"A whole lot of shaved coconut, lime, mango, and orange slices, sank into an infuser in the middle of a gallon container of what amounts to one of Calamity-Earth's margaritas, then that is shaken up and mixed into another gallon container of daiquiri and pina colada mix. Fair warning, payment is needed ahead of time for that due to the size and complexity."

“Sounds good,” Lusk said, putting an eighth of a bead of Atium down. “Good?”

Freedom glanced up at the man who'd sat down next to her, taking a sip from her still mostly full glass of water. For now he seemed mostly entertained by bothering the bartender. Judging from the limp he'd walked in with, she was sort of glad to not be the center of his focus.

He noticed the woman looking at him from the corner of his vision, and turned to face her. He looked at her drink. “Bit of an odd thing to drink at a bar. Afraid of alcohol?”

"Something like that," she said, mind flashing to one family reunion that had ended with Viness asleep in the front yard.

"I'll take it!" Malu swipes it off the bar and begins stacking ingredients on the cutting board behind the counter. The largest knife comes out of the block and whacks through a coconut in a single strike. The rest of the ingredients are carried into the back and Malu emerges five minutes later with a completed Mound in front of you. "Have fun with it!"

“Cheers,” Lusk said, taking a sip from the drink. It was good. Maybe he shouldn’t have been drinking, what with the liver failure. He made himself a bit younger, in his late twenties. He could handle the drink much better.

He turned to the woman again and sipped his drink. “Then, why would you be in a bar, of all places?” He resisted the urge to say more, the psychology of his age pushing on him.

Lita felt herself blush after her somewhat dramatic outburst, and she flopped into a seat at an empty table towards the fringes of the tavern, fretting. That new fellow's bead of atium got her attention, however, and she wasn't the only one. The bartender whisked it away with practiced ease.

As well he should, Lita thought. She extinguished her tin and immediately began filling her brassmind, grimacing as the familiar chill washed over her. She tugged her wrap closer, pushing her glasses further up her nose, and walked back to the bar.

"Alright," she said to the bartender, trying to keep her teeth from chattering. "I'd like to warm up from the inside out, now. Do you have any port?" @Invocation

"What kind of bar would I be if I didn't stock any port? I've got some from Scadrial, if you like," Malu said, taking a guess on the customer's heritage based on the reaction from what appeared to be the releasing of a brassmind.

Lita smiled gratefully. "Ooh, yes, please!" She placed a few more chrysts on the bar. "By the Survivor but I do miss Scadrian wine."

Spoiler

Makes him an expert bartender, knowing exactly when a sad, cold Twinborn needs some port asap!

"I've got some of that, too. Scadrial has such a developed bar culture that I was able to get some of just about all of it. Even got some good whiskey from my hometown, Weathering." Malu pours as he talks and puts a glass of port down. "Enjoy," he says, swiping the chrysts off the bar.

Lita took a sip of the port, and it was like wrapping her throat in a velvet cloak. "I think I'll be spending more time here, with port like this."

She walked back to the empty table and watched the two young people at the next table over. The man's drink truly was a "Mound," a fluffy, massive concoction that could likely get the whole tavern reeling drunk. If he had hoped the young woman would help him finish the drink, he seemed out of luck. The woman was nursing a glass of water and looked like one strong drink would put her under the table - let alone an entire bowl.

“Contact me when you get the chance. I’d love to study your powerset. When you’re ready, find Trident Tower. Tell ‘em Dwig sent you.” Johnny stared down at the card in his hand. Dwig. So that was Kidnapper Guy’s name. In his other hand he held the gemstone device. A promise for an ally if he ever needed it. He turned both items over in his hands, musing.

He sat on a plush foam bed with gold lining and silk sheets, a setup more luxurious then he was used too, but he was never going to reject now that he’d tried it. He highly doubted this kind of bed came with the room, looking around at the well-maintained but not lavish interior. It had a distinct “wood” theme about it, everything from the ceiling to the floor was made from some form of it. Not really the place for a gold-and-red silk bed.

Thousands of thoughts whirled through his mind at once.

Escape. Allies. Survive. Powers. Why, why, WHY?

Who to trust? What to do? What can I do? Do I dare do what I can?

I need to learn. I need to know. I need to start with my own self.

I have abilities. I need to know if I can even use them without... vague bad things happening.

I need to find someone to trust.

Maybe I need to start with Dwig.

Johnny lifted himself up from the bed. Orange sunlight streamed from the window. It couldn’t be evening already!? Have I slept that long? Or... how long have I just been sitting on that bed?

Johnny suddenly became aware of a strap in his hand. He looked down to find a large, sturdy backpack in his hand. Looking back at the small pile of things that he’d begun collecting, Johnny realized he’d been given exactly what he needed. He loaded up the more accessible parts of the pack with the items. The gemstone device. The slip of paper. A small bag containing a plethora of glowing gemstones—mostly red and blue ones. A flashlight. A sandwich wrapped in plastic. Those last three items appeared in Johnny’s hands while he was musing. He’d just set them aside until now. He stuck the taser in his pocket—best to keep his one weapon handy—and went downstairs.

He found the bartender—Malu, if the constant calls from the other people had any weight—and walked up to him. He put the bag of gemstones on the bar in front of him. “Could we... consider this a pre-payment on a new tab?”

“And, do you happen to have directions to the Trident Tower?”

Johnny blinked. That easy huh? He nodded with and embarrassed grin and started for the door. He paused, looked around for a bit, and turned back. “Business really picked up didn’t it?”

"Yes it did. I'm not complaining, though. Maybe eventually I'll get to add to this place."

“Well, I hope you do. With no small amount of luck, I’ll probably be here for lunch tomorrow, if I don’t make it back tonight. Well... bye.” Johnny gave a small awkward wave, and headed out the door. The might, marvel, and majesty of Alleycity greeted him beyond.

"I hope you have luck with that, I'll see you around." Zan said, then he walked over to where Malu was, "I like this place, if you need help with running it or anything like that just ask, I'll be back pretty soon." Zan walked out the door and into the city.

Laurelai lowered her hood as she stepped into the bar, her spikes were concealed to avoid unnecessary fights but even so she felt as if she was being watched. She scanned the room quickly but didn't see anyone looking back.

Just my imagination?

With a sigh she stepped up to the bar, pulling her blonde hair over her shoulder as she sat down.

"Another port here thanks." She said, adopting a noble-scadrian accent as best she could.

She took the drink, handing over payment to the bartender as she did so, taking a small sip first. She felt the smooth, oaky taste spread through her mouth before beginning to warm her entire body.

That's a lot better than I was expecting. She thought, turning atop her stool to regard the rest of the room. I might have to come here more regularly if they're serving that kind of quality.

Lita watched the newcomer enter and order a glass of port in what she assumed was the woman's best approximation of a Scadrian accent. She burned tin, examining the woman over the rims of her glasses.

Not the worst noble accent I've heard, Lita thought, sipping her port. But definitely not the best.

People usually overdid the nasal stuffiness of the upper classes, and mixed too much of the southern cities with the Basin accent. Too incongruous. Why this woman even wanted to appear to be Scadrian nobility was another question entirely. If you pretended to be important, people usually assumed you were important. Those kinds of lies were hard to maintain, after a while.

This is foolish, Lita thought, but she picked up her glass of port anyway and walked up to the blonde woman at the bar.

"My goodness but it's wonderful to meet another Scadrian so far from home," Lita gushed, swirling her port. @Voidus

Dwig came in, his characteristic good natured smirk on his face. He folded up his sunglasses and walked over to the bar. He had changed out of his nice clothing and now wore his duster and gunbelts.

"'Ello, again, barkeep." he said in a Roughs accent "I never did catch your name. I'll take whiskey, same vintage as last time."

As Lusk was talking to the 20 year old woman about why she didn’t have alcohol somebody appeared to recognise her. “Freedom?” Lusk asked. “Isn’t she a little kid?” Why anyone would mistake a 20 year old for a young child was behind him.

Lena stared at the stranger and then again at the person next to him. He was right, she looked older than Freedom should be. But that voice, her behaviour, well the age couldn't lie.

"I'm sorry, I misstook you. Obviously."

She finished her drink and rested her head in her hands for a moment. Then she gestured at the barkeep to bring her another one.
