Well it's 65 bucks for the event. No way I could fly, that's way too expensive. 

So 700 miles of gas. Call that 200 bucks both ways. 

Then a hotel for two nights is 130 bucks at motel six. 

That adds up to like 400 bucks and then I still need to pay for food and whatever swag I get at the event. 

That does seem like a lot of money...but then again...maybe I could...idk. Is my math even right?

Math is about right, yeah.  Attending a con out-of-state can be expensive.  But remember this is a once-a-year event.  (And you don't have to go to all of them, so it could be less frequent for you.)  So the question is, is the experience worth $500/year to you?  If it is, come.  If not, stay home.
