That almost clears you, though I'm wondering now if the Elims could indeed have a Mistborn. Giving them few other significant roles, and making the Mistborn a fairly new player, could certainly balance the game. Hey I am learning. Everybody has to start somewhere, right? One of the things you learn is to almost never consider someone absolutely cleared. There are very few games where that can happen, and even then usually under very rare circumstances. I don't take anything for granted. And yes, you're learning, and I hope you continue to improve. 1
Yitzi2 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 It occurred to me (though my record this game has admittedly not been great) that the elims could have an idea who to target based on a seeker...but it could also be (and this seems more likely, as a seeker is only 1 attempt per night, and that only until he runs out of metals) that the metallurgist (or a metallurgist) is feeding them info in exchange for protection.

Ouch, definitely a possibility. I'd say maybe a thief too, but no one's reported having vials stolen. I suppose that would out them as a Misting, though, which they shouldn't want to do. If the Thief stole vials from someone, though, they could also let the Elims know in exchange for protection. Neither role loses if the Elims win, only if they don't survive (like poor Ornstein, though he wasn't exactly an active player).
Steeldancer he/him Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 But how? How would they communicate? They would need a PM. And the couriers are dead (unless there is another one?)

Neither role loses if the Elims win, only if they don't survive (like poor Ornstein, though he wasn't exactly an active player). A thief has much the same problem as a seeker, though: He can only steal from one person at a time, and that doesn't give the elims the info to do a misting kill every cycle unless they're really lucky. It also has the weakness of a metallurgist (namely that someone might order metals they don't have the ability to use). Just now, The Flash said: But how? How would they communicate? Obviously, that theory assumes that they got PMs before the couriers died (once the PM is set up, I believe it is permanent). If we assume that they somehow found found two metallurgists (their ally and Ornstein), we can posit that they took out Ornstein first in order to direct a larger share of the ordering to their pet metallurgist. On the plus side, this would explain why their first kill was an inactive. On the minus side, it would require a lot of lucky PMs early on.
Steeldancer he/him Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) Do the metallurgists know who each other are? Wait a second. Brightness was an elim! She must have been making PMs since the first night. If anybody is willing to admit they were in a PM that would be fantastic. Be very careful about your PMs... Edited June 11, 2017 by The Flash

BR was a Courier, so if they somehow figured out who the Metallurgist is, she'd have been able to set up the PM, though if it was with her, that line of communication would be gone. Let's hope. She could have set it up between the Metallurgist and any other Elim, though, so it's possible they would still have that contact in place if so. Of course, all of these ideas rely on a significant amount of luck for the Elim team early on. Maybe they do also have a Seeker who got really lucky with their first scan and found that Metallurgist (does the Seeker find those roles?). We'll see if they find another Misting tonight. Hopefully not. Hazekillers, this is probably a good time to think about using your ability on people you suspect, and since so many people have revealed and we're getting further into the game, one or two Hazekillers being revealed by being injured won't be too bad.
Seonid he/him Posted June 11, 2017 Author Posted June 11, 2017 Rules clarification: when a courier dies, all of their PMs are closed.

If BR had indeed managed to set up a PM between any Elim and the remaining Metallurgist, that's gone. Double bonus for us, and a huge thanks to whoever killed her (a Coinshot I assume). Good luck and good hunting tonight! I won't publicly suggest any targets so that you won't be easily blocked, but I hope your suspicions align with mine fairly closely.
Yitzi2 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 I realized: They can't have used a metallurgist (and we don't know there's only one left) to target Mistings: Their kills were a rioter on N3 and a lurcher on N4, but brass wasn't available for ordering until N3 (so the metallurgist wouldn't know until D3), and iron has not been available at all so far. 1
Steeldancer he/him Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) I sort of figured the elims would be after me tonight. But maybe they'll be weird again. I'll ask again: I would love to be passed some pewter! If you have no night action, please grab some for me and pass it over. And yitzi2, mistings do start with metals, so they could have been detected by an elim seeker misting. Edited June 11, 2017 by The Flash

Do you mean N2 and N3? We don't know who they're killing tonight. But anyway, good point about them not coordinating with a Metallurgist. And that puts us back to the Seeker conundrum: do they have one, or not? I'm leaning yes, and so my vote is again going on Cluny.

Yitzi2 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Another point: Did any rioting happen this game? If not, Valbar can't have been found via a seeker.

DrakeMarshall he/him Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Day 5: A Test of Metal Second Nameless quietly shut the door to his room, careful not to awake any of the other guards. It was colder in his quarters then he expected. No matter. Second absentmindedly sorted through a stack of papers on his table. Mostly orders for more metals. Metal trade was a major industry on this world, and PRIME preferred that his servants be financially able to support themselves. Wealth without any apparent source drew the wrong kind of attention. Of coarse, with the recent crackdown on metals, supplying people with good alloys of allomantic grade metal also drew its share of unwanted attention. The grey stone in Second's ring began to pulse with a dim inner light. "ANY NEWS OF FIFTH TODAY?" PRIME inquired, speaking directly in Second's mind. "No, sir, none so far. Just more signs of Conrad and Venture fighting." "VERY WELL... YOU ARE TO KEEP SEARCHING FOR FIFTH." "Of coarse, sir. I will be--" Second hesitated as he saw the tendrils of mist creeping into his room through his shattered window, quickly evaporating as if reluctant to trespass in a home. Outside, a figure calmly regarded him, motionless. "WHAT IS IT?" PRIME asked, currently not linked to see through Second's eyes. "I... I am not sure, my lord. One moment." Second slowly walked towards the door of his room, while reaching for the silvery coin in his pocket. A slight cough sounded behind him, as if to get Second's attention. He spun around, tossing his coin in the air. When he caught it again, it had morphed into a long, silver blade, exquisitely balanced. "A fascinating weapon." a voice sounded. Second located its source: a second figure in the shadowed corner of his room, wearing the attire of a guard. "One wonders where it came from. At any rate, you are not the only one here who would use a coin as a weapon." The intruder snapped their fingers, and a handful of boxings flew towards Second. Patches of red blossomed on his clothing as the coins ripped through him, and Second keeled over. The pain was indescribable. "Goodbye, Lance." The guard silently opened the door and left. "SECOND. REPORT!" PRIME sounded in his head. Second attempted to muster a response, but could not. He blacked out. ------------------------------------ Barry Allen couldn't sleep. No matter how much he tried to. He lay awake in his quarters, aware that everyone else in the barracks was likely fast asleep. But because he was awake, Barry saw the door to his room swing open, and one of the other guards entering. They were coming. And he'd known they would. The Ventures weren't about to tolerate a mistborn in Conrad's guard force, were they? They had come to finish him off. Barry remained motionless, waiting, trying to breathe evenly, as if still asleep. He couldn't reach any of his weapons without alerting the intruder... Nor could he easily fight them off. Not only were his metals missing, but there was probably more than one attacker. He could call for help, but it would be too late. He was almost helpless. The intruder reached Barry. There was a flash of a glass dagger. Barry Allen tried to scream, but his throat was slit. He lay on his bed, bleeding profusely and watching his attacker quietly leave. ------------------------------------ "UP!" Gern bellowed at Lance's door. Sometimes the guards were slow in the morning, which was unacceptable. Still, it was rare behavior for Lance... "Lord Ruler man, get to your post or I'll drag you there!!!" he shouted. There was no reply. Gern sighed, and barged open the door, ready to shake Lance awake. "Lord Ruler..." He whispered in disbelief. Lance lay dead in a pool of blood, glaring sightlessly back at Gern, surrounded by scattered slips of paper that seemed to be requests for allomantic metals. He raised the alarm. ------------------------------------ Gern moved on to Barry Allen's room, dreading what he would find. Surely another corpse. Still, just in case, he yelled his customary "UP!" before barging in, in the event that the guard was simply just sleeping in. Allen's bed was empty, with a large brown stain of dried blood on the sheet. Gern cursed. That was probably the last he would see of Barry Allen. He heard a thump emanating from from the closet. What? Carefully, he swung open the closet door... And Barry Allen waited on the other side, very much alive and holding a sword out wardingly. Gern could see a long, jagged scar running across Allen's neck. Impossible. Such a wound should have killed him. "Thank the Lord Ruler," Allen said. "You aren't one of them." Day 5 has begun! It will end at 10:30 PM, Mountain Daylight Time, June 13th. Lance (Ecthelion III) was attacked! They were a Metallurgist! Barry Allen (The Flash) was attacked, but survived! Steeldancer he/him Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Ah fantastic. Well that is 2 metallurgists dead... If we don't have 3 we are out of metals. Also HAHAHAHAHA NICE TRY VENTURES but somebody passed me pewter a little while back. Whoever that was, thank you so much. Also this means if we have no more metallurgists that if the Ventures have a hemalurgic coinshot they won't ever be able to use them! Hooray! Although we are also stuck with what metals we have. But at the moment I'm going to enjoy the results of my allomancy! Bring it on, ventures! Barry Allen felt his neck. He had found a single vial of pewter outside his room, and he had used it. He walked confidently. Yes, he had metals. But which ones did he have? Well he wasn't about to tell. Even without steel, Barry was deadly. He would finally have revenge for his wife. There was something empowering about these real metals. It brought life back to him, filling him up with the confidence that perhaps, despite his mistakes, he would pull through and tear these Ventures down. Edited June 12, 2017 by The Flash
Jondesu he/him Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Wow. That was...unexpected. Glad you had the pewter, Flash, but Ecth? The writeup makes it sound like he was a Coinshot kill, while Flash was attacked by the Elims. Is that something we can accurately decipher from the writeup, @Drake Marshall? If so, I'm trying to figure out a reason someone would have attacked Ecth and whether the Ventures may have a Hemalurgic Coinshot (they would have had to get a vial from someone else, which seems unlikely) or if this was just an unfortunate vigilante kill. I wish I could just ask someone to claim it, but of course that would be foolish to do, since a Coinshot would definitely be a high profile target. Whoever you are, though, you might be out of Steel, but if you have more somehow, I hope you hit someone less vital next time. I'm guessing we don't have any more Metallurgists, though we'll find out tonight, and if so, we've deprived all of our village Mistings (and our Mistborn) of the opportunity to continue using their abilities.
Steeldancer he/him Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 So... who the heck are we going to lynch?
Yitzi2 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I would presume that Ecth was an unfortunate vigilante kill. Also, did anybody hazekill last night? If so, it might be good to let us know whom you targeted, so that we can at least know they didn't do one of the kills (though if there aren't any more metallurgists, being a coinshot isn't worth much any more).
Jondesu he/him Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 1 hour ago, The Flash said: So... who the heck are we going to lynch? That's…a very good question. The list of options is shortening, so I'm going to go down the player list (in the order they're listed) and see what we know: Hemalurgic_Headshot: Totally off my radar so far. I know he's posted, but I don't really have any particular read on him. The Flash: Just about confirmed village, though there's still the really paranoid theory that he's Elim Mistborn and this attack was a WGG. Very unlikely, though. Manukos: Also has been mostly off my radar Yitzi: Active, no real strong indications of alignment, but calling for hazekillers could be an Elim move to discover more roles, although it's also useful for the village. cloudjumper: Has been suspected by a few people so far. I haven't seen anything specific that I latched onto, but I haven't been able to give this game my full attention. Jondesu: Absolutely village DroughtBringer: Completely inactive, but said in the other game he had a busy time at school. @DroughtBringer, any chance you can return to this game? Elenion: Always suspicious to me as I've said in many games, but I try not to let that make me jump to conclusions. If I get a chance, I want to analyze some of his posts, but he could certainly be an Elim, although if he is, he's doing a good job at not making himself too suspicious (I think he's had a few votes here and there but has never been in real danger). Araris Valerian: The Ghost of SE Present. Seriously, this guy could be anything. I'd almost support lynching him simply for being so hard to read, but I definitely have nothing to go on with him. Metacognition: One of my top suspicions. He's been getting onto Flash a lot who's confirmed now to be village, although that's a risky move if he's an Elim, since it draws attention now. In fact, it makes me wonder if the Elims hit Flash partially to make those who were attacking him in the thread seem more suspicious, though they also had plenty of other reasons to want him gone. I dunno, without much in the way of metals (he can't have been passed much more I would assume, though hopefully I'm wrong) Flash won't be much of a danger. Still, would probably be okay with lynching Meta. Cluny: Drew suspicion from me and others early for a mistake, but I have decided that was not alignment-indicative. Still has been setting off my Elim-dar, on occasion, so would also support his lynch. Sart: Another person who often ends up being a ghost. Hard to get a read on, and hasn't posted that much (typical for him), but I'll see if I can analyze his posts. With 21 players starting the game, we should have 4-5 Elims, right? That means we have 3-4 left of the above list. I'm thinking one is probably mostly or completely inactive, so Manukos and Drought are good possibilities, and then I would bet the remaining 2-3 are among HH, Yitzi, cloudjumper, Len, Araris, Meta, Cluny, or Sart (I know, I'm just summarizing what I posted above). Probably the most suspicious of…Meta, Cluny, and Len. 11 minutes ago, Yitzi2 said: I would presume that Ecth was an unfortunate vigilante kill. Also, did anybody hazekill last night? I did hazekill. I targeted…Ecth. –_– Yeah, didn't work out so well of course. It failed because he didn't take any actions, which makes sense now that we know he was a Metallurgist, and apparently I was joined in my suspicion of him by our Coinshot, so that's mostly a moot point now. I guess that means I just role-claimed too… oh well.
