I've heard a lot of people recommend it, but now that it's on Netflix I'm going to watch it.

This is one of those shows where I’m like “I’ve heard it’s really good, and I’m definitely going to watch it someday” but still haven’t watched. Someone give me motivation to watch this!!

For a moment there I forgot about my username and was slightly concerned

Uh... o-okay *nods* I’ll watch it!

Seriously though, it is amazing in its worldbuilding, surprisingly insightful regarding real world issues and philosophies.

Many consider this the pinnacle of elemental magics in fantasy. The movements, the choreography involved in Bending is visually beautiful.

The characters really grow on you.

And when you're done, you can see a modern interpretation of their world in a follow-up series called the Legend of Korra, which is also quite good but follows a one storyline per season format which puts many people off

I wish I could go back to when I watched it for the first time...

Uncle Iroh. That man alone is enough to get me to watch any tv show

I really love this series. I cried so hard in appa's episode (Season 2) When he is trying to get back to aang. It was so sad!

Iron is by far one of the best characters in all of pop culture.

But seriously, Avatar is one of the greatest creations ever. It has flawed, realistic characters and one of the best redemption arcs EVER. Everyone should watch it at least once in their lifetime.

Is Korra worth watching? I tried it a few years ago, but could only get past a few episodes. The world just seemed so different and it was slightly off putting for me. I did watch the Avatar Wu (is that his name?) episodes and enjoyed those.

Preach Brother, Preach.

Iroh is one of those mentor characters where you actually follow his advice.

It is worth watching, in my opinion. It doesn't always follow through with its developments in previous seasons though.

Spoiler

Do you mean when Korra took on giant glowing blue form?

I, personally, liked the Red Lotus arc more

Hey, you might want to put that in spoilers, some people are probably watching the series for the first time;)

Spoiler

But yeah, that part is so sad! That entire episode is one of my favorites

Iroh’s story in The Tales of Ba Sing Se is so sad, and the context for it irl makes it even sadder :(

I was so stoked when I saw that Netflix is producing the live action series of Avatar, but this time headed by the original creators. The movie adaptation was a travesty, and I've been patiently waiting for this new live action adaptation, hoping that they will do right by it this time.

If you haven't watched it, you should. I don't know how many times I've watched it, but it has everything you'd ever want to see in a hero movie. A flawed hero, amazing supporting characters, superior character development (even of the supporting cast), redemption stories, mentorship, family, comedy - you name it. It also has an innocence that I don't see much anymore in newer anime.

Surprisingly, for a fantasy fan, I used to think anime to be juvenile (gasp), until I watched this series, and it got me started on some classic anime stuff afterwards.

Also, Iroh is amazing. If the Avatar creators will make something like a spinoff of just Iroh, I will still watch it. Oh, and the songs stick in your head for days.

"It's a long, long way to Ba Sing Se, but the girls in the city they look soo prett-ay!" - Iroh

"Secret Tunnel! Secret secret secret  secret tunnnneeeeelll!" - Nomads

Nooooooo!!! It took me so long to get the first part of that song out of my head, and now it's back!
