So the official Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer dropped today. And I gotta say I am crazy excited for it.

Same here. It looks awesome.

Good time as any to revive this. Has anyone seen the Doctor Strange movie? Personally, this goes somewhere among my 5 favorite mcu movies or so, don't know, I have to wait for the excitement to die down.

Development for the main two was great if not what I expected

Spoiler

Also Wanda left no body so she's alive (totally not wishful thinking)

And I do believe this would probably have been better as an R-rated movie. During every fight it just shows how badly it wanted to be one. This is a violent movie with training wheels.

I'm so pumped for Thor: Love and Thunder. Ragnarok might be my favorite movie of all time, so I have high hopes for this next one. Taika Waititi is the greatest of directors.

Quick question: I and some friends are watching all the marvel movies for the first time. One of these friends has seen most or all of the Marvel movies. The next one chronologically is Iron Man 2, and we're not sure if we should watch it. (Iron Man 1 was watched with ClearPlay, and Iron Man 2 would also need ClearPlay if we watch it.)

Is it important to watch Iron Man 2, or could/should I just skip it? How important is it to watch Iron Man 2?

Hmmmm let's see. There's an important character who first appears in Iron Man 2. In terms of character development Tony goes through some interesting points in that movie. In terms of contribution to the overarching plot though, I don't think it's the most important, no.

Mavel just announced their Phase 5 and part of their Phase 6, with two more Avengers movies in the pipeline! Hopefully we'll see the return of the Russo Bros with Secret Wars, although I wouldn't mind a new face for the other movie, since I like the separate identities of each set of Avengers movies possesses. I'd argue for Secret Wars' director not being the Russo Bros in order to keep the 1/2 3/4 split going, but the Russo Bros have been talking about Secret Wars for years, so it's only fair that they get a shot at directing it.

And the Black Panther Wakanda Forever trailer! It brought a literal tear to my eye.

That trailer for Wakanda Forever was incredible. I keep watching it over and over. Very excited for this one. And honestly, I still look forward to just about everything MCU. I know some people are feeling burnout. But I guess I’m not too picky about my stories and entertainment. I’ll like some of the offerings more than others, but I’ve never disliked something enough to make me stop watching other things from the same studio. So bring on all the MCU stuff.

Same, same and same about Wakanda Forever! I will admit that I'm upset they didn't recast T'Challa, but I hope the story they do tell about his death is better than similar ones as of late. (Star Wars I'm looking at you!)

I think it's less of burnout and more of the direction that the MCU has been going lately...or lack thereof. There hasn't been a capstone event that we've been really drawn to so far. We're getting there with Kang, but he's only made one appearance so far, and the Multiverse stuff has been...questionable to say the least. (Most of my friends were lukewarm at best about MoM, and while I adored L&T, several of my friends really didn't like it. They didn't like Ragnarok either, so that's to be expected.) But I'm hoping that Wakanda Forever will set ups back on a path with an actual path.

But yeah, I'm not tired of it either. I'm worried, but not tired.

Super random question to resurrect the thread, but what would you think it means if someone described you as Baymax (the robot from Big Hero 6)?

More than one person has directly or indirectly called me that lately, and I'm not sure what to think about it.

I finally finished Loki season 2! I thought it was pretty good, although I didn't find that it quite lived up to my very high expectations. The first episode of season one was spectacular. There was so much just hanging around and talking, and the characters being introduced were so cool that that's all I needed. The first episode of season two I found disappointing. It was a lot of action, I didn't really know what was happening, and the time skipping looked weird. After that I found the season really improved, although the time travel was confusing, the characters got a fair amount of attention, and I loved O.B so much. The end was amazing, awesome, epic, and other synonyms.

Spoiler for the last episode :

Spoiler

When the branches made a tree @The Stormfather basically screamed "It's Yggdrasil!" and I was like "Woah you're right" and both of us were yelling and our parents were so confused.

Loki season 2 is carried by the finale. I love that finale to death.

The rest of the season...

How I put it is that the first three episodes are garbage, episode four is better, episode five is episode one of season one level...

The finale is the golden child. It was unearned by the season and needed some more grounding in Loki's and the other character's arcs in the rest of the show and the movies.

One note is that I really loved how the first and last episodes were called "Glorious purpose."

Yeah, this is awesome. This line has become so meaningful to Loki, and every time it comes up it means something different to him. It starts as an excuse that he spouts to justify his conquest, grows into something that reminds him of his failure, and then into something that urges him forwards as he fights for th freedom of the universe. And now in the finale, he truly has found his "glorious purpose".

Another reason the last episode is amazing : Time travel. Never thought I'd say this, because most of the time I think time travel is kind of dumb in TV (At least going backwards and changing things in the past) but here it was awesome. Him just trying the same thing over and over is hilarious, especially Mobius being so confused every time. By the time it was actually working and he was like "don't set the multiplier down or it will roll off the gangway" I was basically screaming. I'm also so glad we got to see normal creepy evil King instead boring friendly Victor Timely, and that the scene in the Citadel at the end of Time was revisited.

He's a quality villain who I hope doesn't get ruined in later movies/shows.

They waste Kang and I will officially say that nothing good can come from Marvel anymore...

As of right now, I think Marvel is like Black Widow hanging off of Hawkeye's hand, about to fall into the abyss and disappear into history.

Forever.

I hope they can reclaim good storytelling, good writing and more. However, as of right now, the only MCU content I will be watching is stuff I explicitly hear is good, Spiderman movies, Black Panther stuff and a few other assorted projects.

But that's just me.

A film me...

Yeah, The Marvels was kind of bad. I liked all the characters, thought the actors were good, but the movie was just ok.

And don't even get me started about Thor : Love and Thunder.

I haven't watched it, but I've heard from some cousins that it's a bit of a mess. I think one good reason to watch it would be to laugh at how badly it was done.

Definitely. There are so many times where I was just staring at the screen like "what? and why?". So many weird choices like (minor spoiler)

After two years, I've revised my MCU Watch Order! I don't think I've ever put it here, but it'll be fun to share. Not everything will be added to the list, as the list is based on character importance, overarching arc importance, repetitiveness, and quality. For example, I won't be adding Doctor Strange 2 (at this time) because WandaVision and Loki cover similar material in a better format. WandaVision and DS 2, which being connected, feel like they run antithetical to each other in terms of Wanda's characterization and overall importance. As such, I think leaving out Doctor Strange gives us a better take on the character and a smoother experience. Moon Knight and She-Hulk are also being excluded, mostly due to lack of relevance at this time.

Post-Credit Scenes are not taken into account here and are in most cases are better off avoided. There are only two that should outright be avoided in this list though - Captain Marvel and Black Widow. The rest are fine. Fox's X-Men movies are not included due to the lack of important crossover at this time. (Yes, I know when they do crossover, but they don't do so with enough importance at this time to feel as if they're necessary.)

I've also added in the Sony Spider-Man movies, for reasons that help both the Sony movies and the MCU IMO, and have Batman as interludes for kicks and giggles. Feel free to ignore those. Without further ado, let's enjoy!
