If that's the deal, then we need two people who are willing to give up any other actions this turn for the good of the group. There's one thing I want to check before I drop my vote though. @Orlok Tsubodai, does a successful 'gamble' action just flag their current win-con as 'completed', or does it also adjust the state of the game to reflect that completion? Say Szeth gets the win-con to kill Gavilar, and he decides to use the Gamble action and succeeds. Would Gavilar still die as a result of the action? PAFO.

Cream Tuatara Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Navani Kholin stood up and raised her voice. She was stressed beyond belief, but obviously she would never show that. "Excuse me. With all this talk of murder and ostracization, this party is turning quite grim indeed. I do not have much to say about Amaram, since he seems devout to his gambles and I trust him for that. Rather, I have come to extend a hand to anyone who would want to help me achieve my own goal. "You see, while some are going around killing people, I just have to Study. However, it requires somebody particularly qualified to Cooperatewoth me. Would anyone like to volunteer to help me if they are not preoccupied? I will promise to be of assistance to anyone who does." Quote My Wincon's to study an object with unknown uses when I'm working with someone qualified. Objects with unknown uses include the Black Sphere, Broken Soulcaster, Noise Fabrial as well as some others I've heard around. I believe I need the object before I can study it. This could be incredibly helpful for the wellbeing of the party. If we can figure out the use of something such as this Black Sphere or Broken Soulcaster, we could solve the mystery of why it is wanted, and perhaps use it to keep the peace of the party, as well as solve our mysteries of the game. Of course, it says I need someone qualified to help me. It has a baseline success rate of 40%, so with one other qualified (whatever that means) person we have a pretty good chance of figuring it out. Anyone willing to sacrifice an action for the greater good?

Orlok Tsubodai Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Amaram was ostracised. Liss returned from ostracism. Gavilar was killed. As a consequence of this, Wilson and I have a significant amount of work to do. The game will resume in just under 23 hours time, once we've organised the consequences. I hope you'll appreciate the wait. PMs are no longer open, as the Guards are not permitting private communications. PMs sent from now will result in deductions to success chances. Docs remain open. 2

Ivory Dragonfly Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 The celebration should have been cancelled hours ago, when the first murder was reported. Indigo Weasel Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Someone had killed the king. Why had someone killed the king? These humans have gone completely insane! Ivory couldn't think why any of the humans would...well that wasn't quite correct. There where several reasons why one human might want to kill a different, more successful human, and if the rumors that king Gavilar had been involved with the sons of Honor then he was definitely toying with powers beyond his ken. But even then, killing him would only turn him into a martyr. The Black Sphere. It was the only motive that made sense. damnation it all to Braize! If that had been the reason for Gavilars murder, then he could only hope that whoever wanted it was just after a pretty gem. Quote Gavilar had PM'd me last cycle to ask whether I'd consider myself qualified to study the black sphere. Given the win-con Navani claimed to have, I'd say Gavilar's win-con at the time was to study the sphere. Based on that, I'd say he was at least 2 completed win-cons away from scaring the Parshendi into trying to kill him. The problem is that I'm having a hard time figuring out why anyone else would want him dead, apart from doing it as a method of acquiring the sphere. There have been a couple of 'accidental' kills because of redirections. If that's the case here, I'd like it if the relevant person claimed.
little wilson she/her Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 LG49/AN3: Hour 6.5 - Engaged in Treason As you all know, Gavilar is dead! Charcoal Hyena Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Oorp:My Wincon to kill has been achieved don’t worry Ivory Rp: As the guards brought Amaram back in, he saw the body. No, it couldn’t be him. How had he been killed. What of their plans, of the sons? What of the coming doom? As the guards let him go, he simply took a seat on the floor, letting the shock reel over him.
Cream Tuatara Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Quote That comic, it's... beautiful. "The King is dead!" Navani swiftly turned her head at the announcer and came to see what all the fuss was about. Gavilar, dead? It couldn't be. It wasn't. Yes, Navami shouldn't have gotten ahead of herself. This was simple drama, something to keep all the Birghtlords and Brightnesses here entertained. Gavilar couldn't possibly have died. Yes, it made more sense to Navani the more she thought it through. Yes, her husband was not an easy man to kill. He had his Plate and was one of the finest warriors with Blade. Not to mention the Cobalt guard. As Navani pushed through the crowd she saw the body. Gavilar's body. Stabbed in the back, his crown upturned beside him. He was dead. A small congregation of people separated as Navani kneeled by her dead husband. They'd had so many good times together. They'd loved each other. They'd raised two wonderful children. She thought about them, wondered how they would feel. Oh, poor Jasnah, and poor Elhokar. They would never again see their father. Navani wondered whether to cry. She felt like crying, felt like collapsing next to Gavilar and weeping. She felt the tears emerge, but she stopped them. Now was not the time for crying. She could cry at the funeral, it would be acceptable there. Now, Navani had to show the party that even while Gavilar was dead, order still remained. She had to set an example. "Brightlords and Brightnesses!" Navani called, actively trying to keep her voice from quivering any further. "It is true King Gavilar is dead! He was great, and we will mourn his loss, but for now we need to find out who is the culprit!" She looked to the Parshendi. "This is a peace treaty, and yet our King dies the same night we welcome you into the palace. What is this nonsense." She looked at the Cobalt Guard, at Tearim in particular. "Your job is to protect the King! How could you slip?" She looked at everyone else, the diplomats and servants who seemed to blend into the background. "You all are everywhere in the palace! Could you not see something?" She looked to the Shin man, his eyes not showing even a shred of emotion. She stared at him longer than the rest. "We must find the murderer." She said, slowly, and resolutely. Quote Alright, but honestly, who the storm killed Gavilar? Last cycle, I studied the Black Sphere with Jasnah and Gavilar. That's my Alibi. I highly recommend everyone to give theirs. Those who do not are considered suspect. 1
Sage Kangaroo Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I ordered Szeth to team with Venli to protect me. This action was successful, so that means Szeth and Venli are innocent.
Cream Tuatara Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Quote Thank you, Klade. Now, excluding all those who were dead and have an alibi, I have made a list of suspects. This list is large, but hopefully it will get smaller as more people say their alibis. Note: I am including ostracised people in this list as well. It has been proven through Liss PMing people last cycle that they can affect the party. Now, the list. These people are in no particular order. Dalinar Tearim Ialai Ivory Elhokar Aesudan Adolin Wit Liss Beggar Ash Darkness Kelek Eshonai Klade Thaidakar Hopefully, as more and more people are cleared we can narrow down the killer.
Mint Heron Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 "I targeted Gavilar to redirect his action to Amaram to complete a part of my win condition. It didn't even work."
Sapphire Elephant Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, stared at the dead body of a king in shock. Gavilar's body lay slumped to the side, his crown fallen from his head. A pool of blood congealed under him, still fresh. Szeth sighed. He'd expected the newly-forged Alethkar to have currents of unrest simmering below the surface -- but the assassination of the king who had united it? He hadn't expected Alethkar to destabilize so quickly. Would Gavilar's heir be able to hold his father's conquests? The partygoers clustered around the edge of Gavilar's body, murmuring uneasily. Navani stared at Szeth with an accusation in her eyes. Szeth stared back impassively. What reason would he have to kill Gavilar? He'd been ordered to protect his masters, not that he would say that. Even if it might defuse the tension. Although...Szeth thought back to his last set of orders. He was to ensure the treaty-signing party ran smoothly, helping the servants where necessary. In the past few hours, he'd been ordered to protect the Parshendi dignitaries to hopefully salvage whatever was left of the party as possible. Surely he could talk in order to further that goal. In fact, he was compelled to, if it would help his masters. Szeth cleared his throat. He'd been a passable orator when younger, but he doubted that he had any of his previous skill left. "Brightlady Navani, the Parshendi had no reason to kill Gavilar. They signed a treaty to achieve peace with the humans they have found. Why then turn around and kill the biggest supporter of the peace treaty they had? The Parshendi know they cannot stand up to Alethkar's military might." He cleared his throat again. His voice sounded rougher than he remembered -- when was the last time he had said this many words? "In all my time observing the Parshendi, they have appeared a calm, rational people." Szeth spread his hands out in supplication. "The Parshendi would never attack anybody like this, unless as an act of self-preservation. They have spent the last few hours protecting each other, and no attempts have been made on their lives. Please, believe me. The Parshendi and I did not do this."
Onyx Flamingo Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 As Liss was escorted back into the hall, there was a group of people mumbling to each other blocking the way. Liss couldn't see what the hold up was from here. She looked at Darkness inquisitively, he shrugged as he also couldn't see what was going on. Liss ducked behind the guards and ran through the maze of corridors until she made her way back to the hall through the servant's door. She looked around the hall for whatever was so disturbing to the guests. She saw 1... no, 2... no, many (don't want to count everyone that has been killed since my ostracisation). Liss then saw Navani reading from a list at the head table in front of her. Liss snuck up behind her to read over her shoulder, and her stomach fell. The title was, "Suspects in Gavilar Kholin's murder". And Liss's name was on it. As Liss' cover was apparently blown, she slowly moved towards the other guests. She didn't want anyone to think she was making a run for it, or that she was trying to kill anyone. Quote Hmm, Navani, I think you may have forgotten a couple names on your list... 1. @SE_Meridas_Amaram, I personally think Meridas is unlikely, but I would wait until he gives his alibi before I give him one. 2. @SE_Jasnah_Kholin, This is someone I would personally not like to bring into the limelight of this issue, however, I just wanted to point out, you didn't include her. 3. @SE_Navani_Kholin, Just because you are Gavilar's Queen, doesn't mean you are not a suspect. I would appreciate an alibi from you as well. As for mine, I was ostracised. I did make it clear that Ostracised players do have actions of a sort available to them. However, they require multiple people to vote on them. Nale was with me, and as I would have no motivation to attack Gavilar, and Nale would find it unjust, niether of us would do it. Even if I did have motivation, the fact that Nale would have found it unjust would mean that I couldn't attack him. (anyway, the only action we had available to us last turn was to vote for a player to be let back into the palace. Nale can confirm everything I just said.) So, That should have cleared both Nale and myself. Remade suspect list: Spoiler Dalinar Kholin Meridas Amaram Tearim Navani Kholin Ialai Sadeas Jasnah Kholin Ivory Elhokar Kholin Aesudan Kholin Adolin Kholin Wit Drunk Beggar Ash Kelek Eshonai Klade and Thaidakar is one of the dead. 1
Pearl Chameleon Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) As Nale strode through the palace corridors, he saw a bloody sheet over what was presumably yet another dead body. If the Alethi keep up at this rate, they may end up doing my job for me and cleaning up this whole mess themselves. Nale had heard whispers of the death of Renarin in the Palace Grounds, so seeing the Kholins standing around in shock didn't immediately tip him off. Still, the party seemed to be in a strange amount of disarray - even with the previous deaths, there had been someone to step in to maintain the peace. Where's Gavilar? He should be... oh. Oh dear. Nale strode forward to get a better look at the bloodied sheet "Hey! No touching! You could be tampering with the evidence!" one of the guards shouted, fumbling at his sword. "I commend you for your duty, but I assure you I would not tamper with a crime scene. I wasn't... in the palace at the time the crime occurred", Nale said, not letting any of the bitterness creep into his voice at that last part. "anyone here can verify that I have possibly the most ironclad alibi of anyone in this room, including you. As such, I'll do my best to try and investigate this crime to the best of my ability, and report the findings accordingly." The guard paused. "That will be all, thankyou. Continue to keep an eye on the body, and make sure nobody tampers with the evidence." The guard gave him a puzzled look, then eventually nodded. "Yes... sir?" Nale walked back towards the edge of the feast hall, and glanced about the room. All these people, each of them hiding their own dirty little secrets. Whoever it was that murdered Gavilar Kholin, I will find you. That is a promise. Quote If I were going with OOG information from the book, I'd still be most suspicious of the Klade, Venli, Szeth bloc, since all three of them were complicit in the assassination in the books - if anyone Action Spied them and can confirm or deny this, I'd greatly appreciate it (also, a note: I believe how successful actions work is that if a player doesn't participate, it reduces the success chance of an action, but doesn't automatically fail it. So even if Klade is telling the truth, I don't believe that clears Szeth or Venli). However, I'm deliberately trying to separate my in game knowledge from my OOG knowledge, so I don't plan on trying to ostracise them or take any other kind of action against them without some kind of in game proof, or at least a reasonable suspicion based on their words.
