Ishar
So a little while ago I saw (I believe in the Favorite Cosmere Characters thread) how people where talking about how under appreciated Taln was after suffering torture for 4600 years. This made me wonder what other under appreciated cosmere characters there are out there, cause there almost definitely are some more. Please just post what character you think is the most under appreciated character in the cosmere and why. Even if you pick a character who is well known for some things, but you think also did other things that they character is under appreciated for. In my opinion, the most under appreciated character in the Cosmere is Leras/Preservation. The reason follows in this spoiler tag containing spoilers for MB, and MBSH Spoiler The reason for this, and although I don't know how much of what happened in Mistborn was just plain old dumb luck (Sazed suggests that some of it certainly was, specifically which people where involved), but there are several instances that suggest that Leras planned the greater amount of the events that occurred in Mistborn. The most obvious of these instances is the Terris Prophecy, and I don't think I need to explain much there, because even though the prophecy was manipulated by Ati, it predicated the events that would occur in HOtA. Another instance that does suggest it was all part of his plan was in Secret History when talking to Kelsier Fuzz says that he had a plan, but couldn't quite remember it, suggesting that before Preservation was coming close to shattering, he did plan everything. Lastly, and I think most importantly, was what Vin realized when Elend died and she was killing Ati, saying something along the lines of how it was always Preservation's plan when he created humanity because he needed something that could kill to protect. (and thinking about that it sounds a lot like Kelsier, also, I would give exact quotes, but I don't have the books with me right now. I will try to edit it in when I get the chance) Side note: I wasn't really sure whether this belonged in Cosmere discussion or in General Brandon. If the mods feel that it needs to be moved to Cosmere discussion please do. Edited July 29, 2018 by Ishar
Toaster Retribution he/him
Under-appreciated characters? Amaram is one. He is more complex than he is given credit for, and could have used more page-time than he got. Dockson is another one. He was a good character, but no one ever really talks of him. Mraize is also a bit under-appreciated. He is part crime boss, part worldhopper, part spy, part warrior, and has a collection of what might be magical gadgets from all around the Cosmere. How is he not the coolest guy in Stormlight?

StrikerEZ he/him
Stick. In all seriousness, I think Shallan is super underrated. Despite her...problems in OB, I think she is definitely a really awesome character. I can definitely relate with her on many levels, though I'm not quite as bad as her.
Ashspren
I think Adolin is one of the most underrated characters. He’s a shoulder to lean on for a lot of people in the Stormlight Archive. A lot of readers say that he’s “useless,” but I personally believe that so many characters have become better people because of him. Others also claim that he doesn’t have enough personal problems to be an interesting character, but I find that he’s just able to shoulder them, and put others before himself. I’m not going too into detail for the sake of spoilers, but people who have read SA know that Adolin is slowly fading in the eyes of society because of what others are becoming. Instead of throwing a fit and becoming resentful, he’s helping them with becoming who they need to be. Edited July 29, 2018 by Ashspren

BrightnessSamantha she/her
I think Rysn in SA is pretty undervalued. I always loved her interludes and I hope her and her little Larkin, Chiri Chiri, are featured more in the books to come! I even think she could become a radiant too! BitBitio he/him
You know who deserves some serious credit? Vivenna. A lot of people just don't like her but she really tries hard.
Wyndlerunner he/him
Kiin from Elantris. He takes in his niece despite his estrangement with her father, and is a genuinely good man. (and an awesome chef)

I disagree with this one mainly because I think Rysn will definitely end up playing a much larger role in Stormlight then she currently does. Edit: Looking back through, I actually agree with the thing about most of Kelsier's crew, and being that I originally forgot them, it shows how under appreciated they are. goody153
Since Taln is already mentioned I think Marasi and Tindwyl. Marasi because i think she's a well-made character enough in terms of development and her role. I don't actually think i had difficulty reading her parts but she gets overshadowed by Wayne or Steris. Tindwyl since while she seems treated like a plotdevice for Elend and Sazed. It never felt that way when i read WoA. She was a welcome addition to WoA(unlike that other unwelcome addition that creepy mistborn stalker) that she was a balanced character. Special Mention: GodKings Priests from Warbreaker. Say what you want about them but they're surely dedicated and none of them didn't succumb to greediness at all despite having access to the arguably most powerful stuff in Nalthais at that current time. They're quite competent at ruling to some sense too. Edited July 30, 2018 by goody153

Everyone (including me) loves Taln, and thinks that he is the greatest person in the Cosmere. Speaking of Elantris, I agree with Kiin. I think Lukel was cool as well.

I definitly agree. Shai still holds the spot of my favourite char. Her character and her reactions were so beautifully crafted. And the bloodsealer was really cool as well. In addition to the General "Kelsiers Crew" I want to put the spotlight on Breeze. How he worked with his soothers, how his whole apperance was a deception meant to manipulate. He's a genius imo. Wyndlerunner he/him
Also, The Lord Ruler is pretty underappreciated. He didn't always make the best choices, but he tried his best to keep the world safe from Ruin. Ex: the storage caverns, the Atium Trust. Both incredibly smart moves. Yeah, and for that matter, Ati/Ruin. The guy was just following his Shardic directive, then got snookered by a lifelong friend into entering into a deal that Leras immediately moved to renege on, and in a way that could only end with both of them dead. It wasn't Ati's idea to create Scadrial, no, it was Leras who came to him with the idea, promised him that he'd get what he wanted out of the deal in the end and they could both walk away, and then BAM! Not cool, bro.
Toaster Retribution he/him
Leras was kind of a douche. I like Ruin though. He is by far and away the best Shard out of the ones we have seen. The very idea of using the concept of ending as a villain in the final book of a trilogy is brilliant.
