Malevolence let out a cry of pain as the air hit him, overwhelming his shields and searing the flesh of the arm he used to shield his face. He teleported away a moment later, appearing next to Atreides to begin their conversation.

Malevolence blinked in shock. "Wha-" He attempted to activate his teleporter, but it failed, displaying an error message in his . Malevolence cursed. "Shielded, I see." He said in an annoyed tone. He turned to face the Guardian. "Plot Significance? A dangerous Blade indeed. Particularly to me." He eyed it speculatively. "I wonder what would happen if it were turned against Rebus? Very well." Malevolence stepped forward, swinging Darkseeker vertically, slamming it into the ground to send a shockwave of darkness towards the Guardian. "I will have to let the little Narrators be, for now."

"Of course. Take the time you need."

That's his own particular branch of the Mindscape. The others can do it, but Dark Cep is skilled at it. Speaking of, what would hurt Rebus the most here?

"I suspect I shall." Rebus said. "It broke last time, after all."

Inkwell completely ignores the invitation and spits in Rebus’ face, then licks his lips and whispers one word.

”Brisingr.”

Never mind he had wanted to do this all his life, but when black fire ignited in Rebus’ hair, dripping down his cheeks, on his eyes… Inkwell smiled with black-stained teeth. Fun. He drew Futility and prepared for the onslaught.

The spit halted in the air. The fire, on the other hand, did not. Rebus grinned back, the flames shining black reflections on his teeth, turning them almost the mirror image of Inkwell's. "Garjzla," he quipped, drawing a cylindrical device so fast that it seemed to appear in his hand. It appeared to be an ordinary flashlight - until it turned on, unleashing a beam of radiance so bright the air ionized and exploded out of the way. The would be a mere instant between the first glimpse of light and when Inkwell stopped being biology and started being physics.

Inkwell doesn’t need the author to sugarcoat it anymore. It’s time.

He casually twirls Futility in an arc, creating an array of rifts that catches Rebus’ light, funnels it through another realm, and blasts it out at Atreides as he appears nearby.

Nothing comes easy, Inkwell thinks. The unnecessary musical reference grants him a little confidence as he swipes the pen across the sky, creating another Rift behind Atreides that catches him and drops him into the Premier Inn, a liminal space full of white void and doors, where time never begins, and conveniently, he cannot escape until after Inkwell and Rebus conclude their battle.

If you can’t tell, which I would understand, Inkwells powers come from an amalgamation of references, musical, literary, cinematic, etc.
