It sat there for a moment, doing absolutely nothing. Then an arm reached out from the hat and reached in, pulling out its shoulder, then its torso, two legs, the other arm, and finally a grinning head. Reality jolted, the very world rotating around on its axis, only the man from the hat remaining stationary. The hat dropped cleanly onto his head, and Meat the Minstrel played a chord on his bread, fully upside-down. Ketchup began to bleed from his eyes, running up his cheeks and dripping to the ground. This was unequivocally the man Rebus was seeking. "Excellent." Omen said. "Meat, please interpret for me. What does Mischief want?" 59 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: "That should be our next quest." Jack said. "We go to a normal store, buy you a normal journal, and pay with normal money. No crazy mall men will be involved, and once we finish we can go back to finding the meaning of life." "That sounds an excellent idea." Said Lyric. "Shall we go find ourselves such a store?" 59 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: That's the best reference I can find quickly - it's from a PM. Actually, you're in said PM (Time Shenanigans). But yeah, I agree that ban is a very strong word for "prefer ". Oh, yeah. Inkwell is a 17 year old guy, in school, on an irrelevant planet in a fake Cosmere inside of a non canon Frugal Wizard universe. His world has sort of a reverse Nightmare Painter magic, where people can steal the actual souls of objects they paint, binding the physical body into the picture and releasing the drawing as a shadowy figure that the painter can control. This is completely a secret, until Inkwell borrows his friend’s pen in class, the magical device which she, as a master of the literal Dark Arts, relies on to use her magic. He forgets to return it, and later, she is killed by a rival Dark Artist. Now Inkwell is stuck with a pen with the power to create shadow demons in his reality, with the bonus power of being able to rewrite realities downstream from it, though he doesn’t know about that part.
