It was nice not being a pigeon.

Bacon tried to remember what those were.

I’m thinking they’re just random mountains far away that are resistant to narration in a similar way that the city from earlier was malleable

"Seems as good a plan as any. Hey, did you finish your project thing?"

The crystals continued to grow towards him, but slower. It seemed the destroyer's attention was focused elsewhere.

Zanitar strained against invisible forces as he climbed, trying to catch sight of Onyx's palace. In this realm, he would be able to stop the destroyer.

Yeah. Not always, but sometimes/often narrator names have a meaning, or are tied to the character.

I may do Wist. It had many layers of meaning: It is close to Wit so I like that but it also can meaning archiacly to know. But best it is Wistful. I think that matches Falvan.

But ideas are awesome. Yes ideas.

I mean... sometimes. Mine was literally Platypus

The destroyer calmly hurled explosion after explosion at the shield.

Erif struggled ineffectually against the grasping hands.

You hit a sore spot with Onyx :P But he's not so mad he really wants you dead.

The destroyer does somewhat have a mind of his own.

The inspector blinked.

"Oh dear," he said. "What are you doing, destroyer?"

The void-eyed man did not speak, but his servants did. "gathering power," they whispered. "all will be one. their power, their flesh joined to ours..."

Uh, sort of.

Is that location within The Longest Thread or outside?

outside, so he basically just got warped in

IM SORRY I HAD SCHOOL AND THEN I ALMOST DIED OF PNEUMONIA.

Still have school, but less pneumonia, so I'll see if I can avoid leaving for three weeks again.

Also, I almost gave up reading what I'd missed when I got to the pun battle. You guys need help.

"The bigger they are..." Platypus began, winded.

I might not be able to. But I must.

The figure raised The Blade of Endings once more, and a dread light of darkness began to grow within it. "Do you tire, Platypus? I tire too. I am tired of this battle, this Thread... they are too limiting for me. I shall put them to an End, and I shall be free." The dread light within his Blade grew stronger and stronger, until it consumed Platypus's sight and blocked out all except the Blade of Endings and the silhouette of the one who wielded it. As Platypus watched, the figure swung the Blade down.

And tore the Thread in two. Not just the Thread, but the great barriers that trapped Narrators within the Thread shattered as well, finally broken so long after their creation, breaking apart to reveal uncounted worlds, now doomed to destruction that would match TLT's own.

Platypus felt himself falling, and he heard the laughter of the figure as he did. The laughter of a being who knew he had won.

Platypus's eyes opened. He was lying on his back on a cool stone floor. From his left came warmth, and the sound of a hammer against an anvil.

She stood up and stretched, looking down at the valley for a moment. "Well, I do believe things will... Go better, this time around. No more intervention of any kind." She sat back down, then looked to Bacon. "So... How long do you plan on staying? You're free to leave any time you wish, of course, and the same goes for returning if you ever choose to do so."

"Excuse me. I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I was invited." The Brave Adventurer walked up casually, idly tucking a stray strand of blond hair back into the carefully manicured wave atop his head. He wore a suit, and his beard was well trimmed. At his waist, a small sword dangled in its sheath, hilt gleaming with a shine that seemed... untouched. "I came as soon as I could. I could hardly deny a request for an audience from one of the oldest and wisest Narrators in the thread, now could I?" He checked the time on an iridescent pocket watch.

I do believe Sequence is older than Platypus and Subversion, by the way. Earliest I could find mentioning her is 2021, and @Immortal Platypus didn't join the Shard until 2022. So yeah, oldest active Narrator in terms of pages alive for.

Subversion's soul returned to her body as her Author returned to the Thread, and her eyes fluttered open. In an instant (lucky her, took me a few hours) she saw all that had transpired while she was unconscious. "Oh, the Once Author's gone? That's... that's a pity." She said softly. "He was a good... once-Author, I guess." She looked at Nogard. "Thanks for getting me away from that... guy."

... frowned. "I think we lo... no, I won't say that. Take note, Selppaenip. Never say that phrase that I was about to say. Or similar ones. Merely state reality as it is. I do not see the Silent Hero chasing us any longer. You understand?"

Still, for whatever reason, it hurt just a little. She reached up and twirled her fingers in her hair.

Yes. I tire. But no one (NP) can know that. I must remain strong until the time comes. I must stop the End. Then, and only then, can I rest.

As he opened his eyes, he rolled forward, standing up smoothly, Vengeance in hand. "Dreamsmith?" he asked cautiously.

can confirm that Sequence is older than any of my characters

Hacob's clone looked at him, ready to fight if necessary. "Have you seen a squirrel? I've been trying to find him, but I haven't seen him, and my Narration won't summon him for some reason or another.

FYI, TP is at the sight of the original battle with the actual Hacob. I don't remember if there was anyone else there. Zanitar was, but he isn't there anymore.

Suddenly, somebody spoke in Cricket's head. BOY, he said in snarling tones, CHILD OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS. COME HOME. MY SERVANTS ON YOUR TAIL AND YOUR LITTLE FRIENDS WILL DIE. COME HOME, AND SPARE THEM. THE MUTE ONE, HIS SISTER, THE ENULLER, THE NARRATOR, THEY WILL ALL BURN. IT HAS BEEN TOO LONG, NINETEEN YEARS, COME HOME, AND MEET YOUR DESTINY.

Cricket screamed in agony as the voice pulsed in his head, the same voice that had drove him to run away ten years ago, whatever it was... it was catching up to him.

"He will only get stronger," warned the inspector. "Anger gives him power."

Blood drained away, but it didn't seem to slow the destroyer at all- the cuts were filled with red light before they had even fully opened.

Green light began to seep into the Thread, holding it fast. Green crystals also began to grow around Ista's hands and feet, anchoring them in place.

Orange light played around the destroyer's limbs as he dropped from faster-than-blinking to a paltry quick. His blade, which was outlined faintly in gold, struck out at Ista's heart.

"you are strong," whispered the remnant, "but only with borrowed power."

Ista grinned. “Power needs be given,” she whispered. Then she wrenched away his anger, using her connection to him to try to amplify this. She also exploded him away from her.
