Fadran prepares himself, closing his eyes and letting his mind slip from anything material. When the heat came, his body felt it, but not his mind.

"Trap it." I throw a stronger sphere. "Retreat into your mind." I take a step forward. "Create a prison for the pain. " I stand in front of him. "Press your advantage." I draw back my right hand and strike out at Fadran.

At the second sphere, Fadran draws upon... something. Icona's power? Queen's enhancement? Something external. Something external, and something empty. He creates a pathway for the sphere of heat--a practice he knew all too well--into this empty space, which the heat floods into. When Nath draws back his hand, Fadran releases the heat, sending it back at the deity.

I grin. A chuckle escapes my lips. With a thought I banish the heat. I lower my hand. "Very good. Creative and somewhat advanced for so early a stage. You can open your eyes. In time you'll learn to do such things and more on instinct alone. We'll not push you too hard too fast, but you have the fundementals of lesson number 1."

"Thanks, Nath." Fadran replies, smiling himself.

Nope! At least, not that I recall. You missed your opportunity to insert a pickup line.

I was kind of gone when you posted that, so Queen couldn't have. I considered saying that if that had happened, I'd hunt down the girl and beat her up for you.

Queen had been trailing behind the rest of the group, pondering on how Fadran managed to stay so charismatic and uplifting without Icona. She knew that if Tchanta gave up her life, Queen would retreat into herself, the way she had when Journey died all those years ago. Yet, Fadran was still able to help others, and happily, the way he had helped the newcomer, the one who called herself The Fox, by fixing her hoodie.

"So how've you been holding up?" Fadran asks Queen.

At this point I think Fadran's real superpower is to bend time and space to have multiple conversations at the same time

We're on an Adventure Montage. I can have as many conversations as I want.

I watch him speak to Queen and I can't help, but be impressed. This one is a leader even if he does not see it. He is worthy whether he knows it yet or not. I turn toward Fox. "Never give up that healthy caution of yours. In most cases it will serve you well. I did not trust any of these beings when I first met them. Don't take us on our word. Let us show you that we can be trusted. After having lived as long as I have I can tell you that words mean little. They can be spoken one moment and retracted the next. In time you will see as I have that they mean well. Their ways are strange, but they care." I see her fidgeting. "If you get the urge to use the knives on anyone use them on me. I'll shrug it off."

The Fox raised an eyebrow. Someone telling her not to trust them... yet? That was a new one.

These people seemed... different. Better, somehow, than those she had known lately. The Fox respected this man, even if she didn't know if she trusted him or not. He seemed to care for this group very much. She nodded, and said with sincerity, "Thank you, for the advice."

She paused, and then, adding an exaggerated solemn edge to her voice,  she said, "I will be sure to use my knives on you on a regular basis." Her lips turned slightly upward as she anticipated the look on his face.

Balhaan begins to speak in a bland voice as Aridith commands him to cast spells of shattering, destroying each Aon in repeated waves of destruction.

Fast, thought Aridith, but not fast enough.

As the two powers clashed, he had Baalhan begin preparing a bigger spell for an overwhelming attack. The best defense was a good offense, after all.

Truth gritted his teeth.

Not actually, since he no longer had a Physical body, but the act of controlling the Dor took effort, and that is what it felt like. He could still feel the power resisting him, it was Invested on Sel and it wanted to stay there. Visualizing the symbols of Connection, they managed to tug on the power, pulling more of it into this world. Like a stretched rubber band, the power wanted to snap back to Sel, but their efforts and the block of the mimes kept it trapped. Still, the power threatened to rip apart from him, destroying them in the process.

Glimmer focused on their friends. A couple of mimes were fighting in the spaceship, but the Connections showed a high probability of escape for their friends. Glimmer focused on the power, drawing it in. The timing had to be just right. Focusing on the Dor, Truth allowed the rubber band to snap back just as his friends pierced the barrier. The Dor flowed back, exultant to be free, letting Truth and Glimmer ride it to Sel.

In an instant, the onslaught vanished, along with the power supporting it. Aridith allowed himself a small smile of satisfaction.

A moment later, the smile vanished as he realized that that wasn't the only support that had vanished. A quick blue inquiry confirmed that yes, the enemy had destroyed the foundations of the Outpost. Pretty vindictive, thought Aridith, destroying an entire city just to get to me.

Luckily for the Hyxali of the outpost, he had an interest in keeping it standing. With a not insignificant amount of effort, he pulled power from the zombie population, using it to form black vines around the major supports of the outpost.

That should hold it until the Hyxali fix it, he thought, grunting slightly with the effort. Which wouldn't be very long- Hyxali were fantastic workers. Already he could tell that the job was nearly a quarter done.

I wonder if I can hurry it along, he thought all of a sudden, remembering his new acquisition. Surely Baalhan had to have a spell for repairing things. A quick blue inquiry confirmed and provided him with the spell, and a few moments later Baalhan was rattling it out. But nothing happened.

That's odd, thought Aridith, making another blue inquiry. Moments later, the answer came to him. The spells were supposed to be natural magic, supported by the fabric of the world- except that they weren't. Not in Universe Hexagon, at any rate. In fact, the only reason the spells had worked at all was because of Baalhan's presence - and, apparently, that of his comrade Nathrangking. And not just the presence of the body, either; presence of mind was required as well.

Baalhan feels his magic stretching and struggling and then dying. He chuckles and turns to the shadowy figures. "It seems that Aridith is discovering what happens when you play games with divine magic."

I just realized that I recognize basically everyone in this thread, and you’re all cool, and thus this thread must be cool, and thus I must be missing out on something cool, and that’s unacceptable. I don’t wanna ask for a summary because that’s annoying, so instead I’ll ask: how many pages back do you think I’d have to read to be able to understand what’s happening? Are y’all just too deep in it for a newcomer to join?

Of course you can join! We're in Shadesmar being chased by something that we first learn exists at the end of page 156. Just wander up, probably.

Nah, I just joined myself. There's a summary a few pages back they made for me, cause I'm just that annoying person... I literally came flying with swinging a knife around, sooo, that was fun...

We're never in too deep for a newcomer! If you want our current situation, then, ah... Page 144? That's when Winter eats Mordred.

I nod. "Remember what I said Fox. Live with caution not fear."

The Fox nods in recognition, contemplating on that. It reminds her of something her sister used to say, Assume the best, prepare for the worst. The Fox guesses she had kind of fallen out of that these days. Perhaps this man was here to remind her of that. "What did you say your name was again?"

This was unfortunate. Aridith had been rather looking forward to having a weapon of such capabilities on his side. Perhaps he could bring back Nathrangking? He sent out a quick blue inquiry to ascertain the man's location. A few small inquiries later, he noticed something alarming - a blitae, hot on the tail of Nath and his comrades. Well, so much for that, thought Aridith, letting the thought fade from his mind. The last thing he wanted to do was mess with the Witherlord. He'd just have to make do with what he had. To be fair, Baalhan was still plenty powerful without his spells. Aridith had, after all, been planning to move ahead before he'd even become aware that Baalhan existed. The addition of an extra fighter would not unduly alter the plan.

The power that Baalhan had wielded certainly was singular, however. Given that further blue inquiries into the mechanisms behind the power were proving fruitless... the only thing he could suppose was that Narration had to be involved in some way.

Whatever it was, though, it was a moot point. Both Baalhan and Nath were claimed by members of the few powers that Aridith feared. Their parts in his plan were finished.

Interestingly enough, I have also created a similar concept. It is what currently holds Baalhan prisoner.

Okay, thanks guys! I’ll get to reading to figure out the story so far, one thing I would like a summary of though is the current party. Who is who basically. I have like a gazillion ideas for characters, so I want to narrow it down by creating someone who fits well with the group. What powers and people are there currently? (I’m kinda leaning towards some sort of Allomancer/Kandra combo right now)

As far as I know we don't have anything like that. I don't want to try and list everyone because I know I'll miss someone
