“Odd disappearances happen all the time, in the Radiant community. Most of the time, we don’t know what happened to them. Occasionally, a Radiant would be found, with their spren bond severed, and their memories of Investiture gone. There are lots of theories. The Unmade theory is rather popular, but nobody knows how the Unmade would do it.” Doc paused, “Until now, I guess.”

Jamie and Cassie can go look for Evelyn after this scene.

Draug frowned. "You mean you don't know? How..."

He trailed off. He'd assumed that that part of his learning had been something every Radiant learned, but that wasn't necessarily the case, was it? His tutor had taught him many other things that (as he'd found out later) nobody else had known.

"They are correct," he said quietly. "She is an Unmade. A powerful one... Tell me, have you ever left Seattle?"

Shana leaned against Ben and listened to Doc and Draug talking. This was her home, her family. They all were. Those that had lived here for a while and those that had joined them a few hours ago. Her eyes rested on Doc as she wondered if he would approach her again - but no he would not. Hopefully he would simply let her stay here. She'd learned her lesson, maybe too well. Think about what you are fighting for. James words. You can be one of our heroes. James, always supporting them, showing them a way. She knew why she was fighting, knew it, but she hadn't told them.

She was here to fight for them, to kill so that they had a choice, a possibility to step back. It was about that choice, not about the path you took. The choice. Doc. He knew, he always knew, but he kept her out of it, kept all of them out of it. Except for Cassie and the new one Draug. Shana suddenly despised them, although she loved Cassie as dear as a sister. She  wanted to belong as well, to stand up and have a say. Not to sit down and be told, that there were more important things. And yet here she was, sitting down like a child. Anger had her form fists, so thight that her nails bit into her flesh. Wrong, stupid, she knew it. But jealously only rarely was logical and sane. She loved Doc, looked up to him, wanted for him to look at her and she someone who had accomplished something, but instead she felt like a failure, unworthy to sit here amongst them.

Shana stared at Draug and Doc talking. She was here to fight for them. And she would. She would do everything to protect the, to take that burden. Maybe it wasn't enough for Doc, but maybe it would be enough for Ben, Rob, James, Leona, Flid and all the others.

DIEEEEEEE

Won't do.

Your characters don't have to be in a ship if you don't want them to; it's just a prom thing. Heck, you don't even have to stay in any one relationship.

Wait, so you do hate Cassie, or you don't hate Cassie?

Shopping before we timeskip is barely in the lead, so we'll quickly do that - maybe do a small timeskip to it late in this day, even - then go for the prom. Cassie and Jamie can be getting Evelyn while the others shop, unless Dapper wants Jamie to go shopping, in which case we'll figure something else out. Does that sound okay to everyone?

Rob saw the others wake up and go to their own tasks. Draug talked with Doc, Shana and Ben were on the couch together, and some had gone off away from the living room.

“Prom is coming up,” Rob said. “I personally am not worried about fashion, but I heard you all wanted to shop before we went? You could do that now, there isn’t much more time until prom.”

Ben listened to them talk, plan, speculate. He desperately wanted to take part in their conversation, to ask questions and theorize, but he just didn’t have the energy. Didn’t have the strength. He heard Rob say something about... fashion, was it? He was too tired to focus on what he was saying. His eyes began to drift closed. He tried to stop them, but it was like trying to stop Leona from eating cake. He started to drift off, blackness slowly overtaking his vision.

You didn't see my earlier response.

He hummed. "There are people downstairs... we should probably go see then, eh?" He smiled, standing and still cradling his spren close.

Ben jerked awake. Had he been sleeping?

”I-I don’t know if that would help.”

He paused, his thoughts feeling like molasses.

”Maybe the... surges”

Thinking of the correct word was difficult.

”Are different. They seem to drain you, tire you, without your being able to do a thing about it...”

He yawned, feeling like his jaw was going to split in half.

"Do you need some painkillers?"

“No, I don’t think... don’t think those would help. I’m just tired, not in pain...”

He got an idea. A pretty terrible idea, but an idea nonetheless.

”A-Anyone have caffeine?”

Ben gets very hyper on caffeine.

Flid shrugged, not knowing any better. "Sure." He got a cup of it, with extra sugar mixed in (Heheh) and handed it to Ben. "You sure this'll help?"

“I honestly have no idea...”

Ben knew that this probably wasn’t the best course of action, but he was pretty much out of options. He lifted the cup to his lips with a shaking hand and took a sip. Immediately some of his tiredness vanished. Soon the entire cup had been drained. He titled his head back to get the last couple of drops, then set the cup down.

”Wow, I feel great, like I can do anything! In fact, I am going to go get a book!”

He said, talking so fast that it was almost too difficult to understand him. He tried to stand up, but his legs gave out and he ended up collapsed on the floor.

”Dang it.”

He only caffeinated his mind, not his body. :P

"GAK! Are you okay?!"

“Probably?”

He tried to stand up again, to get up off the floor, but he kept on falling back down.

”Caffeine and I do not mix well. And apparently I am still very tired. I just don’t feel like it. Why on Earth did I do this...”

"Well, it probably wasn't a good thing to put extra sugar in... Do you need some help?" He extended his hand to Ben.

“Yes please.”

Ben took his hand and let him pull him upwards, then sat back down on the couch. Well, more like fell.

“Well, at least I don’t think that I will be falling asleep anytime soon.”

“Fine, if you insist. Although I still think that it won’t help very much.”

Ben wasn’t about to argue with a Skybreaker, and getting healed probably wouldn’t do any damage.

Jamie raised an eyebrow, "You mean, like a doctor... I'm not sure that's a good idea."

~~~
Doc shrugged, thinking back. "I grew up here, but I moved away to go to Caltech on a scholarship. After that, I ended up homeless in Portland for maybe a few years. I swore the First Ideal a few weeks before I came back here."
