There was nothing in real space to see.

The dream eater latched onto Zanitar's head and began to draw him into a dream.

He quickly batted it aside with one of his Brightwields, then dove towards the inspector, flying down to meet up with that group.

“I am not saying that he desires power, but instead that we have earned an audience.”

”What does he want, then? To be left alone, like a petulant child running away from duty? There are people dependent on him.”

Oh great. If this keeps up, the destroyer will come back. "What duty? He is a Narrator. They don't have allegiance to anyone, and he owes you nothing. Why would you dealing with the consequences of your own actions earn an audience with him?"

The Dreamsmith set aside his work and gave Platypus his full attention, anvil fading into the background. “He did send letters asking for my aid, but I cannot say whether he intends to claim the Blades for himself. Even if does not intend to, he may end up claiming one of them. Even I am not sure that I could resist the temptation, if the Blades were brought to me.”

"Did he tell you what the Blades were called? Or anything else about them?"

“Ah, one of the intruders? I’ve no clue where he is.” The Brave Adventurer smiled in a trustworthy-seeming way. “I’ll be sure to tell you if I find him. And of course I knew my predecessor personally. We were quite close before his retirement.”

"You would probably know him as that." Zanitar blinked. "So did you know who he actually was?"

Hacob was curious of this as well.

Ista stared at him like he was an idiot. Because he was. “I was referring to Erif and the inspector.”

Ista brought as much hunger onto the dream eater attacking Zanitar as possible. Which was a lot.

The dream eater lost interest and flew away.

Bacon gave himself the ability to project illusions, then projected an illusion of the sphere Beosta had been so strange about.

"What... was that thing?" Nogard shuddered at the memory. "It didn't look like anything I've seen before."

"The General? I think she was a Ghanderflaffle." Subversion paused to see if this rang any bells for Nogard.

"Not without the Great Wizard." ... glanced around. "Did you happen to see what happened to him?"

TP looked around to see if he could find where the Great Wizard had gone.

The Great Wizard appeared to be being placed into a magically sealed coffin while unconscious and tied in magical ropes, watched carefully by the General, the Valiant One, and the Silent Hero. Well, the Silent Hero was watching everyone, including TP, but he seemed to pay extra attention to the unconscious Wizard.

"Of course! He was a great man, my predecessor. A pity he vanished as he did." The Brave Adventurer frowned. "Was there some secret as to his identity?"

"I do not believe he came with us. He is likely still on the battlefield."

[Uh oh,] said TP to Hacob. [Should we do something about that?]

Subversion nodded. "Yes. They're shapeshifters, and their empire is always either rising or falling. They aren't too common outside of that empire, but they do travel sometimes."

Tam set Shoe down next to Bacon. He glared at his sister as she landed beside him, but she only shrugged and smiled.

Beosta didn't like being left behind on the mountain. She crossed her arms and waited for Cricket to stop zoning out.

"Oh- yes. Although without the OA... I don't know how we'll make it back to the others." Nogard looked crestfallen.

"I'm sure we can defeat them, if we need to!" said Selppaenip confidently.

He pulled out a tiny paintbrush and with his strokes created an incredibly realistic likeness (in color).

Up until now, they'd seen the sphere as cloudy. The sphere that the man drew contained the face of a boy shining through (for though he couldn't be younger than 20, a boy he could not but be called). He was sleeping peacefully, shaggy blond hair splayed as if over a pillow. His facial features faintly-- very faintly-- resembled Shoe's.

She turned to Erif. “You think you can teleport us there? Don’t know if your teleportation follows the same rules that stop us from entering Onyx domain, especially if it stems from him.”

Erif blinked. He'd been oddly quiet ever since the inspector had revealed the truth about what had happened to his home world. "I... think I can teleport to Sequence."

He concentrated, finding Sequence with his mind and attempting to teleport to where she was.
