Everywhere across Rebus’s empire, Rebus appeared - thousands of copies, within earshot of every citizen. “The Witherlord has returned - and it isn’t me. This is a world-threatening event, and we shall have to acknowledge this threat.” He smiled, the expression grim yet hopeful. “Many of you may be afraid, for your lives or the lives you live. There will be an evacuation - the worlds on which you live will be consolidated, made mobile.” Diagrams began to play out, showing people moving to a small section of a planet, which then detached from the rest. “Many of you will also be resolute, for you wish to protect yourselves, your fellows, and the very Thread itself. I am mobilizing an army, and each of you possess something to contribute. Soldiers, officers, engineers, fuel - with technology, magic, and our bravery, we can make a difference in this fight!” “Those of you that wish to remain safe, follow the directions to evacuation. The rest of you, who wish to make a difference, remain where you are. What is not evacuated shall become what is needed for the fight!” Rebus smiled broadly, then disappeared, ending the announcement. Dax spun to the rebus who was with them. “What does this mean?” Jack stood up and walked to them. “:im helping fight.” Dax held his hand out “no we dont know what it is.” ”Dax, i was made to be a soldier, let me fight.” he went quite and nodded.

I need to stop writing at night T~T goodness gracious "Goodbye, Fog..." Ribbon said with a smile before she fell away. For a brief second, Ribbon wondered if her mechanisms would work, or if they'd fail her at this vital time. But only time would be able to tell, because for now, Ribbon was gone. -- Center of The Guardians of the Plot found himself punching through a wooden door again. It splintered beneath his fist, and the furious winter gale flooded in, carrying the blizzard on it's wings. The inside of the blocky stone-bricked building was surprisingly barren. Little was there to provide anyone any reason to suspect there was anyone who inhabited the structure, but Center saw through the illusion. Magenta, on the other hand, did not. "He isn't even here! That TRAITOR will pay for what he's done!" Magenta had a pulsating electric orb formed around his draconic skull to protect it from the outside, but it was evident that Magenta was, as normal, very irritated. Caltrevas followed in suit, the man's age showing evidently as he stumbled into the sheltered structure weakly. "There has to be better ways of getting in here, ye would think," he grumbled. Center silenced him with a glare. Center held out a ghastly flame in his hand and blew it outwards. Despite having a flaming visage instead of a face, it appeared he had the functions of a normal person. The entire room flickered, and then disappeared. Intricate framework made out of smooth, reflective material revealed the truth behind the room and the structure entirely- it was all simply an elaborate creation. "You know I hate it when you do that," a new voice sounded, "You could've just knocked." "We tried knocking ye door-" Caltrevas started, but was interrupted by Magenta. "You absolute buffoon, we can't simply knock if YOU NEVER ANSWER!" Magenta screeched. "Calm down, bud." The voice said, "I haven't forgotten you yet. Besides, these are my hunting grounds." "You hunt in a place that you've made, in your own illusion?" Center sounded skeptical. "I very much do." The new voice snapped. "Anyways, get to the point. Have you come to invoke the pact or whatever it is? Yes? No?" Center sighed. "Surely you would've been able to tell that the Witherlord is back." "Evidently." Magenta grumbled. "Regardless," Center said, "We believe it would be most beneficial for the Plot if we joined him." "I'm sorry," the new voice said, "You want ME to join HIM?" "Yes. And come on out already, enough hiding." A figure stepped forward, no larger than a squirrel. It resembled something of a mammal with short legs, and a long, slender body that was accented with stripes. But perhaps most striking was the dazzling wings that expanded out of the ferret's back in numerous pairs. They reached well over five times the length of the rodent's body, and were made out of some sort of light-adjacent material; they illuminated the entire space by themselves. "Charnaster," Magenta said suddenly, as if remembering. "You've gone to the wrong person," Charnaster snarled, "Because the Witherlord is about to come to me." . @NameIess Witherlord, I need you to remove something for me. 1

"It is not safe for the living to be long in this place, especially without Omen to give you a link back to the world of the living." He hesitated, then continued more gently. "How did you come here, young one?" Well, since she's definitely totally absolutely 100% for certain dead, Ribbon would need no trial to reach the Dreamsmith. He might insist on one if she wanted him to make a weapon for her, but if she just wants to wait and meet Rebus, a trial wouldn't be necessary.

The Witherlord grunted, mildly disappointed. "Heaven's gates shall not protect you forever, angel." The Witherlord smiled, making note of the established location. It would be an excellent place to invade, thematically appropriate and sure to draw the heroes of the Thread to its defense. The Witherlord turned. Most of his opponents had now fled, as he'd expected. He faced Atlas and Rebus. "Do you still think to face me?" The Dreamsmith looked up in surprise. Hes gonna cause me emotional pain isn't he? suddenly any and all of atlas confidence disappeared and she hid behind rebus. She shakily pointed Fallen Hero in a defensive manner. "No no. I dont wan face yu. Atually im s'ared, Y'ike weally sca'ed so..." her red eyes were wide and shaking with fear.

Ten thousand more blades of darkness appeared behind him. "It is good that you fear me. This entire Thread should fear me, for I am its end. Run if you wish. Death will find you in the end. I will find you in the end."

But..." The Dreamsmith reached into his pocket and pulled out a spider-like robot. He worked deftly, opening a panel on its surface and manipulating the mechanism within. "You shall be safe enough here, to wait for Rebus." He finished, setting the robot down. "But you still didn't answer my question. How did you come here?"

Through The Living Glass She/They Posted February 20 Posted February 20 6 hours ago, NameIess said: Well done. The Witherlord's voice echoed through Fog's being. Return to me, and receive your reward. Fog giggled excitedly and watched Ribbon's blood drip from the blade for a moment. She felt . . . Nothing. Good. Farewell, Ribbon. After a moment, she reappeared near the Witherlord. "Here I am!"
TwinStorm He/Him Posted February 20 Posted February 20 9 hours ago, DragonHeir said: Rebus raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “You’ve never met your brother within the closest thing to reality you’ve encountered. Regardless, it is interesting development.” - Rebus sent utility fog throughout the ship, doing as the AI suggested and powering the ship on. He nearly snapped out of existence as the Witherlord shot at the ship, then watched with nervous anticipation as the projectiles changed course towards the actual people - and the crew. - “I made a deal.” Rebus bowed his head. “That I would bring about the summoning of the Witherlord. I had to…” -his voice broke- “I had to save Symbol.” - Rebus cut a hole in a hopefully-unimportant part of the ship, extending a gangplank made from utility fog. - “Getting yourself killed solves very little.” Rebus said, weaving through blades as he tried to reach Atlas. “If you did nothing to actually cause this, and you won’t do anything now, get out of here and actually prepare!” - RAFO - there was something important in that lab, and I don’t know if it’s still there. That was touching. Rebus took the antidote - presumably in a vial - and stood up, only to double over coughing. - Dax’s vision was briefly covered by a hologram of what Rebus saw: the Witherlord and all his terrible power, smiting a mountain as reality fell apart. In the middle of it all, like a candle in a hurricane, was Atlas - defiant and utterly foolish. “Balitan is dead, Dax - if you would like to be my head scientist, I could use your help.” Then Rebus turned to Jack. “I can get you equipment, upgrade you, put troops under your command. You matter - what do you need so that matters?” Rebus nodded, though that was perhaps the second most difficult location to reach in the whole of the Thread. - Rebus snapped into existence behind Bridge, hand humming with color. “PILOT,” he said, “the world is ending. How did you get to the Dreamsmith without a trial?” Jack cocked his head. “What do you mean? Most people would not have one.” - “I’m not quite Rebus,” said the clone, “but I do want to live.” He smiled - face cracking a little further - and the vial snapped out of existence. “My liege.” Rebus nodded. “Do you mean TwinStorm? Or is it more than that…” @Kansas Stormcursed Rebus sent another wave of utility fog, slamming Asharak off his feet. Except he didn’t. The utility fog decohered, losing any semblance of order as it scattered in every direction. Rebus laughed, slightly stunned. “Your timing is certainly unique. Have you noticed the world just began to end?” "Something different. Hinted at in the Thread." She projected a transparent image across the landscape. Cricket sitting at a campfire in the freezing cold. The apparition huddled in a blanket, trying to keep warm. "In his worst of days." Fael said, gesturing at the image, which rapidly flashed to Cricket standing over a grave, or staring down a path of footsteps in the snow. "A voice told him to keep going, keep fighting. Guiding him down one path . . . one specific path. One that led to Rebus." She paused, hoping that Rebus would catch on.
Verdance he/him Posted February 20 Posted February 20 9/10mmHB#2 dragged Inkwell back through a Rift to his stupid cabin. Hopefully he wouldn’t get himself killed. 9/10 didn’t care about Inkwell, but he didn’t want to see what happened to him as a character when that pen got destroyed. Inkwell shook himself and tore away from 9/10. “What the *screech*?” He looked around. Coming up the path from the valley below was Eden, soaked and clearly angry, hand clutching a mordite scarred claw to her chest. A starhawk sat on her shoulder and blocked out his profanity. Inkwell couldn’t meet her gaze. “Come on inside,” 9/10 said. “We have a bit to talk about.” They did. 9/10 borrowed Shadowlight while Inkwell stared out the window, refusing to respond to anything, and drew a fire and a stack of blankets which they each wrapped themselves in. “So. What in the godmother was that?!”, Eden finally said. Her lip was bleeding, and she was barely not shouting. Barely. “You didn’t tell me he could do this to me! You told me the sword would completely incapacitate him!” Inkwell mumbled something too quiet to hear. “I can’t hear you,” Eden responded incredulously. “His au-his god clearly didn’t want that to happen. I’m sorry.” Eden gaped. “His what?” 9/10mmHB#2 leaned forward. “This world is strange. We three, as well as Night and a few less relevant people, are the hands of a god. His playthings, his sword, his pen. It’s very complicated and for some reason there are things he doesn’t want us to tell you. It’s not like I get a choice. But other cha- people in this world have their own gods. And what our god thought would happen wasn’t allowed by the other. There wasn’t anything to do.” Eden took a deep, unsteady breath. “I do not want to be controlled by some stupid god thing.” 9/10 leaned back. “I said that too. Nothing to do about it now.” Inkwell still wouldn’t face them. “Look, Ink. You did your best. You failed. Happens to all of us. Move on.” Inkwell wouldn’t react. “Would it make you feel better to know that you can officially annoy the an- annoy malevolence or the Witherlord from anywhere in the thread?” Inkwell coughed, trying to cover up a short laugh. He turned, and gave a sad smile. “9/10mmHB#2? I don’t want to hear ANYTHING from you. You ran away. Gave Futility to Fog. And guess what? She just killed Ribbon. So to be honest, I couldn’t give a *screech* about what you think. At least I showed up. Even if I could have done more.” 9/10 groaned. “You literally couldn’t have. You were out of ink.” “But not out of ideas. There was the switch, or the LOAD button.” “The what?” “I brought over an Undertale SAVE and LOAD system and started compounding DT. I was going to locally reset the timeline.” “Like that would work. Your best plan was a storming Undertale reference? If Malevolence’s au- god wouldn’t let Death Omen incapacitate him for a period of time, what makes you think any of them would let you reference Undertale? Seriously, stupid idea.” Eden stared. “Now what? Bacon is dead. Night is- where is Night, anyway?” —— Night was growing weak. Space was not all stars, but more empty space. She had expended much stardust, and her Narration wouldn’t be available to her for a while. And that meant she couldn’t keep 9/10’s little friend contained anymore. He was currently cutting holes through her, approaching a planet called Heaven. Someone had just retreated there from the Mountain of Summoning. They would have to contain Sanguine for the moment. He could be more easily dealt with if the Witherlord wasn’t already an imminent threat. She waved a hand, and gave them one last message before falling asleep. “Gates of Heaven, I have failed you. Prepare yourself for ichor and tears.” 1
