at 9:25 PM, Scarletfox said: Azeriana [uh-z-air-ee-aw-n-uh] walked through the field, approaching a group of figures. She wore a NASA t-shirt with the sleeves ripped off of them, leaving jagged un-hemmed material sticking out. The lack of sleeves revealed good sized biceps and a large, jagged scar on her left elbow that wasn't noticeable unless you looked straight at it. The front of the shirt was tucked into her high-waisted skinny blue jeans. Her orange hair was pulled straight back into a tight pony tali, but there were so many frizzies it was ridiculous. How was she supposed to look intimidating if she couldn't even keep her hair under control? She wore black leather boots that laced up to about half a foot below her knee. There was an AK-47 slung over her back, the black strap putting a bit of pressure on the shirt. This was why Azeriana wore a women's chest guard under her shirt. It was meant for sparring in martial arts, so didn't provide much protection from things like bullets and knives, but was great for keeping the pressure of the strap from being painful, and for hand to hand combat. Of course she had two long daggers strapped to her boots, but she wasn't as skilled with those. Her callused right hand held a pistol, just in case of an ambush. As she approached the group, she thought back to that strange interaction at The Dead Duckling. She had been enjoying the bar just fine for a few days, but the bar-tender's patience was getting thin, like normal, so she knew she was going to have to move pretty soon. A random lady in a dark cloak walked up to her, and handed her a slip of paper. The paper told Azeriana to be in this field at this exact time, because "help was needed". By the time Azeriana looked up from the note, the lady was gone. At the time, Azeriana had assumed it to be some disgruntled loser wanting a re-match with his friends to help where there were no witnesses. Some people would have simply walked away when they suspected something like this, but never Azeria. She never backed down from a fight. Every step Azeriana took sent pain screaming through her ankles, but she was ok with that. She had gotten used to it, just as one gets used to a computer background. Ever present, but normal. Azeriana flipped the safety of her gun off as she revealed herself to the group. "I am called Azeria. I was told to come because help was needed?" She was sure the first thing they were going to tell her was to put down her weapons. She was fine with that. It made them more humble when she beat the living heck out of them. That was, of course, if this was a sore-loser of a fighter who wanted his money back. @DramaQueen And I would summon everyone else, but I don't know the usernames of those others in the field On 8/27/2020 at 9:04 AM, Channelknight Fadran said: The lights turn off, and a voice starts talking through the radio. Xoath steps out from behind a curtain, and the radio plays a prerecorded cheers and applause track. "Hello, hello, everyone! It is I, Xoath, the Amazing!" He grins at his audience, subconsciously wondering if his bowtie was off-center. He wore a tuxedo with matching trousers, a white shirt underneath that sported his bowtie. He spins his shiny top hat seamlessly across his head, and then, suddenly, a cane slips into his hand, which he leans on. "You know, I was a little doubtful when they told me I'd be joining a group of..." he frowns, "...who are you guys?" A little paranoid, he flicks his wrist, and a pistol appears in his hand. @Vapor @Condensation On 8/27/2020 at 11:54 AM, Hentient said: Reveal hidden contents Oh, you still want me here? I wasn’t sure you did. Quick question, what’s the timeline of this? Like is this an au of the reckoners where epics aren’t known yet, but also aren’t bad? Or is this post- calamity defeat? Hentient stands on the field. She looks down at herself, uncertain. She’s wearing loose jeans and a black sweatshirt, a messenger bag swung across her shoulder. Inside, lays her plans. Plans for everything, plans for anything. A pistol hides under her sweatshirt, ready to be used. Hentient opens her messenger bag, searching through her messy papers, and pulls out an index card. It’s titled For meeting new people: She quickly scans the words and stands up, adjusting her glasses. Hentient walks over to the other people on the field. “He- hello, My names Hentient.” She smiles, somewhat awkwardly. Should I wave? Hug them? The card says shake hands but that feels dumb. Oh, I got it! She raises her hands, but then realizes she about to do finger guns and freezes. Her awkward smile gets even more awkward, if that’s possible, and she lowers her hands. I’m a disaster. The lights are off, but that's no problem as he pulls out a pen light. As he illuminates the room, he finds that the room is empty--except for some unpowered servers, a couple unlit screens, and two more doors. Well, I guess I'll just look at the computers until I find something--anything that could be a clue... He moves over to the other side if the room and powers a server on... Spockledorf he/him Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) Spark pulled out his flash drive and interface as the server booted up. Now all I have to do is NOT trigger the system security. Do that, and I'm in. "...1) Insert the 2 USB-A wires into the device's USB-A inputs closest to the motherboard..." Spark murmured to himself, glad he memorized the instructions. "So that should be these...," connecting the interface with 2 little clicks. (More fiddling with the BIOS and RAID configurations...) Quote (I have no idea what I'm doing... :D) "Alright, so now I wait for the machine to do its thing..." The interface clicked and whirred as different LEDs gradually lit up. "No detection yet..." Spark whispered uneasily to no one. After what felt like an eternity, there was a sound like an old toaster finishing its cycle as a row of green LEDs blinked twice and lit up. Bingo! "As smooth as butter..." Spark said as he pushed the flash drive into the server's port, which was the one he wasn't supposed to connect to. The server beeped happily, as if taunting him as the simple error message popped up. "Welp, I'm toast" Spark muttered as he began to realize what was happening. That's when the alarm started blaring. ... They really need to make that quieter... Spark thought as he ran through the complex, a drive in his pocket (with very little data for all the trouble he went through to get it). Fortunately, the drive was programed to immediately start copying files--and got a decent chunk of data. Unfortunately, Spark had no way of knowing what was on it until he got back to a computer or mobile, and some of it was likely corrupted because he had to leave in a hurry. He kept running, finding a door and going out--following his gut. None of the guards noticed the one guard that lagged behind the other party of guards patrolling. And they didn't notice when he slipped away, running away from the field and into cover... Quote *long exhale* Edited August 28, 2020 by Spock

She quietly slid a dagger out of the secret sheath hidden in her corset, then snuck up behind the guard. "Look in my right trouser pocket, there is a drive there that has data from the servers at the compound (complex?). I barely got out when the alarms were going off..." Spark rambled quickly, trailing off at the end--waiting for her reply.
