I was there for part one but I had to take a hiatus, can I still hop in or no?

"What exactly does the treaty specify?" buzzed Daa.

@Sherlock Holmes

"I'm not entirely sure, but CotW is allying itself with most of the Great Guilds, including the DA, so I doubt it means any harm to us or the people."

Sure! The best place to start would probably be stumbling into the Odd Job Tavern thread- there's a lot less "MAIN PLOT!!!" nonsense going on around there.

Zokora held out her hand in greeting.

"Zokora An'Inera. It's a pleasure to meet you."

She made a guesture towards the spren-like-figure.

"They sent that one to meet with me, I am waiting for a general reply if they are open for negotiations right now."

Stormbreaker shook her hand, then turned to the spren.  He sincerely hoped that the negotiations would go well, but if they did, he and Zokora would see the first action.  He silent called in sever Viper drop-ships to evacuate them if things went sideways, and positioned artillery cannons outside of the city to cover their retreat.

The spren bellowed, a deep sound.

"We are willing to negotiate."

Stormbreaker turned, startled.  He then motioned Edalb forwards.  In terms of expendablilty, he was irreplaceable.  In addition, Edalb was intelligent and carried a copy of the Diagram around.  She stepped forwards and said, "First of all, what are your intentions in Alleycity?"

Daa buzzed in confusion. "If you don't know what it says, how do you know it would 'tie down' the Ghostbloods?"

"Because I am a Ghostblood, and a well-respected veteran of the Seven Day War," Tena said. "The only reason they would keep something from me is if they didn't want TUBA to hear about it, and they don't have anything against TUBA right now."

"The Ghostbloods are a secretive organization. I would be surprised if there are not several things that they would keep from you, especially if they know you are in TUBA. Just because we are on friendly terms right now doesn't mean they don't have something to hide. If they were planning an secret offensive against us, they would hardly let you know, would they?"

"No, they wouldn't, but they have no reason to do so," Tena said, getting out her phone and calling councilman Ark.

In the interests of keeping related things in the same thread will be moving some of the DA group here but location wise are still currently in the Alleys.

Laurelai stepped out into her quarters, bringing the others with her as she'd Alleytravelled out of Alley 0. They arrived in the hallway between her workshop and kitchen but she immediately strode towards her workshop door, holding it open for the others as she stepped into the room.

Bookshelves lined the walls, the spines showing titles in a variety of languages, Scadrian, Alethi, English, a large number with various Selish symbols on them. In the center of the room lay a desk with chunks of Soulstone littered about its surface, loose sheets of paper with shorthand scribbles on them, a few half-completed stamps.

"Sorry." Laurelai said, beginning to move around the room and straighten a few of the books, pull the papers into a pile and cleaning up the other items that lay strewn about the place before finally gesturing to the couch which stood on the other side of the desk. "Please, sit. I'll get some drinks."

"That may be the case," continued Daa. "Without further information, that's what I would assume. However, we can't discard the idea entirely."

Neil nodded in agreement as his seon continued to talk. What he said, he thought- although he didn't say it out loud.

"If it is the Ghostbloods behind this- and I'm not saying it is- then it's most likely an attempt to improve their image. I saw something on the way here, something along the lines of 'the Ghostbloods will take care of this.' The recent fiasco with CotW hit their reputation hard; this could be something to make up for that."

Lita took in Laurelai's inner quarters with a small sense of satisfaction, suddenly not feeling quite so embarrassed over the state of her own rooms. "I'll come help," Lita offered, not waiting for a reply. She followed Laurelai into her little kitchen, then pulled the coin out of her pocket.

"This thing is way more than a token," she said holding it up. "It's a Feruchemical medallion - a good-luck charm type thing." Lita squeezed her eyes, trying to recall everything the Stranger had said. "There's Chromium, um... duralumin? Yes. It gets hot if there's danger too. And..."

Lita cut off, looking down at the coin. The gold coin. "And Feruchemical gold," she finished, almost whispering. Part of her was terrified that Laurelai would steal this thing from her, but another told her it was ridiculous to keep this information from someone she was about to partner with on such a dangerous mission. Someone needed to know, in case things got bad.

"Apparently, it'll also take me back to the Alleys if I really need it."

And I can use it like some kind of mad telegraph to speak directly with the Stranger. That was certainly something she deeply hoped she did not need to use. Ever. Lita was silent for another moment before looking up at Laurelai. It was time to do some practical research on this thing.

"So," she said carefully, flipping the coin. "Do you have a knife around here?"

And yet, they went to great lengths to distance themselves from the event. Presumably, they want to be on friendly terms with the other guilds.

This is true. But rest assured, it will be quick and painless ^_^ we’re assassins, not monsters. ;)

The Vortex flashed a bright white, then three spren emerged.

The first was what had caused the light, a bright white spren, three times the size of a human, with something reminiscent of shardblade on it's surface. Brilliant white wings, almost like shards of glass had replaced feathers, spread from it's back.

The second was a green serpent, big enough to stretch around the entire room, slightly transparent, dark emerald like bones visible within.

The third was a flurry of parts, arms, legs, tentacles, heads, all from different species, different worlds, different laws of physics. Only two things remained the same throughout the creature. The color, oily black with opening of a dark beige. And the rot. All over, the tentacles, the arms, the strange extrusions, seemed to be dying, rotting, and they turned to dust as soon as new ones formed. A dark grey haze seemed to surround the thing.

The man walked forward, towards the white spren. He spoke in a screechy voice, unlike anything Bellatrix knew. "Axerin lem zardell?" The creature looked down, it's marble-like face seeming to show surprise.

"You need not speak the ancient language." It looked around. "What is this place?"

The man grinned. "PlasmaCore. We're the masters of this universe, but our subjects have forsaken us. So we decided to summon great beings like yourself, to beg for help." He gestured towards the snake and the thing. "These we hope to harness."

The spren nodded. "I will join you then." The man grinned. "Good, thank you." He walked towards the serpent, and his body glowed a searing green. It recoiled, and his eyes turned black within the glow. The creature's eyes, formerly leaf green, bled an oily black. It turned, slithering through the door. The white spren followed.

Finally, the man turned to the thing. Bellatrix watched, fascinated, as he pressed into it, his body disappearing. Soon, his face popped up on the thing, a multitude of times. His arms and legs as well. The thing moved, leaving a trail of rusted metal, rotten wood, and eroded stone. He pulled out of the back, but it kept going.

He grinned. "It's time you know my name. I am Lord Ajax. I will transform this realm substantially."

Well that'll certainly come in handy. Laurelai mused, taking an interested glance at the coin. One less person to Reseal if explosions start going off or anything.

Laurelai nodded as she continued staring at the coin, she pulled a small dagger out from a hidden fold of her dress. She hadn't needed it so far thankfully but it was always best to be prepared.

"This should do." She said. "Not the sharpest blade in the world but then on the first try you probably don't really want that."

She flipped the dagger in one hand, offering the hilt to Lita.

"Oh, and one more thing..." She said, bending to open a small cupboard and rummaging through it.

A moment later there was a small clinking of glass as two port glasses were set down on a counter, followed by an unopened bottle. Laurelai resurfaced with a small smile and poured a glass for each of them.

"We'll probably need these."

Five minutes prior...

The young man froze. He often daydreamed while working, but he knew the difference between visions and daydreams. For one, his daydreams typically didn't involve things that belonged in the DA's laboratory and for another, they didn't leave him knowing when he’d nodded off.

He set down the paper in his hand and picked up his phone. He felt kind of bad texting Deteca already since she'd basically just left. For all he knew she was in the middle of some important meeting that could save the world. But then again, what he needed to tell her also might.

After nervously pushing back up his glasses a couple of times and procrastinationg, he typed out a short message, deleted it, and rewrote it a couple of times. In the end he just went with one simple sentence. I saw a monster, but spotted no spikes.

He pressed send, wondering if it was just his nerves getting to him. The fact he’d seen the ceiling last night and now this...it could only mean one of two things.

Either he was going actually crazy, or, well, he was in danger.

Setting down his phone, he turned back to the graphs on the paper, doing his best to ignore the sinking feeling in his stomach.

The text is sent in normal time. He deliberated for around five minutes.

Deteca pulled out her phone as it vibrated in her pocket. She narrowed her eyes at it, then texted back, da abom?

Lita took the dagger by the hilt, then, grimacing, she pressed the blade against the top of her forearm. Despite Laurelai's warning that it wasn't particularly sharp, her skin parted with chilling ease beneath the steel. For a moment there was nothing, then a sharp, clean pain blossomed on her arm along with a stripe of warm blood.

"Rusts," Lita swore, and extinguished her tin. Stupid. The pain lessened a bit, but still stung. She held the gold coin in her left hand and tried reaching out for it the same way she did with her brassminds. Though she half-expected it, she was still rather stunned to discover a whole wealth of something within the coin. Here goes nothing.

Lita tapped gold. Instantly, her skin began to re-knit itself, scabbing, scarring, then fading into... nothing. Lita let go of the gold, staring at her arm in disbelief.

"Holy rusting hell," she said, then felt a wide, stupid grin come over her face. With great effort, Lita resisted the urge to jump into the air, instead opting for a slight shake of her shoulders. She looked at the glasses and the bottle of port, still smiling, then recalled the Stranger's words of warning. Her grin slipped a bit, and she slid the coin back into her pocket.

"So, PlasmaCore." Lita rubbed her eyes, suddenly tired. "What do you think is our best angle? Also, and I do hate to be rude, but I am in dire need of some of that." She pointed to the port. "And we should likely find some food, unless we want to begin this mission utterly soused beyond our wits."
