It's almost another week, and still not one bite ...

Yeah, it's a bit slower at the moment, we have a smaller group and sometimes folks aren't able to critique right away. It will pick back up again sooner or later.

A slot for Monday 7/14/25?

Go for it! Any other takers?

I'm not doing so well here. I posted, but forgot to hit the Follow Topic slider. So I posted it again, but now I can't figure out how to delete the first one. Can that be done? Sorry to bug you again. Do you know where I can buy a good used hippocampus?

No worries, I went ahead and hid it for you. If it happens again, follow the directions detailed in our site policies:

Quote

Glitches will sometimes cause posts to directly duplicate. You may remove duplicate posts of yours by pressing the Hide button (next to Quote), or, if it is a duplicate topic, press Moderation Options at the top of the page, and hit Hide. If you see this on another user's post, please let us know if this is the case by reporting it.

Also I believe you can still follow a topic after posting it, same as following a topic that isn't yours. (The follow button in the top right)

Okay, thanks for letting me know. At my age, I can't promise to remember anything, though. And I don't have a big budget for spare brain parts ...

If I figure this out, I'll let you know as soon as I've got mine. 😅

Slot for 7/21, please? It doesn't look like there's a long line.

In fact, if no one else is posting, could I put up a short story, too? Maybe somebody will like a short story rather than trying to read a novel over several months.

I'd say let's stick within the 5k word count (not sure how long your short story is, but you could do both if it's within the word count). People may be using the lull to catch up.

I was hoping to find mine after the move, but so far no luck...

Okay, I'll just stick to TR. The short story is a spin off that takes place after the third book, so it might be best to save that one. Is your story about ready to submit?

It's out with a few other folks right now, I'm hoping to get feedback by around August and submit the next draft here. Hopefully by then I'll have wrapped up the last odds and ends from my move, too, and gotten Internet service sorted for my new place...

I was thinking that's a long time, but then I realized that it's almost August already. Einstein was right about time dilation, but you don't have to travel near the speed of light. You just have to have kids.

Monday again? 7/28/25. Am I all alone here?

It's been quieter than usual that's for sure! I finally have an ETA on Internet service at my home place and am generally hoping to get things settled and start catching up while I'm on vacation... hopefully some of our regulars dip back in soon too.

Hopefully we'll hear from you soon.

Have you read any of my submissions, or have you been too busy?

Unfortunately not yet, I have been pretty much underwater. I'll definitely start posting crits as soon as I get to read them!

Okay, 8/04/25? This one's a bit shorter, at around 3800 words. If I added another entry it would have gone up to 5300, so I'll save to for next time.

A few months back I drew some colored-pencil portraits of the six. They aren't great because I'm not much of an artist, but maybe people might want to see at least an approximate action of how I imagined them?

Yes, please go ahead! Sorry for the delay, I think this was posted after I'd already left the house that has internet for the night...

Hi @Silk is it too late to have a slot for this week? I'd like to either slot in this week or for next week if you think that would work better.

Thanks!

You're still an internet orphan? Major bummer, dude!

Wow, sorry, I totally missed this! This Monday for sure.

I finally got my Internet as of Wednesday! I went through a reseller (cheaper and I don't have to deal with the absolutely dismal customer service of the big two) which is why it took a little longer to get organized. But, I have Internet and furniture now!

Still lots to do around the house, and I'm sort of dreading the end of my vacation next week, but hopefully things start calming down a little now...

Cool beans! Sometimes furniture can be overrated, though, if it takes up space for books.

I just found out that there is a Japanese word for buying books that you will never end up reading -- tsundoku, as in, my garage is packed with boxes of tsundoku.

Tomorrow is another Monday. I would like to post, but absolutely no one has commented on my last one. It's feeling like a bust.
