A small bird flies over the city, spotting its' target, Bellatrix. It dove down and dropped a letter, pooping on her as it did so, the bird cawed and flew back into the night,

The letter reads

Bellatrix. The man who teleported me away was a ghostblood agent. Me, and the rest of the panthers have gone to ground for the time being. We beat, but they might be coming back. Mike was part of the attempt on my life. That leaves me with two options. Either Mike's a traitor, and information I share with you isn't secure, or that you were behind the attempt on my life. Either way I'm rather disinclined to work with you. Inside the envelope, just behind the letter is a sigil, rub some of your blood on it if you need to contact us. I'll send some agents but it's one time use only.

If I find out that you were trying to kill me, it will not end well for you.

Syndicate, high epic, leader of the panthers and formed blade of the Taldain's Scythe. I wish you well.

It turned. "Your precious diagram. And the DA resources." It spun ever faster through the insane spiral of faces, adding in the pattern of Crypitcs, random shapes not even faces.

"The secrets. The secrets of the universe."

@Sorana @Vargo Seldon

Edalb unconsciously put a hand on the satchel that contained the Diagram.  Stormbreaker took a sharp intake of breath.  With the Diagram, Plasmacore would be invincible.  No, they wouldn't be able to add anything to it, but they would be able to take over the Alleyverse at least with the resources they had.  But was it worth it?  Or would they just come back?

To be sure, the Master Diagram back in Fortress Eternal contained the secrets of the universe.  But Plasmacore would have to take it from their cold, dead, hands.

Edalb said, "You may not have the Master Diagram of it's entirety, but you may have this snippet right here," she gestured to her satchel.  "It relates to current events and those events in the near future.  And if it makes you leave and never return, then you may have all of our resources as well."

Do you mean the Diagram's resources or the DA's resources. Since promising the later one will likely get the rest of the DA somewhat angry at your character.

...

Promise them the DA's resources as well, KanMien could use some new test subjects for their biology experiments.

I can only assume that Ark meant to demand the Diagramist resources since I have no jurisdiction whatsoever within the DA.

Laurelai gave Lita a sly smile and picked another cookie for herself.

"Benefit of getting stabbed a bunch of times." She said. "Best cookies in the Alleyverse. Worth it even without the extra abilities if you ask me."

Finishing up the cookie, she looked over Kumiko and Whisper in response to KanMien's plan. They were certainly the most likely to be able to not be noticed spying, both could completely change how they looked after all. If they were spotted they'd be in a lot of trouble quickly, but a Kandra and a Knight Radiant stood a lot better of a chance of surviving than she would.

"It would seem to be the best distribution." She said, nodding to them. "Do you two think you'd be okay? We have no idea what might come out of there after all."

Whisper quickly nodded, the spike spinning in her hands, though the conjoiner fabrial seemed to be switched off for the moment so Laurelai simply watched the spike itself to determine the message.

Will be fine, can get away if need to.

Whisper then looked curiously over at Kumiko.

It paused. "We need DA bindpoints as well."

Edalb shook her head.  "We really can't grant the DA resources, or really anything about them.  If you want to talk to a denizen, I can summon one."

She then began to do a complex choreographed dance, summoning a powerful denizen indeed.

A somewhat portly man in a waistcoat appeared in a puff of smoke, he seemed to be sneering at a stopwatch but quickly glanced around, a little confused.

"Who summons the great and powerful Metronome!?!"

Not in the DA, but he is the most powerful after all.

The Haunt was a massive figure of fog, now taller than a skyscraper. That gave him some perks. He could hear awes and gasps as he strode forward, he of course could hover as well, but it gave a certain satisfaction to hear the thus of his own steps and crowds trying to avoid being crushed by his weight.

Of course, as a being made of fog, he had no weight. However, his great size did suffocate some people with fog who were unlucky enough to get in his way. Because, surprisingly, he wasn’t attempting to kill civilians. He was walking towards that large marine ship in the distance.

When he was near he grew bigger and enveloped the ship in his mass, now far taller and larger than any two skyscrapers combined. While fully enveloping the ship did not harm it in any way, it did block all view of the outside world, only being able to see thick fog. He rumbled in amusement.

Kumiko nodded. "Sounds good," she said. She then looked at KanMien. "Can you?" she asked, holding out her hand. "Sure," they said, grabbing it, and then releasing it again. "It might be good to stop by the abominations before you go," they said. "The Strangers have the ability to make themselves unnoticeable. It might come in handy."

Daa paused. "You know," he continued thoughtfully, "I saw something that looked kind of like it might be an abomination at one of the smaller businesses that I visited. Not guild supported, though, so they wouldn't have many resources."

Whisper shook her head towards the suggestion, spike spinning once more.

Agreement. No abomination. She looked up at KanMien as she signed. Could break promise? Might cause problems.

"She's right, we did technically agree not to use any abominations with TUBA, and for the moment it seems like we're trying to maintain some semblance of a relationship so us violating that promise could cause some problems." Laurelai said, frowning a little. "I'd rather not be the cause for an all out guild war erupting in the city again, last time it didn't end too well for anyone."

KanMien tilted their reply, not immediately understanding the reply.

"Ah, you meant that," they said when they figured it out. "I didn't mean actually taking a Stranger, that would end horribly. I meant having Kumiko copy its abilities." They tilted their head again. "Does that still count as using Abominations?"

Ah, missed the change of pronoun in the previous speech, thought that was Kumiko speaking to the others. :P

Laurelai's eyes sparkled as she caught on to KanMien's intention.

"Well I feel like that should be permissible." She said with a smile. "And certainly likely to come in handy, but would you be able to turn it on and off? I've read plenty of research notes on the Strangers but I haven't had to work with them much before."

Strangers were unsettling at the best of times, you never noticed they were there until they were right in front of you, and even when all they were doing was handing you a file, having someone sneak up at you from right in front of your face was always a little unsettling. They were however, undeniably effective and useful.

Whisper hesitated for a moment before silently nodding as well.

"Well then." Laurelai said. "Sounds like the start of a plan at least, we can use this place as a meeting point. As long as we have spanreeds among us we should be able to arrange to meet back up. Final toast then?"

She raised her glass of port towards the others, a little tense that they were about to be heading out into a situation like this, but satisfied that they stood a good chance of avoiding any direct conflict at least.

Sorry, my fault.

The Haunt walked over to the PlasmaCore building, tiny and insignificant. Walking ahead, the Haunt easily stood in front of it, blocking nearby surveillance and confusing scouts all around. It fully enveloped a small group of people, and a few of them did of suffocation among the swirling fog.

—-

Lusk saw the reply, quickly searching up the squadron name in the Ghostblood database. Sure enough, it was there, recently added by Mr. Itiah. Team of Underlings. More effective than it sounds, trust me. Bad assassins, great for intel.

Lusk saw the message. A team of underlings? How could they possibly be effective as a squadron team when the main advantage with underlings was purely that there was so many of them, everyone could be replaced. But the description said to have faith in it and Lusk obliged, sighing. He was far too old for this. Looking ahead he saw a cloud monster thing cover the PlasmaCore building and he cursed.

It says here you’re good for gathering information, Lusk messaged back. We’re trying out diplomacy, so don’t try infiltration yet. Just try to look around, try to see any weaknesses in the building, it’s a bit hard to see now with that thing obscuring it. We’ve got men on the roof who’ve already given us defended positions. Try to see another point of entry if we decide we need to infiltrate.

He didn’t expect much of them, but what could he say? He was open to surprises.

Aons flashed within the fog, and the Haunt was blasted away.

Mike stared at his mobile for a bit longer, prayed for a reply, but none came. He wished she would give him a chance to explain, to tell her the truth.

"We've got some orders. Find out where and how we could best enter the building. There are already troops close by, but someone seems to try a diplomatic approach."

He told his friends and then texted Lusk that they would do it. Focus on the mission. Maybe he would meet Bella accidently, she was somewhere here as well.

"We don't happen to have something to communicate easily?"
