For the summaries: I'd suggest to spread it out over as much people as possible, and since many have volunteered I think that should work.

For the summary thread: what do you think of this: everybody that is responsible for a thread makes a post with all of his/ her threads. Maybe a one sentence summary below the name. (E.g. City of Oasis - A city ruled by the Ghostbloods, their headquater). Then we add the longer summary below behind a spoiler tag. When we update the summary, we edit our post.

Why? It makes it easy to navigate the summaries and gives newer member a quick overview over all active threads, without having to comb through pages of old summaries and without having to scroll through summaries. Instead you can read what you are interested in. Finished threads I would suggest we add something behind the name like ("closed"/ "finished"/ ...).

Yep this is what I was thinking of too, then I can add a table of contents at the top and link to whichever post contains the summary, should be even easier to navigate then.

Are we making a thread to discuss planning?

Let's do planning in this one. I expect there will be overlap with the Guild one, but it's a smallish thing.

Back to the summaries. I updated @Ookla the Lurker 's list with those volunteering so far. And added the Citadel and the Alleyzon thread.

Anybody would like to take over the Hospital? That one's still missing someone to look after.

A general question: When do we want to start this? I think maybe updating our summaries  around once a week, might be a good rhythm, so that something has happened in the thread. Depends a bit on thread though.

Other side of the world: @Kidpen (read Ark!!)
The Forge: @Sorana
WoD: @Ookla the Lurker
Alley: @Ookla the Lurker
The Great Game: @Darth Woodrack
Investiture for a Better Life Foundation: @Sorana
Einladung Hospital: ?
Mountain of the Gods: @Ookla the Lurker
Metamorphosis: Rise of villainy: @Ookla the Libre
City of Oasis: @Kidpen (read Ark!!!)
The Citadel: @Darth Woodrack
Alleyzon: @Sorana

Planning what?

We have threads for power level, end of era, and guilds. Everything else is planned here, yes,

Posted (edited)

For the record, here are the final poll results:

Quote

Should we include sci fi elements in the Alleyverse?

Yes: 13.

No: 13

Should we allow power creep in the Alleyverse (Increase the average power level)

Yes: 9

No: 17

Should people accept the DAs cookies in the Alleyverse?

Yes, of course: 15
Absolutely! DA cookies are amazing!: 113
No, I'm a crazy person who hates cookies: 8

I'm only allowed 3 questions per poll, and we have a lot of questions to vote on, so I'm replacing the questions with new ones. Please also vote on the questions posed in the Guild Reform poll. Thank-you!

12/10/18 EDIT: New questions are up! This thread's polls are being used to ask about stuff that was discussed in the Guild Reform thread, but I didn't have room to ask there. We have a lot of questions to cover.

I think that I miss answered, so I am just going to vote here:

  1. No, it should not
  2. They should decide, as if they plan in public all intrigue is gone.
  3. Yes, of course. It's longstanding.

Also, the Sci-Fi vote had moved into a tie, so removing it was premature.

What is, ahem, Warhammer 40k technology?

Space marines.

For the past week, it had been at a tie (25-25, then 26-26). Based on previous participation in polls, I did not foresee any new votes being cast in the near future. And since the RPers are evenly split on the issue, it would be advisable to talk about it some more so we can come to a stronger group consensus. The saying goes that the best compromises are when everyone walks away unhappy, but this is RP is based on having fun. I'd rather see greater margins of victory than 50% plus one, lest undo tension be created. If a proposal can only win by one vote, it could be improved upon. That's what I'd prefer to do with tight races.

Also, thank you for your votes. If you tell me what your original votes were (so they can be removed), I can edit the results at the end.

Question. Will MtG characters be allowed?

I know absolutely nothing about Magic: the Gathering. But the premise of the Alleyverse is that characters from everything Brandon is written, so in my opinion it would make sense to permit the inclusion of elements from Children of the Nameless. I have yet to read that story though (So please, nobody spoil it!).

Umm having played magic the gathering and having read a lot of the lore I would say that no they should not be allowed because they have no rules related to how they work. They weren't designed for an RPG and the magic that the character's use has virtually no rules.

From a objective stand point, I do agree with Mac. I love MTG and think that it is awesome, and their are some rules, but nowhere near enough. We would have to limit it to a few basic magics, and remove an entire section of the magic(mind control) to make it work. From a, 'how to have more fun', standpoint, I think that it should be allowed, but very limited. So, no planeswalkers, no dragons, no gods, no demons, no hellions, no eldrazi titans, and no vampire lords. We could still have things such as weak pyromancers, basic necromancer, weak land mages, and most importantly, vampires!, but we shouldn't have anyone become Nicol Bolas.

Side lore: The Eternal were my inspiration for the super lifless, and until I understood how op hellbent was, I intended to have everyone fight Dusk. This was before I understood the alleyverse, and I wanted to make Dusk essentially an elder dragon.

I agree that MTG charecters would not work well in this setting.  Many of the powers arn't that far off of what the shards can do... so in a sense, if we wanted a planeswalker in the game, just give them their own singularity. (Waaaiiiit, we should ask Brandon how much investiture is required to form a singularity... has someone asked that?)

I mean, the very low level powers could work, like the ability to shoot fire out of your hands, or being a vampire, because if we really wanted to, you could be a pyromancer epic.
