Salad stared incredulously in the direction of the kitchen as the sounds of shredding and clanging grew louder.

They blinked, then turned back to the menu. This had to be a dream.

Their reading was cut short as a man entered carrying an overflowing bowl of... was that the awakened stew?

Salad’s eyes followed the bowl as it moved across the room. The soup didn’t appear to be sentient, but the sight still unnerved them.

Lunamor nodded, gesturing for A.C. to take a seat at a table and bustling into the kitchen. As the doors closed, faint Unkalaki cursing could be heard as a mistakenly awakened dish towel attempted to do whatever a dish towel thought the definition of "be delicious" is.

“Mmmm, ohoho yes.” Mutters A.C. as the delicious smell of stew wafts down the aisle. He turns over to Salad, as if noticing them for the first time. “Oh! Hey Salad! Good to see you here!” His eyes take a far-away look. “Can’t you just smell all that awakened goodness?”

Salad jumped at the voice, and turned to see A.C sitting at a nearby table.

“Oh, hi A.C.,” Salad said. “Didn’t expect you to be here. What were you saying about that awakened...” they trailed off as they looked to the awakened stew, and the realisation set in.

They looked at their feet, hands in their pockets, then back to A.C.

“So, you were the one who ordered the... the, umm, awakened stew...”

“Yessir! I love me a good awakened stew. And Lunamor here makes only the best! I’m real glad I found my way back this place, as I’m famished!”

He eagerly watches as the stew is placed down in front of him. He picks up the napkin at his table, and quickly stuffs one corner into his shirt.

A collection of gears and wires walked into the restaurant. With a shriek of metal grinding past metal, it said, "Do you offer motor oil?"

Zeoy grinned. “I think I can stir you up somethin’ a little better than just that, sugar. I’m Zeoy. Drinkmaster in this joint.”

The metal object tilted its head-like appendage and said, "Regardless of your capabilities to 'stir something up', I require motor oil."

The bartender sighed. “Fine, fine.” She squatted down behind the counter and rifled through the shelves. “Coulda sworn I had a thing of- ah, here we go.” She stood up again and placed a container of gasoline before her. “This suit your fancy?”

The gears and wires contemplated the container, then poured it down what could be construed as a mouth. "Satisfactory," it told the bartender, "though slightly more flammable than my usual oil."

Zeoy folded her braceletted arms. “You are going to have to pay for that.”

A coin rolled out of what appeared to be an arm and fell onto the counter. "Is this sufficient payment?" it asked, the screeching in its voice much reduced.

Zeoy regarded the coin, pouting slightly. "I suppose so, for straight gasoline. Had you waited a hot second, I woulda been able to give ya somethin' with a bit more of a spark."

The automaton stared at the bartender, contemplating. Perhaps it could stay here for a moment and sample some of the provisions the restaurant had to offer. After a furious debate of pros and cons, it placed another coin on the counter and said, "I would like to try some of these 'sparks'."

Zeoy grinned. "Trust me sweetheart. This'll be worth it." With practiced tan hands, the feruchemist grabbed a glass from the shelves behind the bar and twirled it between her fingers, turning around and setting it on the back counter. She opened a large cabinet on the wall and ran her purple eyes across the unlabled bottles. "Let's see... no... no... Aha!" she exclaimed triumphantly. Zeoy selected a tall and thin glass with yellow liquid inside, along with a second, opaque bottle. After pouring a good bit of the yellow stuff into a small container, along with just two drops of the black liquid inside the second bottle, she put a lid on the container and shook it vigorously. When she opening it, the substance had turned green. "That's the stuff!" The bartender grabbed the original glass and the gasoline from the front counter. "Might wanna stand back, this part gets a bit... eh, well, you'll see."

Zeoy filled the glass halfway with gasoline, then took out a welding mask from beneath the counter and put it on, chuckling to herself a little bit. She leaned down so that the glass was at eye-level, then poured the green liquid she'd made carefully into the glass. Nothing happened.

At first.

A flame a foot high rose up from the glass, then settled down quite quickly. Once that was done, little sparks zapped from the now blue drink. Zeoy took off the welding mask, grinning. "Now that's a drink."

The automaton reached out and picked up the glass, bringing it to eye level. The electricity did not seem to be at dangerous levels, so it poured the liquid down its throat. The sparks were too weak to do anything but interrupt its current for a brief moment, and they seemed to charge its battery a little. A pleasant experience over all. "It was good," it said to the bartender.

A.C. pauses in awe, with a spoonful of stew halfway to his mouth.

Zeoy winked. "I should think so."

The automaton turned away from the counter and sat at an empty table. It needed to run several maintenance, and here was as good a place as any.
