Inkwell is still irritated by the functionality of the knife. She is so unfazed… The cocoa starts bubbling softly at the edges, so he gets up and pours into a few mugs before the milk can separate.

Eden raises her withered, blackened claw of a hand. “How is this better than where you came from? Girl, which pit of hell did you drag yourself out of?”

——

Sanguine has expended all his talking energy, and the whiplash from Egis’s narration shocks him. Then he adapts, cutting straight through the prismite field and allowing himself to be touched by gravity. His form gathers particles from the atmosphere, weaving them together to create a shell around his core body as he burns through the air like a meteorite. @Keke@Ashkaloda

My understanding is that Narration doesn’t create fields of Prismite, it utilizes the Prismite gathered in a Narrator’s core to achieve the desired effect.

But what else do you call forcing Malevolence to take up Redemption?” He pours a mug of hot chocolate for Rebus.

Sanguine roars in anger, trying to reenter the building, but a force stops him. This shouldn’t be possible. He wasn’t a force of the Thread, its forces couldn’t affect him!
Yet there were some things even someone like him couldn’t toy with. He growled and turned to Egis, ready to strike before a single word or laugh could leave her throat. @Ashkaloda

She glanced at him as his strike phased straight through her. Egis hesitated briefly, then the scene around Sanguine rippled, clearing to reveal a rather mundane living room. If Sanguine tried to move, he would find that he could move in place, but not relative to his surroundings. He felt multiple layers of power wash over him, though they seemingly had no effect. Egis stalked closer to him and folded her arms across her chest. Oddly, the footsteps sounded as if they were coming from a distance behind him. “You don’t understand, do you? I’m a god. I can do anything I want to you. My mercy is the only reason you still remain alive. If I were you, I would be hesitant to test it.” As she spoke, Egis’s voice seemed to orbit about Sanguine’s head.

Jack was worried because Lyric seemed worried, though he couldn’t tell why. Still, maybe these priests of Plot could help. “If that will help,” he said. He resolved to sing along with Lyric - the man seemed to need it.

You are no withergeist, with power over darkness. The Witherlord whispered. You are a blade, a slayer of Narrators. You shall be a spy, taking what form you will, hiding your true self from all senses. You shall strike from the shadows, and slay those whom I command.

“No, it will not.” The Dreamsmith said with a sigh. “The Luxite is from this world, delved from a memory of distant days. In the world of the living, it could only ever be a dream, a shadow of itself. And dreams cannot stop the Witherlord.”

He paused. “However… another tool I made would be up to the task.”

“Yes, it will of course. How else would we find our way?” Lyric looked to the sky. “Yes… to the sky, a temple of stone would be clearly visible.” Recovering some composure, he began a song.

Dark armor donned Charnaster as he transformed into his Dark Form, with long streaming tendrils of nebula materializing off of his body. Spikes of void-like material formed as Charnaster's body became a proper, four legged dragon.

He let out a howl, and then landed directly across from the Witherlord, staring directly into him.

Both can be true. Narration requires a Narrator core’s Prismite, but does involve projecting power outside oneself. There is also Chaotic Light around the Thread - that’s how Narrators regain power, and directing it makes them have more reach than they would otherwise.
That’s what I think, at least - the nice thing about the Thread is that canon is what we decide it to be.

“A Luxite weapon… such a thing has long been sought after.” The Dreamsmith looked long at Rebus. Eventually, he seemed to come to a decision. Reaching to a workbench beside him, he tossed a four-pointed medallion to Rebus. “Take this. It is real, entrusted to me by Subversion. It is a creation of Nameless, a converter made with fragments of each of the four powers. He obtained a small amount of Luxite from the skeins, Ordered-light entities who survived the Dies Luxfrang.” The Dreamsmith grimaced. “It is… inefficient. The whole of the Prismite from a Narrator’s core would not create enough Luxite for a blade, and from my experience the other metals are even more inefficient. But it will, I think, be more efficient than your own attempts, working with those who can manipulate only two of the four powers. And perhaps you can discover more of its workings than I. Your discovery of Ordered Chaos was certainly… surprising to me.”

The Dreamsmith held up a letter, handing it to Rebus as well. “Take this letter to Onyx, if you would. I… hope that its contents bring him some comfort. Within that letter, I hope, is the secret to the Witherlord’s destruction.”

Lyric walked through the forest, singing his song. He sounded more subdued than other times they’d travelled, and a troubled expression dwelt on his face.

Eventually, the pair came to a city.

the way I understand it the entire world is made of prismite and the cores of a narrator are used to impose the will of tha narrator onto the worlds prismite. Taking this from xinoehps blog. What he was doing was collapsing space in a way to create a bubble that was not formed of prismite, and therefore couldn’t be influenced by Narration.

Quote

Prismite is the substance that forms the matter of the world. Each dream crystal contains within it its own world, known as a dreamscape. Dream artists manipulate this dreamscape- consciously or unconsciously - and then project it onto the prismite of reality. The most powerful examples of this are the Narrators, who dictate whatever they desire.

He is very very strong against fundamental materials and brute strength. You can destroy his form temporarily with something like a Plotblade, but he’ll just make a new one since his soul exists outside of TLT, or you can do trickery and mental magic which he would be more weak to.

As the particles dispersed, Sanguine found that they were all moving in entirely different directions than he thought they would. He got the sense that they were traveling farther and closer and in every which direction in an entirely different manner. The few that did make it to Egis found it to be impossible to interact with her, but curiously, some random ones in entirely different places would occasionally run into her, he could sense. The specter of Egis looks unperturbed. She raises her hands, and Sanguine feels a burning sensation move through him.

Would you care to remind me what happened to the Author-Killing Blade?

Rebus - or rather the as-of-yet unnamed clone of him - stabbed the syringe into his hand, right in the center of the burn scar. Nothing happened, of course.
-

Rebus nodded. “Good. We’re going to need a weapon against the Witherlord - Mordite won’t work on him.”

Rebus saluted back, smiling. Jack snapped away, reappearing in Kimo as requested.

Jack also blinked. “Wait, deities? Shouldn’t we be trying to give one, then?”

I may or may not be deflecting the question because I haven’t thought of a name yet…

-

The clone cried out, his nanomachines - themselves succumbing to corruption - disabling pain receptors and weaving Mordite into flesh at a molecular level. Rebus had done this before, after all - though it hadn’t been with Chaotic Darkness. The clone fell to his knees, Mordite perforating every available surface.

Atlas having disappeared, Rebus stood alone before the Witherlord. This was not a situation he wished to be in. “Eventually?” He sounded almost sheepish. “I would rather like to avoid the Thread’s destruction, considering I live here.”
-

 @Aeoryi

One mysterious bargain later, Rebus stepped out from the back of the workshop. He seemed less vibrant than usual - eyes devoid of reflection, no sign of residual Narration. He was, however, still smiling. “Hello, Ribbon. My condolences about your passing.”

“It would be very difficult. Narrators, specifically are not allowed out due to the problems that would result - though your home would be one of the most compatible.”

Rebus… nodded. “Yes. Until the Witherlord has been defeated, you may very well need the Blade. We can wait.”

Another man, also in a mask and longcoat, appeared nearby with a muffled crack. This wasn’t entirely where he wanted to be, but I had been enough. This new strange man watched the first one, waiting to see if he was noticed.

And then Rebus appeared, Narrationblade in hand, coat fluttering as he stepped between Atlas and Fog. The sword wasn’t the only weapon he’d brought - nanomachines absolutely filled the air. “Mordite is a tool, Fog. It’s deadly-” a figure materialized next to Rebus, visible for only a moment before the sonic boom- “but there are other options.”
I’ll leave a moment for Fog to respond before the hypersonic robot hits her.

"My Plotblade's name?" Charnaster laughed. "If I were to even merely think of it, the entire blade would reform itself, creating a new, unknown version of itself. Perhaps with different powers, different properties, hmmm? Perhaps one of those properties is to rip through plot armor?"

"I offer you one thing, and that is-"

It was at that moment that Magenta came out of nowhere, flying in and crunching down on the Witherlord. Purple lightning streaking through his skull as he bit down as hard as he could against the literal Witherlord.

A dark mass burst from the Witherlord's blade, sprouting tentacles that wrapped around Magenta's jaws, forcing them apart. The Witherlord stepped forward, sheathing Malevolence.

"I came here because you offered me a Plotblade. Well, I see that you will not give it to me." A tear in reality opened in front of the Witherlord, and he walked to it. "I see no purpose in carrying out a long and annoying battle here. But worry not. If you wish to contest with darkness, I will allow it." He gestured towards towards Magenta, whose body was now wrapped entirely in the tentacles of a monstrous, unformed creature of darkness.

also what even does Luxite do? If Nullite nullifies narration, could luxite nullify… death?

Nullite nullifies everything, ie, destroys/silences powers in an orderly manner. Luxite would be aligned with Creation, but ordered, unlike the narrators. It could be used to stabilize reality, to reverse corruption, that sort of thing.

that's not terrifying at all. GOD, if we turned this into a movie.
also I'm eyeing the luxite. might have some plans if I don't have to activate Operation Military Service.

Thanks! And Luxite could work, but getting enough will be quite tricky, and even then not an instant win against the Witherlord.
