Confused, I give the king a piece of chocolate cake, then realize my mistake and instead give him a kumquat. (Does anyone know what that tastes like?)

Nope

Vapor edges slowly towards Jek. When she is next to him, she grabs the paper from his hand and uncrinkles it. It reads: The king is an unstable man; be careful what you say around him, or even around his servants. I only hope that someday our daughter will find the truth. Vapor stares at it for a moment. "What does that mean?" she whispers.

T walks over. Looking at the paper, she whispers to Vapor. "It seems that your father may have been writing to someone, perhaps your mother. It seems to be sensible advice."

Ember, noting the quick response to Jek's flight, decides not to flee. He walks over to the conversation, catching the last sentence. He whispers. "Advice I would give in any circumstance, to be careful in what you say."

Jek is a character name in WoKP, although I'm pretty sure she hasn't read any of it. (As her sibling)

Sazed was originally going to be named Jek

Vapor smiled slightly, tucking the paper into her pocket carefully.

In front of her, the king and his guards were conversing. They seemed to have reached a decision, and a holed spoke. "Due to the fact that this man did not commit any crime, and that the king is feeling merciful, we will allow this man to go back to his group." The guards pushed Jek back to his spot.

Vapor leaned over. "You don't owe me anymore," she whispered. "Thank you."

I have plans for him, you know.  It may be more fun to go spoiler-free.

Aridith nods at Santonio. "Do it," he says simply.

Santonio raises his arm and clenches his fist. A wavering streak of whiteness appears in front of him, hovering in the air for a couple of seconds. Nothing appears from it. Santonio grunts, clenching harder- and slowly, a figure materializes from the whiteness. A man, wearing a white lab coat.

Vapor's father.

He sighs when he sees the King. "Really? Again? I've already told you, I-"

"I have an offer," says the King.

"Really," says Vapor's father, skeptical. "Well, it had better be better than your last offer."

"It is." The King makes a motion with his hand. "Turn around and see for yourself."

"It's here?" says Vapor's father, beginning to turn around. "What could..."

He trails off as he sees Vapor. His eyes widen.

"Is this real?" he whispers.

Aridith laughs, a harsh bark without a trace of humor. "You think I could fool you? With that on you?"

He gestures to the man's chest, where a purple gemstone hangs on a thong.

---

In Fadran's mind, a voice draws a breath.

"Humastuk," hisses the blue, and even though the language is unfamiliar it's clear it's a curse word. "The prize is the girl. This is bad."

@Channelknight Fadran

---

"You said that she was dead," says Vapor's father, his voice hoarse. "Did you... lie?"

"You know I can't lie to you, either. I thought she was dead." Aridith glanced at Vapor. "Some power hid her from the sight of my blues."

All of a sudden, one of the party bolts for the door. He gets two steps before green light from both of the holed standing next to the King slams into him, freezing him in place.

An orange holed leaps across the room and grabs Jek's arm as the green light dissolves, bringing him to the king. In the man's hand is a crumpled piece of paper, which the orange rips free and hands it to Aridith.

Aridith turns to the blue holed to the left him, who is suddenly looking utterly bewildered. "What?" he manages. "How is that... that can't be... surely it's not possible that...?" The blue shoots a confused glance at Vapor's father, then to Jek, then to Vapor. His eyes widen.

Aridith looks at Vapor with interest. "Curious," he murmurs. He stands up off his throne and takes a step towards her, waving a dismissive finger at the orange holed holding Jek. With a grunt, the orange shoves him across the room towards the group. Vapor leans over and whispers something in his ear, a smile on her face. Aridith paces slowly towards her as Santonio gives his verdict, arriving at her side as the white says the final word.

The King bends over and whispers to Vapor. "The king is an unstable man; be careful what you say around him, or even around his servants. I only hope that someday our daughter will find the truth." His black eyes glint with... something. Ambition? Greed? Curiosity? "Interesting words indeed."

He stands up. "Show them," he commands. Behind him, both blues close their eyes and take the hand of the purple standing next to them.

And suddenly, the scene changes.

Vapor's father sits at a table in a room half-broken, half-burned. The watchers can feel the man's tiredness, his desperation, as he writes a note to give to the one person left whom he and his wife can trust. He knows-

"What?" exclaims Vapor's father and the vision grinds to a halt. "Was that me?" His voice is incredulous. "How... is that a vision of the future? I thought that was impossible!"

"No," says the King, his eyes still on Vapor. "It was a vision of the past. Just not the true one."

Vapor blinks, her eyes starting to well up. "Dad?"

She shudders slightly at Aridith's breath on her ear.

At the vision, Vapor stares in wonder.

"Enough games." The glow from Baalhan's armor becomes blinding. He pivots and grabs the king by the back of his neck hauling him off of the floor. with a single gauntlet covered hand "Hear me mortal. These are honorable being if you do not command that we all be free to go then here you will die." His voice stays calm despite his rage. His blade appears from the aether and he holds it against the king's neck. HE grows in size until he towers over everyone.

The two greens fire at Baalhan simultaneously, freezing the man in place. Aridith snorts with displeasure. "Fool." he says derisively.

His eyes flash black, and an a relentless force grabs hold of the war god's mind. Black rings flicker in the man's irises for a moment- but then, suddenly, they dissipate, and the mental pressure along with them.

"A powerful mind," says Aridith. "Yes... I think I can find a use for you."

With that, Baalhan vanishes in a flash of black light as Aridith sends him to the dungeons.

He spins in a circle his broadsword catching the two greens and cutting through them as though they were air. They were dead before they could even scream. He bares his draconic fangs as he grabs Santoio by the throats and impales him on his blade. He mutters a word and Santonio bursts into flames. He pulls his blade out of the screaming Holid. The other Holids fire their magic uselessly as he fells them one by one. In a manner of moments all of the Holids save the king himself are dead or dying. "You were mistaken to try and imprison the embodiment of slaughter! I am eons old and you are, but a speck of dust." He chants a quick incantation and the king is bound hand and foot in unbreakable sapphire chains. "Let's try this again will you grant us passage or not?"

Oh fun, godmodding battles

I’m all caught up! Sorry I’ve been such a nonentity, hopefully I can interact with someone or something. Before I hop back into this, I have a couple questions.

One, Xino, is it possible for an Author to suppress their avatar’s ability to Narrate? Also, do I capitalize Avatar? Two, also Xino, or technically I guess this is three but whatever, could we maybe get an rundown of the holed/Hyxali magic system and worldbuilding, unless that ruins the plot?

Fadran, would it be possible to plan a character thing with that Spiritcalling with you and Ene that doesn’t involve godmodding (I’d give you descriptions of what he found, as I have some ideas)? Inb4 the whole party gets this treatment

And would it be possible for me to have an interaction with Grace, if she’s still around?
