Rebus, on the other hand, believed the Blade compensated for lack of training but allowed cleverness and determination to decide the result of a fight.
Rebus would indeed die, but it would be neither ordinary nor particularly impactful. Conflict could certainly stop his body from reforming, though.

Hm.. Perhaps we should ask @xinoehp512, he's the plotblade expert :P.

"He can be beaten." Unintelligible said firmly. "Narrators have died before. Rebus merely splits himself to the point that doing significant damage is very difficult. But that also should leave him weaker, at least in terms of raw Narration."

"That is... very bad." Unintelligible said. "Where will he carry out the ritual?"

Aelinor glanced between Unintelligible and Rebus, somewhat... unsure. "Is fighting right now... necessary? When we- ... you, have greater evils to face?"

"You are safe here from any threat of the living. But..." The Dreamsmith reached into his pocket and pulled out a spider-like robot. He worked deftly, opening a panel on its surface and manipulating the mechanism within. "You shall be safe enough here, to wait for Rebus." He finished, setting the robot down. "But you still didn't answer my question. How did you come here?"

"I cannot rest yet, because my Arc is not over." Ribbon said calmly, "I came here because I remembered..."

"All life must end." The Witherlord floated in the void, eyes closed. "But this task will take time. Many will oppose us." He opened his eyes, looked at Charnyx. "Tell me, how quickly do you think Ennullers will react to my return?"

"They are weak. Frightened. They will be slow to respond, if they do at all."

The Plotblade of Conflict can grant skill. What it cannot grant is determination.

Conflict can be used to defeat a more powerful opponent if the wielder is more determined than that opponent.

My bad- took a break for a couple of days.

im not in control of your plot arc. The dagger was Inkwell trying to recreate a tool known as Futility, which purpose was to create portals. This recreation won’t function for Inkwell though, but for some reason it works for other characters.
im not controlling it, you can do whatever you want with it. (Except leave it unnamed :3 )

Inkwell glanced outside. Isabel was fooling around with the dagger he had drawn. Somehow, it was functioning for her. “You can do a lot of things, but you can’t do the same thing twice,” 9/10mmHB#2 said, noticing his gaze. “Besides. You wouldn’t have been able to replicate my powers.” He waved a hand and a rift appeared in the air, sizzling before closing again, and a paper plane bonked Inkwell on the forehead. “Invite her in. She’s not from @edgyswordname.” Inkwell got up and headed to the door.

“You’re welcome to come in out of the rain,” he told Isabel. On a whim, he said, “We have hot cocoa.”

Fog giggled excitedly and watched Ribbon's blood drip from the blade for a moment. She felt . . .

Nothing. Good.

Farewell, Ribbon.

After a moment, she reappeared near the Witherlord.

"Here I am!"

"You have done well." The Witherlord held out the Plotblade of the Dragon. "You have proven yourself worthy to be chief among my servants." The fragment of Antagonist flew forward, incorporating into Fog's misty being.

Fog felt a vast sea of power, a darkness just out of reach.

"I give you leave to draw upon the strength of my mantle, in service to me." The Witherlord said. "You shall have some of my strength, though know that I can withdraw this privilege at will. You are my right hand, and will remain my right hand so long as you remain worthy."

"As I thought." The Witherlord murmured. He gestured to Fog. "Fog is my new right hand. You will obey her as you would me." He smiled. "Unless you think you would be a better fit for the job. Know that I will not forbid competition among those who serve me, so long as it does not harm our goals overly much."

Night was growing weak. Space was not all stars, but more empty space. She had expended much stardust, and her Narration wouldn’t be available to her for a while. And that meant she couldn’t keep 9/10’s little friend contained anymore. He was currently cutting holes through her, approaching a planet called Heaven. Someone had just retreated there from the Mountain of Summoning. They would have to contain Sanguine for the moment. He could be more easily dealt with if the Witherlord wasn’t already an imminent threat. She waved a hand, and gave them one last message before falling asleep. “Gates of Heaven, I have failed you. Prepare yourself for ichor and tears.”

The Witherlord noticed Sanguine's actions, and was displeased.

"I am concerned." The Dreamsmith said, examining the structure of the necklace closely. "But I can do very little to help from here." He hesitated, noticing a tiny imperfection in a link's crystalline lattice. "I would, however, send a message to the world of the living. I shall entrust it either to you, or if you cannot, then to Rebus."

He hurriedly draws up a chair, the state of whether literally or figuratively being ambiguous. Once inside, he finds some milk, sugar and cocoa mix and mixes it in a pot over the fireplace while the rain continues beating on the roof. Eden and 9/10 are talking in the corner. “So. What do you plan to do now? Return to wherever you lived before, meddle in the Thread, something else?” Inkwell asks Isabel. “It’s not friendly here, but I get the feeling you would be even less comfortable at home.”

What was Rebus trying to do? It seemed he had failed at it. The Witherlord was the antagonist now. And there still wasn’t a Protagonist.

Sanguine is quite sure the Witherlord would be displeased by his goals, seeing they include the Witherlord’s death. Then he frowns. “Whats a Witherlord?” he asks himself. No matter. He refocuses on the incoming slaughter.

The Witherlord considered interfering personally. No, I must focus on what is important. Sanguine will likely fail, and watching his attack will give me information on Heaven's defenses.

To this end, he dispatched several withergeists to spy out Sanguine's location and watch his actions.

Impressions of restraint, spies, tactics, and most of all, Sanguine’s failure smash into him like a brick in the face. Except usually Sanguine is the one doing the smashing. Others are coming. To watch him kill. To watch him die. His pride will not allow it. When the withergeists arrive, he instead turns his rage on them.

Egis snaps to. “Woah there, slow down. As much as I’m all for you going and savaging some place, it would be awfully irresponsible of me to let you do that right now.”

Sanguine tries to ignore the little pest. Everyone else is too wrapped up in their “plot threads” and “character arcs” and “obeying the laws of physics” to deal with him. Besides, he has faceless withergeists to kill. “Can’t someone get a little privacy while they commit genocide,” he says, waiting for the whatever it is to appear so he can kill it.

The withergeists do not appear, instead skulking in the shadows, hiding from Sanguine’s wrath.

Sanguine is very very irritated by the one that refuses to fight yet speaks as if she is. “Next time I speak to Continuity, I’ll relay your complaint to him. In the meantime, why don’t you ask gravity to stop gravitating because it wants privacy, then wonder why you’re getting so much attention.”
He frowns as he realized what she claimed. “What are you talking about? It’s bad enough I have to be a character, even without you spouting nonsense like ‘someone created me’”. Luckily, every surface of Heaven shines with its own inner light, and even in the space around it, there was no shadow for a withergeist to skulk in. So when they did arrive, he promptly engaged one.

He was speaking about the withergeists the Witherlord sent to spy on him, not Egis.

Ah. You said pest, singular, so I had assumed.

“Trust me, I am very willing to fight. I was referring to reforming you from the previous you that I destroyed. Tsk, such a hassle. I don’t think Night truly understood what they were doing.” She looks Sanguine in the eye. “Let’s not do that again, yes?”

I had not realized they are already in Heaven. You should probably ping Hawks about that.

“A time for birth, a time for death-“ He watched the withergeists flee. Good.

Sanguine looked down on Heaven. There was a philosophy to be pulled from the marrow here, but hadn’t the subtlety of mind for it. He began descending to the gates of the planet. @Keke

For those of youse peoples who wantses a quest hehehe, maybe you wantses to be involvdes in myses plot :3

A dark carriage pulls through the streets of a lowly village as crows swarm around it in circles. Eventually, the carriage comes to a stop, and interestingly enough, there is no driver. As the doors open, a figure in a plague doctor mask and a long black coat comes out. He carries a finely decorated cane of deep heartwood with a round, black stone at the top. The figure stands before the decrepit building that is this village's town hall. He stretches silently before taking a deep stride toward the shack of a structure, his long black coat following behind. He takes a moment to look down at his hand where what seems to be a small frog with a tiny wizard hat. He gives the creature a few pats on the head before knocking three times.

@Keke @Ashkaloda what was the last thing in our plot?

Also

Myles appeared once again. By now he was resigned to never truly remaining on the page. He did have some plans of his own, however...

And so he called out.

...

Wait I missed context guys

Is Malevolence the Witherlord now?

Or are they separate entities?
